Though many believe Taulia will continue to follow his brother and his family, we must remember that as a sophomore in college he might want some independence.

Tennessee is an amazing option for Taulia because it keeps him in the SEC, he can play Alabama once a year and it gives him a national spotlight to be recognized by NFL scouts and football fans across the nation.

He has plenty of eligibility left in college which means one thing: he has time to compete if he wants to. He will likely have to do just that with the Volunteers as he would enter a quarterback room consisting of redshirt-senior Jarrett Guarantano and Sophomore Brian Maurer.

Assuming he doesn’t get the job in 2020, he would have to beat Maurer for the 2021 starting job. Maurer posted 35 completions on 75 passing attempts for 541 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions.

Tennessee recruited Taulia in 2019 and there was some speculation that he would flip from Alabama, but nothing became of those rumors. Could this be an opportunity for Tennessee to make up for lost ground after missing out on his original commitment?
