Analysis: The inside linebacker position has been heavily covered over the last several player profile articles, but Demouy Kennedy shouldn’t be a forgotten man amongst the group.

The former Theodore High School standout, the same school that produced another for Alabama great linebacker C.J. Mosley, is a gifted athlete who brings a complete profile to the position.

Granted at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Kennedy could stand to add more weight to his frame in order to be able to hold up against power offenses in the SEC, but that should come with time. Otherwise, he’s got everything that you could want in an off-ball linebacker.

He’s got sideline-to-sideline range, he’s an some ability as an off-ball blitzer and he shows a lot of promise in coverage — although, he’s still got some work to do as far as his situational awareness when covering his zone.

Like with Jackson Bratton, the 2020 season might not be his year as far as on-the-field impact on defense, but he could find himself in a top special teams role before transitioning into a starting or rotational role at linebacker sometime in 2021.
