New Jersey four-star Willy Love pushes back his commitment date

William Love has pushed his college commitment date back.

One of the highest-ranked recruits in New Jersey, Willy Love will not be committing this week.

A four-star according to Rivals, Love is a consensus top 10 player in New Jersey. He plays for Woodrow Wilson (Camden, N.J.).

Love was originally scheduled to commit on July 6, but announced on Wednesday that he is now pushing back his announcement. In addition, it seems that Love is reopening up his recruitment again.

He told RutgersWire early in the week that he had a final four of Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse. Instead, he tweeted on Wednesday that ” will no longer be committing this Thursday(July 6th) My recruitment is 100% open & will be so further to all schools outside of the “Lucky Seven”.

 

In mid-June, Luck announced a a ‘Lucky Seven’ that included Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Rutgers, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Rutgers currently has three committed athletes at the linebacker position. The most recent commitment in the position group is from Samarian Robinson, who de-committed from UCF and committed to Rutgers in June following an official visit.

William Love talks his injury last season and his upcoming official visit to Rutgers football.

Willy Love is set to have an official visit at Rutgers football in June as one of New Jersey’s top players is headed towards a summertime announcement.

Love is an athlete prospect from Woodrow Wilson High School (Camden, N.J.)  He is a consensus top-10 player in New Jersey in the 2024 recruiting class.

Rivals and ESPN.com have Love as a four-star recruit with ESPN slotting him  inas the No. 173 player in the nation. Both sites rank him as the fourth-best player in the state. He could play safety or linebacker at the next level.

This past season was a character-building one for Love, who suffered a collarbone injury that limited him to half the season.

With a summertime decision likely for Love, he plans on making his announcement after receiving counsel from his family, coaches and Latish Kinsler, his adviser. As for his official visits, Love has only scheduled: Rutgers on the weekend of June 9.

The Georgia Bulldogs and defensive backs coach Fran Brown have offered a scholarship to 2024 ATH William Love.

The Georgia Bulldogs and defensive backs coach Fran Brown have offered a scholarship to William Love. Love is a four-star recruit and is a member of the class of 2024.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound athlete plays football for Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey. Love additionally plays basketball for Woodrow Wilson.

Rutgers, Boston College, Penn State and Texas A&M are among the schools that have offered football scholarships to Love. The four-star athlete primarily stars at defensive back and outside linebacker  for Woodrow Wilson.

Love is a strong tackler and plays some nickel cornerback in high school. Nickel, or star, is a tough position to play. Georgia’s William Poole started at star in the College Football Playoff, and his performance helped UGA win the national championship against Alabama.

Brown continues to focus his recruiting on the area of the country he knows best. Brown has deep connections to Philadelphia and New Jersey.
