When OJ Howard watched Alabama games on TV, he knew he wanted to play for Nick Saban one day. After all, Saban’s resume in Tuscaloosa is nothing short of spectacular.
Alabama has not only become a team that has created a dynasty winning national championships, but it also has become a program that sends players to the NFL every year.
Including OJ Howard.
The Alabama Football twitter account posted this video of OJ Howard sharing why he chose Alabama, and it will give you chills.

Howard knew Saban would be the coach to help him become the best player he could be. He was right.
As a true freshman in 2013, Howard had 14 receptions for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 2014, he had 17 receptions for 260 yards. His junior year in 2015, he had 38 receptions for 602 yards and 2 touchdowns. And finally in 2016, Howard had 45 receptions for 595 yards and 2 touchdowns. In his time at Alabama, he was part of the 2015 national championship.
Howard went on to be drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the 19th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft where he has been since 2017.
In his career with the Buccaneers, he has recorded 94 receptions for 1,456 yards and 12 touchdowns.
At the end of April, the Buccaneers announced that they are going to pick up OJ Howard’s fifth year option.
Howard’s rookie deal was worth about $11.1 million, and he has a base salary of $1,473,602 for the 2020 season. For the 2021 season, Howard will make just over $6 million.
