Top five wide receivers Texas will face in 2020

Covering quarterbacks and running backs already, we now look wide receivers. Here are the top five pass catchers Texas will face in 2020:

No. 4 – Tyquan Thornton

School: Baylor

Classification: Junior

Career vs Texas: Has appeared in two games, but no stats

Playing second fiddle behind Denzel Mims last season, Tyquan Thornton could be the next breakout receiver in the Big 12 next season. As a sophomore, he already ranked seventh in receiving yards in the conference.

Now, as Charlie Brewer’s No. 1 target, Thornton is going to have a lot more opportunities to shine. New offensive coordinator Larry Fedora (who spent 2019 on Tom Herman’s staff as an analyst) will be bringing offensive schemes from LSU as Dave Aranda, the Tigers’ former defensive coordinator, is now the head coach in Waco.

Baylor’s offense as a whole has struggled against the Longhorns since Herman took over in 2017. Thornton has made appearances against Texas, but the Longhorns have kept in at bay. Now, he will be the primary focus in the passing game when the Bears travel to Austin.
