Three takeaways from Texas’ win against Baylor

After two consecutive defeats to TCU and Oklahoma, Texas finally got back to winning against Baylor. Here are three takeaways from the win.

When Sam Ehlinger threw the ball downfield, it worked

Early on against Baylor, offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich was not using the greatest asset this team has in Sam Ehlinger. Porous offensive line play was not helping the senior quarterback but none the less, he was being underutilized.

Once Ehlinger was able to throw the ball downfield to his receivers, they were all able to make plays. Tarik Black and Jared Wiley were able to have huge receptions up the middle, while Joshua Moore made a great contested catch on the right sideline.

Ehlinger is far and away the greatest thing the Longhorns have going for them throughout the program. When the protection gives him time to throw the ball downfield, it must be taken advantage of. Yurcich did a better job scheming players open later in the game.
