What led to Javon Wims going off on CJ Gardner-Johnson?

Details have begun to emerge from the scuffle between former Georgia football WR Javon Wims and former Florida DB CJ Gardner-Johnson.

Details have begun to emerge from the Sunday afternoon brawl between former Georgia wide receiver Javon Wims (Bears) and former Florida defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson (Saints).

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that Wims told Chicago team officials that Gardner-Johnson ripped out his mouthpiece and spit on him prior to his thrown punches.

Gardner-Johnson denied spitting on Wims but it was clear he ripped out his mouthpiece and exchanged some words.

This isn’t Gardner-Johnson’s first brawl this season.  Last month New Orleans’ star wide receiver Michael Thomas, who’s missed nearly the entire season due to nagging injuries, punched Gardner-Johnson during a practice.  Thomas was actually expected to return that week but was then suspended for a game because of the scrum.

It seems as though Gardner-Johnson is a bit of a pest that knows how to push a receivers buttons.

Wims has been suspended by the NFL for two games without pay for his retaliation.
