10 potential candidates to become the next star for Texas football

With Sam Ehlinger graduating in May, Texas needs a new face of the program. Here are 10 potential candidates to become the next star for UT:

No. 2 – Bijan Robinson

Sean Logan/azcentral sports

Position: Running back

Year: Freshman

Analysis: When Bijan Robinson signed for Texas in December, it made three consecutive recruiting classes with a five-star prospect for Tom Herman. The top running back in the 2020 class, Robinson’s potential is unlimited, as he has the chance to become the next great Longhorn ball carrier.

Looking at his high school numbers, Robinson averaged just over 13 yards per carry throughout his three varsity years. In his senior year, he had 2,549 all-purpose yards with 41 total touchdowns (38 rushing, 3 receiving). 247Sports has compared him to Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints.

Even with Keaontay Ingram and Roschon Johnson as running backs ahead of him in the depth chart, Robinson could overtake both of them if he produces quickly. The hype around the Arizona native begun the minute he committed to Texas in August 2019. It will be exciting to finally see Robinson in a Longhorn uniform.
