Texas football roster breakdown: The running backs

The running back room for the Texas Longhorns is loaded with talent. What is the outlook for Keaontay Ingram and can he hold off Bijan?

RB3- Bijan Robinson

There may be no slowing down the Bijan Robinson hype train at this point. The number one rated running back in the nation is expected to make a major contribution to the team in 2020. While he won’t be starting right away, he will likely get his opportunity to shine for the Longhorns.

Last season, the third running back was junior Daniel Young. He has seen his production decrease every season since his freshman year. Going into his senior season with Texas, it doesn’t appear that he will get many snaps. Robinson will likely get all of his snaps plus some of Johnson’s and Ingram’s by seasons end.

His high school highlight tape is a bit ridiculous. Robinson can run by you but doesn’t seem to possess elite top end speed. He can also show the physical attributes like power and contact balance. Running routes and catching the football don’t seem to be an issue either. I guess that makes him a “5-tool” player on the football field.
