Defense steps up with better effort tackling
One of the biggest issues from a week ago was the tackling from the defense or should I say a lack thereof. Defensive coordinator Chris Ash couldn’t give a number of how many they missed on Saturday against the Red Raiders. He was surprised as to just how bad the performance they gave against Tech.
Look for an embarrassed defense come out and try to be more physical in this game. Longhorns need to limit the ability of TCU of making plays after contact. Too many times Tech was able to get chunk plays or scores when the Longhorns were unable to take down the ball carrier on first or second contact.
If this team wants to make a run at the conference championship and a playoff berth, it starts with their defense. Ash was brought in to fix their missed tackle issues which happened under Todd Orlando’s watch as well. The Longhorns were given a 29.5 grade on their tackling from PFF, DeMarvion Overshown led the way in a stat you don’t want.
