“She voiced that she struggled with [Alopecia], and Chris Rock thought it was cool to crack a joke,” Villanueva said. “We are not with Jada everyday to know the level of the struggle, but Will does. As I don’t condone violence, Im proud that Will Smith stood up for his wife.” Villanueva added, “As a fellow Alopecians, I stand with Will and Jada.”

Celtics players, Twitter react to Will Smith – Chris Rock Oscars incident

Boston players, alumni and media echoed the array of responses to the slapping incident that took place at the 2022 Oscars Sunday.

On Sunday evening, an annual cinematic awards festival spilled over into the pop culture zeitgeist for all of the wrong reasons as renowned actor and rapper Will Smith slapped comedian and host of the moment Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after Rock made a joke at Smith’s wife expense, the comedian joking about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s lack of hair due to alopecia.

In the Boston Celtics media sphere, the incident caught fire as it did elsewhere, with players and local media weighing in on what they’d seen, or turning it to their own designs by meme-ifying it in ways likely to displace the standard-use meme of Batman and Robin having a similar such moment.

Unlike those two superheroes, however, these were two real people — let’s take a look at how the wider Celtics world navigated that cultural flashbulb moment, for better or worse.

Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face during the Oscars before winning Best Actor

What just happened?

As they do every year, the Oscars were simply rolling along. Some of the most talented people in Hollywood were winning the tiny gold man on a pedestal. Laughs were shared. Tears were shed. Everyone was having a grand old time!

Then Chris Rock came to the stage to present. And in what has to be an Oscars first, some sort of confusing chaos broke loose.

During a short monologue, the comedian turned to a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke about actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, who has spoken about her autoimmune disorder alopecia. Her husband, actor Will Smith, appeared to take exception and stepped onto the stage. Except Smith didn’t only step.

He slapped Rock across the face.

Here’s a video of the entire sequence, which the Oscars’ domestic broadcast bleeped out, leading to confusion all over the Internet.

Warning: NSFW — Language

Was it real? Did Smith really slap Rock?

In the commercial break immediately after, Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry pulled Smith aside and appeared to console him.

But the night wasn’t over.

The Best Actor and Best Actress categories are once again filled with heavy hitters like Javier Bardem (Being the Ricardos), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick…Boom!), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) and Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter).

Here’s a look at the full list of nominees. The Academy Awards will air on Sunday, March 27 on ABC.

Last time they had the 18th pick, Saints drafted the great Will Smith

The last time they had the 18th overall pick, the Saints drafted the great Will Smith:

The New Orleans Saints locked up the 18th overall draft pick in 2022 on Sunday night with their win over the Atlanta Falcons, and it’s a slot they’ve only ever been in once before. Back in 2004, the Saints were on the clock at No. 18 and went to one of their most frequent wells: the Ohio State Buckeyes.

They selected rookie defensive end Will Smith with the pick, and he went on to have a terrific career. Despite only being named to one Pro Bowl, Smith started 120 of the 139 games he played in New Orleans, ultimately ranking fifth in the team record books with 67.5 sacks. He also helped lead the Saints to a championship in Super Bowl XLIV. Known for his bullying size on the field and steady demeanor, Smith was a pillar of Sean Payton’s locker room in the early years of his coaching tenure.

The work ethic and standard Smith established has endured a decade later, with his former protégé Cameron Jordan surpassing him to rank second-best in the Saints’ all-time sacks leaders (his 107 total now trails only Pro Football Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson’s 115 official sacks). Jordan has often credited Smith for mentoring him early in his NFL career, and the results speak for themselves.

It’s just a shame that Smith still isn’t with us. He was killed in a 2016 shooting and was posthumously enshrined in the Saints Ring of Honor in 2019, survived by his wife and children. He had planned to return to the team as a coaching intern that summer, as his former teammates like Jermon Bushrod, Zach Strief, Dan Campbell, and Aaron Glenn have done. Who knows what he could have done, and whose lives he could have touched, had he lived to pursue a coaching career?

Hopefully the Saints can find a prospect who can follow in Smith’s footsteps. They’ve done a better job drafting in the middling rounds than early on, but they’re at a critical juncture in team history and could really use a hit. Adding a nine-year starter like Smith to a team that just found a winning record despite all the challenges on their plate would be fantastic.

WATCH: Will Smith hilariously trains with Tua Tagovailoa

Will Smith is without a doubt one of the most talented and famous actors of all time. Smith earned his fame in the ’90s, starring in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.

Smith has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, and has won four Grammy Awards.

Smith decided it was time to step out of the spotlight and into the training room. Earlier today on his YouTube channel, Smith released a video of him training with former Alabama star Tua Tagovailoa at the Miami Dolphins training facility.

Not only did Smith and Tagovailoa spend time in the weight room, but they also took the practice field to toss around the pigskin.

From the looks of the video, it would seem both Smith and Tagovailoa chose the correct career paths!

Supreme Court tosses verdict in killing of Saints’ Will Smith

The Supreme Court vacated the conviction of the man in the killing of the Saints’ Will Smith

The United States’ Supreme Court vacated the manslaughter conviction of Cardell Hayes in the 2016 killing of New Orleans Saint defensive lineman Will Smith.

Smith was shot to death after an automobile incident. His car hit Hayes’ car and the Saint drove off. Hayes followed Smith and shot him in the subsequent altercation.

Hayes was charged with second-degree murder after shooting Smith during an altercation that followed a traffic incident in the Lower Garden District. But an Orleans Parish jury ended up convicting Hayes of a lesser crime, manslaughter, on a split 10-2 vote.

The ruling is based on the SCOTUS finding Louisiana’s non-unanimous jury verdicts unconstitutional in the Ramos v. Louisiana case, allowing all convictions still on appeal to get a new review in light of Ramos. The high court looked at Hayes’ case Monday morning and vacated the conviction, sending the case back to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans for review.

The 4th Circuit is expected to grant a new trial, as appellate courts have in several other split-jury cases. In July, Ronald Gasser, who also killed a football star, former NFL running back Joe McKnight, after a road rage incident in Jefferson Parish, was already granted a new trial by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal in Gretna.

It will be up to Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams, who is just being sworn in Monday, whether to pursue a new case against Hayes. Because the jury convicted Hayes on a “responsive verdict,” reducing the charge from second-degree murder to manslaughter, Hayes’ appellate attorney Eric Santana says Hayes could only be charged with manslaughter the second time around.

‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ reunion trailer reveals original Aunt Viv is back

Wow. This really happened.

We’ve seen the cast of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunite a few times over the last few years, but they haven’t quite had an official reunion just yet.

But that reunion that we’ve all been waiting for is coming. And it’s coming soon. On Friday, Will Smith shared the trailer for the upcoming HBO Max Fresh Prince reunion on Instagram.

The show was taped back in September in celebration of the hit sitcom’s 30th anniversary.  The entire cast showed up.

And when I say the entire cast, I mean the entire cast. Including someone who you probably never thought would be there — Janet Hubert aka The original Aunt Viv.

Take a look.

Shouts to OG Aunt Viv, man. What a pleasant surprise to see her back with the Banks family one last time.

She left the show after the first three seasons because, reportedly, she had beef with Will Smith. There was some bad blood between those two and they weren’t on speaking terms for years.

Now, it looks like the two are good. We saw them sitting together when Smith first posted pictures of the reunion.

Now, we’ll finally get to know what they talked about. And the internet is excited about their conversation along with the rest of the reunion show.

You absolutely love to see it. This is going to be good.
