Two Texas WR’s selected in first round of ESPN’s latest 2024 NFL mock draft

In ESPN’s latest 2024 NFL mock draft, two Texas wide receivers are projected to be taken off the board in the first round.

Texas will have several highly rated prospects for the 2024 NFL draft.

It’s a great testament to the player development by Steve Sarkisian’s staff over the last three seasons.

Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat, wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders, running back Jonathon Brooks and linebacker Jaylan Ford are just some of the top names that come to mind.

Many feel Sweat will be Texas’ highest rated draft prospect, but in ESPN’s latest mock draft it was two pass catchers projected in the first round. ESPN’s Matt Miller projects Xavier Worthy to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 19 overall pick.

The only other Longhorn that Miller projects to be selected in the first round is Adonai Mitchell to the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 27 overall.

Whether or not Worthy and Mitchell are taken off the board in the first round is yet to be seen, but it’s clear Texas needs to heavily focus on replacing their production ahead of the 2024 college football season.
