Texas Football roundtable: Which Longhorn will climb the depth chart?

Longhorns Wire staff each select a player that they feel has the most potential to rise up Texas’ depth chart this offseason.

Part of me wanted to choose wide receiver Troy Omeire here as the incoming freshman looks the part and could be considered a darkhorse sleeper, but the athleticism at cornerback is absolutely phenomenal.

Herman has mentioned several times that no one’s starting job is safe in the secondary due to the available talent. Watson is competing for either Jalen Green or D’Shawn Jamison’s starting role.

He has elite athleticism and is a jaw-dropper when it comes to the team’s explosive testing, recently being measured with a 45-inch vertical jump. He has a bright future at Texas and although the competition is stiff, there’s no way that Herman and Co. can keep him off of the field for too long.
