10 potential candidates to become the next star for Texas football

With Sam Ehlinger graduating in May, Texas needs a new face of the program. Here are 10 potential candidates to become the next star for UT:

No. 5 – Tarik Black

Junfu Han, Detroit Free Press

Position: Wide receiver

Year: Graduate transfer

Analysis: Black may only have one season in Austin as a graduate transfer but what he could bring is a much needed experienced receiver for Sam Ehlinger. Losing Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson to the NFL will hurt the Texas pass game.

Never really put up numbers at Michigan, Black’s career-best receiving total in a season is 323 yards. The good news, however, is that nobody was doing much as a wide receiver with Shea Patterson at quarterback. Now with a better passer such as Ehlinger, Black could have a breakout season.

Hopefully in his one season in Austin, Black can find a way to not only make an impact but be a great receiver for Texas. The position group has a question mark around it going into the 2020 season. Black could find himself as a suitable Johnson replacement and possibly be drafted next year.
