Texas WR Brennan Eagles opts out of Alamo Bowl, declares for NFL Draft

Texas wide receiver Brennan Eagles announced on Tuesday that he would forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.

The mass exodus continues for Texas.

The Longhorns lost another player on Tuesday as junior wide receiver Brennan Eagles announced that he would forgo his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. He will not play in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.

Although Eagles was primarily used as a secondary receiver throughout his collegiate career in Austin, he compiled an impressive 61 receptions for 1,026 yards in three seasons.

Eagles announced his future plans via his Twitter account.

Five team captains have opted out of the Alamo Bowl to focus on the NFL Draft. On top of that, Texas has lost numerous players over the last few months due to either a decommitment or the transfer portal.

Eagles was widely projected to become Texas’ top receiving threat in 2020, but Joshua Moore ended up having a breakout season. Outside of Moore, transfer wide receiver Tarik Black and inexperienced freshman Troy Omeire will look to fill the void on the outside.
