Who is starting on defense for Wisconsin at Ohio State?

How will the defense line up?

Big Ten play is here for the 2022 Wisconsin Badgers, and there is no tougher test than their first one. On Saturday night, Wisconsin will line up against Ohio State in primetime from Columbus.

What will the Wisconsin defense look like on Saturday night? In terms of what needs to happen, the recipe is simple. Execution will be a lot harder. Wisconsin has to force C.J. Stroud to think about pressure while doing a good enough job in one-on-one battles in the secondary. This is arguably the best wide receivers room in the country, and a new-look Wisconsin secondary has to play their best football of the season.

The Badgers release their Week 1 special teams depth chart

The long wait is over this Saturday as the Badgers prepare to open the 2022 season against Illinois State.

Wisconsin’s special teams unit has been up and down in recent years, but the Badger group is headlined by one of the best punters in recent Badger history. Andy Vujnovich is not only the strongest punter in the country, but also Wisconsin’s current all-time leader in punting average (minimum two punts).

The Badgers will have a new starting kicker as well as new kick returners in 2022. Here is a complete look at the Week 1 special teams depth chart for Wisconsin football as they get set for Illinois State:

Wisconsin releases their Week 7 depth chart

Ahead of Saturday night’s matchup with Army, Wisconsin football released their Week 7 depth chart. Most things are staying the same for a Badger team coming off of a 24-0 win at Illinois.

The most notable change is a small one, but comes at an important and deep position. Coming off of a breakout 131-yard rushing performance, freshman RB Braelon Allen has been upgraded to a co-RB2 alongside Isaac Guerendo. Those two RB’s will back up Chez Mellusi, who retains the top spot on the depth chart. The move also comes just as Wisconsin dismissed RB Jalen Berger from the program.

Wisconsin has changes at RB in their Week 7 offensive depth chart

The Badgers make a small change at RB in their latest depth chart

Earlier this morning, Wisconsin released their Week 7 depth chart and had changes at the RB position. The Badgers are preparing to play Army on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Camp Randall in Madison.

The Wisconsin running back room has had a tumultuous weekend as four-star 2020 commit Jalen Berger was dismissed from the program. There was no clear reason given for Berger’s dismissal, but it does open up carries for other Badger RB’s. Saturday’s win over Illinois was the emergence of freshman Braelon Allen, who was recruited to Wisconsin as a LB but has switched positions to RB. Allen rushed for 131 yards on 18 carries and had his second career touchdown.

While most of the depth chart stayed consistent, there are small changes at certain positions, including RB. Here is a look at the complete Week 7 offensive depth chart:

Five starters are OUT for Wisconsin today against Wake Forest

The injury report is out for Wisconsin football’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against Wake Forest. For yet another week, the report brought…

The Wisconsin football program has released its pregame status report heading into their Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Excluded from the injury list, meaning he will suit up and play, is running back Jalen Berger—a player who has missed the team’s last two games.

Listed as out for the game, however, are wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis, left tackle Cole Van Lanen, defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk and right guard Logan Bruss.

Also out for today is backup running back Nakia Watson and backup cornerback Semar Melvin.

The absence of Pryor and Davis today will mean the two receivers combined to play only five games this season—that after the offense showed promise Week 1 against Illinois when the two players were both healthy.

Quarterback Graham Mertz and the Wisconsin offense will now need to see tight end Jake Ferguson and wide receivers Chimere Dike and Jack Dunn step up in the receiving game and replacements along the offensive line to play well if the unit wants to compliment their rushing attack and find success against a soft Wake Forest defense.

Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz is ‘good to go’ for Wednesday’s game

Wisconsin Badger quarterback Graham Mertz saying during a press conference today that he will suit up and play against Wake Forest this week

During the Wisconsin Badgers’ 20-17 victory over rival Minnesota, quarterback Graham Mertz missed much of the second half after suffering an injury during a red zone rush attempt.

Despite the injury, Mertz was still listed as the starter on the team’s depth chart that was released a few days ago, so signs were pointing towards the redshirt freshman being able to suit up for the team’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against Wake Forest.

Today that news was confirmed, as the Badger quarterback said during a press conference that he’s “good to go” for Wednesday’s game.

We now await the status of wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis—players who have missed the last several weeks but, as they have been all season, were still included in the team’s two-deep.

The Badgers and Demon Deacons are set to kick off on December 30 at 11 a.m. CST as each team looks to finish the season above .500.

The Wisconsin Badgers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons are set to face off in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Wednesday. Here is five things to know…

The Wisconsin Badgers are off to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl this week as they look to end their season with a victory and finish the year above .500.

Their opponent is the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, a team that also sits at .500 after an up-and-down regular season.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl wasn’t necessarily what the Badgers–or Badger fan–wanted entering the year, though playing in a Bowl Game and having a chance to complete the season is a success given everything that has happened since March.

Team preview: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Wisconsin Badgers are set to take the field in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Here is a team preview of…

The 3-3 Wisconsin Badgers are set to close out their 2020 season in just four days when they take the field against the 4-4 Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.

It is a finish line that seemed nearly impossible to reach at points this year, with the Big Ten initially postponing the season and the Badger football program experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak after their Week 1 victory against Illinois.

But we are now just a few days away from the finish line becoming reality and even though it’s been a bumpy road on the field to reach this point, completing a season during a year like this should be considered a success.

Many times when the Badgers enter a Bowl game it is against a team they have some history with—especially when they find themselves in or near the New Year’s Six.

Wake Forest, however, is a program Wisconsin has never faced–though the Badgers are 9-9-1 all-time against ACC schools and 4-1 against the conference in Bowl Games.

So there isn’t the level of familiarity that comes with a matchup against Oregon from the PAC-12 or Auburn from the SEC.

Wisconsin’s bowl-week depth chart sees a few key players return

The Wisconsin Badgers released their depth chart ahead of next week’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup with Wake Forest. Included are Jalen Berger,

The Wisconsin Badgers released their game-week depth chart for December 30’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl matchup against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Included in the depth chart are freshman running back Jalen Berger, left tackle Cole Van Lanen and wide receivers Danny Davis and Kendric Pryor–all players who missed last weekend’s win against Minnesota.

The Big Ten recently changed its COVID-19 rules to allow players to return to action 17 days after testing positive–different from their previous 21-day window. This is the likely reason Berger is listed again as the starter on the depth chart.

It’s also worth noting at the running back position that Nakia Watson is back as Berger’s backup after missing the Minnesota game.

For Pryor and Davis, there have been several weeks they’ve missed the game due to injury but were listed in the team’s game-week depth chart–so this in no way confirms their availability for the Bowl Game.

Aside from those two notes and Van Lanen returning at left tackle, there are no surprises in the depth chart with the game now six days away.

Five key starters for Wisconsin are OUT today against Minnesota

Wisconsin Badgers will be without running back Jalen Berger, wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis and more today against Minnesota

The Wisconsin Badger offense has been anything but healthy this season, with starting quarterback Jack Coan going down with a foot injury before the season started, members of the team testing positive for COVID-19, wide receivers Kendric Pryor and Danny Davis missing several weeks and more.

That trend continued today as according to the team’s depth chart they will be without key starters RB Jalen Berger, RB Nakia Watson, WR Danny Davis, LT Cole Van Lanen and WR Kendric Pryor for the second straight week.

Quarterback Graham Mertz will now rely on Chimere Dike and Jack Dunn at wide receiver and Garrett Groshek at running back, a combination that hasn’t worked very well for the last few weeks.

One good sign for the Badger offense is this Minnesota defense is nothing close to that of Northwestern, Indiana or Iowa, or even to the unit they had last season.

The game will kick off at 3 p.m. CST and be available on the Big Ten Network and the FOX Sports app.
