10 potential candidates to become the next star for Texas football

With Sam Ehlinger graduating in May, Texas needs a new face of the program. Here are 10 potential candidates to become the next star for UT:

No. 10 – Ja’Tavion Sanders

Position: TBD

Year: 2021 recruiting class

Analysis: Picking Sanders within the top 10 may be a stretch as he has yet to even sign his national letter of intent with Texas. A part of the 2021 recruiting class, Sanders is expected to be the crown jewel for Tom Herman this year.

His position is listed as TBD because the five-star recruit from Denton can play on both sides of the ball. Lining up at wide receiver and using his 6-4 220 pound frame could be an advantage for Mike Yurich’s offense.

Where he will more than likely be used is defensive end. Sanders has been compared to Vic Beasley of the Atlanta Falcons by 247Sports and it is easy to see why. Coming off the edge, he uses his athleticism and quickness to get to quarterbacks.

No matter which side of the ball he plays on, Sanders will be a star. Either catching balls from the next great Texas quarterback or lining up on the line of scrimmage to rush the passer, Sanders has enormous potential.
