Lady Vols volleyball split a pair of matches
It was a bit of a good news, bad news sort of weekend for the Lady Vols volleyball squad.
On Friday night, they rolled over the Alabama Crimson Tide at Thompson-Boling Arena, sweeping them for the second consecutive match in less than a fortnight. The win vaulted the team over the .500 mark and put them ahead of Ole Miss in the conference standings, leaving them just a game behind LSU in the SEC standings heading into Sunday’s face-off with the Missouri Tigers.
Things did not go quite as well on Sunday, as the Lady Vols fell to the Tigers in a closely contested four-match set at home. The loss ended a three-match winning streak for the Lady Vols and marked the second time this season Missouri defeated them in four sets. Tennessee came out strong, taking the first set with authority, only to have Mizzou answer right back in the second set; the remaining two sets were determined by only two points apiece.
The Lady Vols close out their home schedule on Wednesday against the Auburn Tigers. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on SEC Network+.
