Hilarious viral video breaks down Javon Wims vs Gardner-Johnson fight

Former Georgia and Chicago Bears WR Javon Wims attacked Saints DB CJ Gardner-Johnson in a wild NFL fight on Sunday. Here’s why.

Former Georgia wide receiver Javon Wims, now of the Chicago Bears, provided the NFL world with the bizarre fights of the year.

In the third quarter of the Bears vs Saints game on Sunday, Wims surprised everybody when he went after New Orleans defensive back C. J. Gardner-Johnson, a former Florida Gator. Following a play that neither Wims or Gardner-Johnson were involved in, Wims ran up, pulled Gardner-Johnson’s mouthpiece out, punched him once, waited and then punched him again.

What made the fight even better was Gardner-Johnson’s reaction to the first blow. He absolutely just ate the first punch before taking another one. This led to an immediate ejection and a two-game suspension for Wims.

But other than it being Georgia-Florida week, what led to Wims losing his mind and going after Gardner-Johnson?

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Wims claims that Gardner-Johnson had spit on him. But based on the upcoming video, that does not seem factually correct. At the start of the second half, Gardner-Johnson actually ripped Wims’ mouthpiece out and chucked it down the field. Wims waited patiently for his chance to retaliate, and he did not let the sports world down.

Watch as the following video hilariously breaks down the fight.

What led to Javon Wims going off on CJ Gardner-Johnson?

Details have begun to emerge from the scuffle between former Georgia football WR Javon Wims and former Florida DB CJ Gardner-Johnson.

Details have begun to emerge from the Sunday afternoon brawl between former Georgia wide receiver Javon Wims (Bears) and former Florida defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson (Saints).

NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero reported on Monday that Wims told Chicago team officials that Gardner-Johnson ripped out his mouthpiece and spit on him prior to his thrown punches.

Gardner-Johnson denied spitting on Wims but it was clear he ripped out his mouthpiece and exchanged some words.

This isn’t Gardner-Johnson’s first brawl this season.  Last month New Orleans’ star wide receiver Michael Thomas, who’s missed nearly the entire season due to nagging injuries, punched Gardner-Johnson during a practice.  Thomas was actually expected to return that week but was then suspended for a game because of the scrum.

It seems as though Gardner-Johnson is a bit of a pest that knows how to push a receivers buttons.

Wims has been suspended by the NFL for two games without pay for his retaliation.

Georgia-Florida week: Former Georgia football WR Javon Wims has been ejected from the Saints-Bears game after punching a former Florida DB.

I simply couldn’t picture a more fitting start to Georgia-Florida week than this.

A scrum broke out between former Georgia wide receiver Javon Wims and former Florida defensive back CJ Gardner-Johnson in the Saints vs Bears game on Sunday afternoon.

Gardner-Johnson was shown putting his finger inside the face mask of Chicago’s wide receiver Anthony Miller which then incited Wims to retaliate.

After the finger poke, Wims gave Gardner-Johnson a subtle tap from behind him and then rung his bell with two very powerful punches before being separated.

WATCH:

Wims was immediately ejected from the game and will likely be fined and possibly suspended.

It was an undisciplined move on Wims’ part but man nothing gets you going like a little Georgia-Florida brawl.  Saturday’s matchup between the No. 8 Gators and No. 5 Bulldogs should be one for the books.
