Offseason challenges

It needs little introduction, so we’ll skip it. This ongoing pandemic has altered the NFL’s offseason. But McDermott said he’s trying to keep things as normal as possible at this time with spring workouts and rookie minicamps.

Most of the meetings the players and coaches are having are virtual now, but speaking of Diggs and the draft, a lot of players in the meetings are new. McDermott said during this time of the year in meetings and practices, players are just getting to know each other so that’s what McDermott and the coaching staff is focusing on. Plenty of icebreakers from the sounds of it right now.

“Certainly aware of this situation and the circumstances that make it different and unique,” McDermott said. “Our players this time of year are used to other players sharing their stories, players sharing in some way shape or form in order to help bring our team together. And so we we’ve continued with that during our meetings where players are sharing, coaches are sharing some of maybe where they live. They tell their story a little bit. They talk about their family. So we have not gotten away from that.”
