The vast majority of wins and losses against the SEC come from the Texas A&M and Missouri games. Even without those teams, the Longhorns would have a winning record against the conference. Florida and Kentucky are the only two teams to never beat Texas. The Longhorns outscored them 52-13 in four games.

In the season finale of the 1940 season, Florida and Texas met up at Florida Field in Gainesville. After shutting out the Aggies 7-0, the Longhorns followed it up with a 26-0 shutout of the Gators to close out the year. Texas finished 8-2 and third in the SWC.
