Texas women’s basketball coach Vic Schaefer has had an eventful first week on the job.
Days after Penn State forward Lauren Ebo announced that she would be finishing her career at the University of Texas, Schaefer landed another prominent transfer from Duke.
Former Duke captain Kyra Lambert announced her decision to transfer to Texas via a tweet on Thursday. She is classified as a graduate transfer with one remaining season of eligibility.
Excited to announce I will be playing my last year at the University of Texas!

Although she served as a three-year captain for the Blue Devils, Lambert battled unfortunate knee injuries that forced her to miss the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. When she returned to the court last season, she started 21 of 30 games for Duke.
Lambert will be able to contribute immediately for the Longhorns during the 2020-21 season. Texas currently has a void at starting point guard with the departure of Sug Sutton, as well as a lack of veteran leadership.
Lambert can fortunately provide both.
