Texas Longhorns Football: Three offensive keys against UTEP

Yes, Texas is favored by 42 points but the Longhorns must execute in certain areas. Here are three offensive keys to the game against UTEP:

Staying healthy

The injury bug has already hit the Longhorns before hitting the field, with slot wide receiver Jake Smith out with a hamstring injury. For the rest of the offense, it will be a key to stay as healthy as possible going into Big 12 play.

A player such as Jordan Whittington, who re-injured himself in the 2019 season opener, will be looking to make it through the full game without a major scare. Injuries hit Texas hard last season, causing struggles down the stretch.

The extra week in between the Big 12 opener against Texas Tech will let Sam Ehlinger and company rest up even more. Getting out of Saturday’s matchup against UTEP with no extra injuries to report next week would be a success for Texas.
