The run game gets rolling

The run game should look to be a focal point in this matchup. As a whole they have averaged 105 yards per game on the ground. That is without any one player having a huge performance on the ground. Against Texas Tech the Longhorns ran for 214 yards with Keaontay Ingram leading the way. He racked up 7.4 yards per touch. Ehlinger and Roschon Johnson also ran the ball 16 times a piece with three rushing touchdowns combined.

When the Longhorns have the run game rolling they are just that much more dynamic on offense. All three backs should get opportunity to run the ball plus Ehlinger can tuck it and run as well. Offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich could look to get the run game going on run pass options. If the front is bailing to play the pass, this quartet of runners could be in for a big game.

The TCU defense had a hard time stopping the Cyclones run game last week. They gave up a total of 213 yards on 28 carries. That puts it at 7.6 yards per rush, helped by a 75 and 49-yard touchdown runs. Given the amount of big plays they were unable to stop, look for Ingram to bust a long run or two.
