Texas men’s basketball team is still hanging on by a thread.
They’re currently riding a four-game win streak, defeating two top 25 teams back-to-back. In head coach Shaka Smart’s five-year tenure at Texas, this is the first time he’s accomplished such a feat.
Texas defeated No. 22 Texas Tech 68-58 in Lubbock on Saturday, where Andrew Jones had a career-high 22 points.
The Longhorns haven’t defeated two top 25 teams in a row since the 2013-14 season. According to Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman, Smart revealed that his staff put everything they had into beating Texas Tech.
“I have the good fortune of coaching this team at the University of Texas. Today we played at 11 o’clock against Texas Tech, and as a staff, we said we’re going to put 1,000% of our energy into winning this game.” Smart said.
That’s not the only thing the put their energy into. Take a peek behind-the-scenes of the Longhorns celebrating the crucial Big 12 win.
