Position: Wide receiver

Year: Redshirt freshman

Analysis: Whittington will be getting his first real action as a college football player during his redshirt freshman season. He missed the final 12 games last season after reinjuring a groin injury in the season opener against Louisiana Tech. The hype around Whittington has had to wait a year, but it still present.

A five-star prospect out of high school, Whittington had the ability to play anywhere on the field. Originally, Tom Herman chose to play him at running back and split carries with Keaontay Ingram. After injuries and the arrival of Bijan Robinson, Whittington will now be playing wide receiver.

With Devin Duvernay gone, Whittington has an opportunity to take over as the premier slot receiver for Sam Ehlinger. His 6-0 frame and ability to run as tough and physical as a running back will make him a primary weapon for the next three to four years.
