Top five quarterbacks Texas will face in 2020

Even with an improved defense, UT is going to have some challenges with these talented QBs. Here are the top five QBs UT will face in 2020:

No. 3 – Charlie Brewer

School: Baylor

Classification: Senior

Career vs Texas: 53 of 91, 642 yards, two touchdowns, one interception (Three games)

The matchup between Charlie Brewer and Sam Ehlinger goes back to their high school days of classic Lake Travis-Westlake matchups. Back then, Brewer had the advantage, beating Ehlinger’s Westlake all three seasons on varsity. In college, the Texas quarterback currently holds the advantage.

Brewer has faced the Longhorns three times but has never had flashy numbers. Even in the win last season in Waco, Brewer only threw for 221 yards and a touchdown. The Bears are 1-2 in his starts against Texas and are hoping he can lead them to their first victory in Austin since 2014.

As a whole, Brewer’s 2019 was a breakout season, leading Baylor to a 11-3 record, including Big 12 championship and Sugar Bowl appearances. 2020 will be different as the Bears’ offense loses star wide receiver Denzel Mims to the NFL. Plus, defensive-minded head coach Dave Aranda replaces offensive-minded Matt Rhule.

The senior will enter his final year will hope of repeating last season. If Brewer’s game continues to rise, Baylor will be seen as a spooky opponent Halloween night.
