Texas Basketball: Longhorns a No. 1 seed in lastest projections

Texas is in a position to earn a No. 1 seed for the first time since 2003.

Texas basketball finds itself in a great position less than a month away from Selection Sunday.

The Longhorns currently sit with a 20-5 record, ranked No. 6 in the nation. Rodney Terry stepped in as head coach and has his team competing for the Big 12 regular season title.

Bracket analyst Andy Katz predicts Texas to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Joining Alabama, Purdue and Houston as top seeds in each region.

Texas is enjoying one of its best regular seasons in quite some time. The Longhorns last earned a top seed in March Madness back in 2003 ahead of a Final Four run.

Six games and the Big 12 Tournament remain on the schedule for Texas to beef up its resume down the stretch. Winning what is widely believed to be the strongest conference in college basketball would be an excellent argument for a No. 1 seed.
