Chiefs undefeated when they win the time of possession battle this season

The #Chiefs have lost the time of possession battle in their past two games against the #Bengals. | from @TheJohnDillon

The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2022 season has had its share of highs and lows, but the team has been incredibly consistent when it comes to winning games under one particular set of circumstances.

The time of possession battle seems to determine the outcome of Kansas City’s games more than nearly any other single factor in their season metrics. The Chiefs have yet to lose a game this season when they possess the ball more than their opponents, and this trend could come to play a role in their fortunes in the AFC Championship Game this weekend.

According to Inside Edge, the Chiefs are a perfect 7-0 this season when possessing the ball longer than their opponents.

Against a team that is as capable as the Cincinnati Bengals, any edge that they can find will serve to lift Kansas City to their third Super Bowl appearance in four years. Clearly, their margin for error against Cincinnati is razor-thin, especially given the Bengals’ prolific offense, and their penchant for besting the Chiefs.

How Sunday’s matchup will play out is anyone’s guess, but it appears that the time of possession battle will be a key indicator of Kansas City’s success. In Week 13 of this season, Cincinnati possessed the ball for 32 minutes and six seconds compared to K.C.’s 27 minutes and 54 seconds. In the Chiefs’ loss to the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game last season, Kansas City only kept possession for 29 minutes and 42 seconds compared to the Bengals’ 35 minutes and 56 seconds.

The Chiefs lost both of these matchups, and will likely lose again if they can’t put themselves in a position to keep their defense off the field against Joe Burrow and company. They need long extended drives from Patrick Mahomes and the offense in order to limit the opportunities their opponent has to put up points.

Kick Off time set for Alabama vs. Tennessee

CBS announces kick off time for Alabama at Tennessee

The Alabama Crimson Tide are currently riding a 15-game win streak against their bitter rivals, the Tennessee Volunteers. However, the Volunteers enter the 2022 match with arguably their best team during that span. Tennessee is currently undefeated and ranked No. 8 in the country ahead of their matchup with LSU this weekend before facing Alabama the week after.

The kick off time for the highly anticipated Top-10 matchup has been determined as Alabama and Tennessee will play at 2:30 PM CT on CBS.

The trip to Knoxville will be the Tide’s toughest test of the season. Tennessee is lead by quarterback Hendon Hooker who has seen a lot of success through the first four weeks of the season and is currently in the Heisman race. As long as the Tide can keep Hooker in check they should be able to escape Tennessee undefeated.

Experts make their picks for Alabama vs. Arkansas in Week 5

Experts predict the outcome of Alabama-Arkansas

The Alabama Crimson Tide will be traveling to Fayetteville this weekend for their second conference game of the season against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Alabama is off to a blazing 4-0 start and is currently ranked No. 2 in the country while the Razorbacks are 3-1 and ranked No. 20 in the country. The Tide are 17.5-point favorites for their first road conference game of the year.

Arkansas is coming off of a disappointing 23-21 loss to the Texas A&M Aggies, so expect them to bring their A-game on Saturday. Fortunately for Tide fans, they are currently on a 14-game winning streak that includes the entirety of Nick Saban’s tenure.

However, Arkansas will be no easy task as they almost pulled off the massive upset in Tuscaloosa last year. Alabama was able to recover an onside kick to survive a 42-35 scare. The Tide will need to control the line of scrimmage and let their receivers make plays if they want to avoid Arkansas’s upset bid.

Here are how the experts see things going down in Fayetteville this weekend.

Epic Alabama-Vanderbilt trailer released

Epic trailer ahead of Alabama-Vanderbilt by SEC Network

The Crimson Tide are under two hours away from the start of their 2022 SEC campaign when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores. In anticipation of the game, the SEC Network released an epic trailer featuring the lights of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama enters the matchup undefeated and ranked No. 2 in the country, while Vanderbilt is off to a hot 2-1 start with their only loss coming on the road to a ranked Wake Forest. The last time these two sides met was back in 2017 when Alabama traveled to Nashville and won by a convincing 59-0.

Vanderbilt, however, is on a 21-game losing streak in the conference with no end in sight. An upset today would be up there for the most shocking in the history of college football. Alabama enters the matchup as a massive 40.5 point favorite per Bet MGM.

How many CFB teams are undefeated vs. Alabama?

Few teams have never lost to the Crimson Tide, can you guess how many?

The University of Alabama football program is the gold standard in college football all across the nation. While there have been a few bumps in the road, the Crimson Tide stay at, or near, the top in all-time greatest programs.

The program’s resume is impressive: 18 national championships, three Heisman trophies and a head coach that received almost 20 times more votes for the 2017 Alabama Senatorial election (421) than he has all-time losses in his nearly 15-year career at Alabama (23).

Some younger college football fans my not know this, but Alabama actually use to lose a decent amount. In fact, there are some programs Alabama hasn’t beaten at all.

In total, there have been 11 programs to have beaten Alabama and never suffer a loss.

After Week 6, Seahawks are NFC’s only undefeated team

After the Packers lost to the Buccaneers in Week 6, the Seattle Seahawks are the NFC’s only remaining undefeated team.

The Seattle Seahawks did not play a snap of football over their Week-6 bye but still ended up coming out of the weekend winners none-the-less.

After the Packers’ 38-10 loss to the Buccaneers, the Seahawks remain the NFC’s only undefeated team at 5-0 on the year.

As far as the NFC West is concerned, the Seahawks are the clear division leaders for now. San Francisco (3-3) did Seattle a favor Sunday night, beating Los Angeles and handing the Rams (4-2) their this second loss this season.

Arizona (3-2) still has a game to play this week and has a chance to climb in the divisional standings after squaring off against the Cowboys for “Monday Night Football.” Win a win, the Cardinals could tie the Rams at 4-2.

The Seahawks have a bonus practice Monday afternoon but no participation reports are required to be released until after Wednesday’s session.

Coach Pete Carroll will address the media at 3:50 p.m. PT.

Texas Football: 35 FBS teams who the Longhorns are undefeated against

In Texas Longhorns history there are 35 FBS teams who still have yet to win against the boys in burnt orange.

The Texas Longhorns football history dates back to 1893. Texas started out as an independent from 1893 to 1895. Following that season the Longhorns joined the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association (SIAA) until 1904 when they became independent again. After a brief two-year stint with the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the Longhorns joined the Southwest Conference where they would remain for the next 80 years.

In 1996 the school joined the Big 12 Conference where they are still members of two. This current run makes it the second-longest stint in a conference behind the old SWC. During those 124 years of college football the Longhorns have played a lot of football. Totaling 1,324 games played with a school winning percentage of 70.4.

Longhorns Wire recently published the 44 teams that the Longhorns haven’t played up until this point in time.

There were also seven teams that the Longhorns have played in their history but never beaten.

In the final piece of this series on Longhorns history, we identify the 35 FBS teams that have taken the field against Texas but have never won. Of those 35, 14 hail from the Power Five conferences. The Longhorns most recent victory over Utah gave them their second win over the Utes in their brief history.
