It was a frustrating recruiting weekend for the Longhorns, as Tommy and James Brockermeyer committed to Alabama. With their father and older brother all playing at Texas, the twins were a triple legacy and a huge loss for Tom Herman and Herb Hand.
As usual, Twitter had somethings to say about the commitment, both in a good way and in a bad way. Some Longhorn fans had a meltdown and thought the writing was on the wall for Herman. Others thought things were fine and Texas could move forward.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Tommy and James Brockermeyer committing to Alabama:

Tommy Brockermeyer was probably for most people the can't miss recruit of the class. Elite tackle, legacy and brother on the Texas team. Too many reasons to come and play at Texas, but looks like it wasn't to be.

Stanford went 4-8 this past season. Walker Little is still a projected first round NFL draft pick.
Tommy Brockermeyer could go to Kansas and still get drafted. He’ll go to the NFL whether he’s at Texas or Bama. I think the development thing is being overblown.

Why Texas is still in great shape after missing on Brockermeyer twins https://t.co/0IOVFeIPPo

Ouch! Brockermeyer twins 3rd generation legacies. Grandfather played at Texas. Blake Brockermeyer (dad) an All-American 1st Round Pick & is member of the University of Texas Hall of Honor, mom met Blake while attending Texas and their older brother is currently on the team. pic.twitter.com/fKHSq4dPkE

Meanwhile, in Austin. Things are off to a fast start in the "Official Meltdown Thread" after losing two legacy recruits to Alabama.

It really sucks that Texas is gonna miss out on the Brockermeyer brothers. Can we ever get back to the early to mid-2000s where in-state talent dreamed of playing for Texas!!!!!

Missing on the Brockermeyer brothers is the biggest recruiting whiff for #Texas since ______.
— CJ Vogel (@cjvogel3) July 17, 2020
So the Brockermeyer twins from All Saints pick Alabama …. and not Texas. Tom Herman not supposed to lose in-state heavy recruits like this, right?

Live look at aggy realizing they will have to play against the Brockermeyer twins every year after trying to hate on Texas for missing on them. pic.twitter.com/ErSxliyODl
