10 potential candidates to become the next star for Texas football

With Sam Ehlinger graduating in May, Texas needs a new face of the program. Here are 10 potential candidates to become the next star for UT:

No. 9 – Xavion Alford

Position: Safety

Year: Freshman

Analysis: Currently, the safety positions are locked down by B.J. Foster and Caden Sterns. With both entering their junior season, the starting roles could become available if Foster and Sterns decide to bolt to the NFL.

Insert Xavion Alford, the incoming freshman from Shadow Creek High School. The four-star recruit committed to Texas over schools such as Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M. Calling himself the ‘100-yard landlord’, Alford is the next great safety in waiting for the Longhorns.

What makes Alford special is his range and athletic ability. His ball skills are particularly extraordinary, being able to compete with receivers all over the field. When given the opportunity to play for Texas, Alford’s ball-hawking ability could improve the secondary to a new level.
