So… Jake Fromm?

Quarterback Jake Fromm was certainly the surprise of Buffalo’s 2020 draft. Could he start? Unlikely in the short term. Josh Allen is the starter. But let’s see what his new coach thinks of the QB.

“He’s played at a high level. He’s won a lot of games and I know that he’s committed to coming in and really being the best teammate that he can be. Earning every last inch of what he gets here and I think that’s a that’s a great way to start,” McDermott said.

The response was interesting because McDermott was specifically asked if Fromm could earn the No. 2 spot behind Allen. AKA a battle with Matt Barkley. It’d be an easy ‘yes’ answer to avoid any sort of QB controversy with Allen. But that’s just playing devil’s advocate, it might be too far to say McDermott ‘misspoke’ or something of the sort, but yeah, by “earning every last inch,” we know that’s for a backup spot, not Allen’s.
