WR Will Fuller posts Instagram story about his injured finger

It’s not clear when the picture was taken.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Will Fuller posted a story through his Instagram account that showed his left hand wrapped and what appeared to be a brace on his middle finger as he sat in a hospital bed.

With the image was text that read: “Dang finger man,” complemented with an angry emoji. At this point, it’s unknown when this picture was taken, but this is the first time Fuller has posted on social media since suffering the injury that caused him to miss the remaining 13 games of the season.

Fuller recorded four catches for 26 in the two games he appeared in for Miami after signing a one-year deal worth $10.6 million.

Fuller is set to be a free agent at the start of the league year, and he’ll likely have to take a prove-it deal with a team before he gets the type of money he received last offseason.

WR Will Fuller had a setback in rehab, not expected to return this season

This will likely be the end of his time with the Dolphins.

When the Dolphins signed wide receiver Will Fuller as a free agent this past offseason, there was cautious optimism around the deal. That feeling was because he was a solid wideout in Houston when he was healthy, but the problem was that he was never healthy for long.

Not many were surprised when Fuller went down in Week 4, only the second game of his season, with a broken finger. The 27-year-old has been on injured reserve ever since.

We finally got an update on his status on Monday at Brian Flores’ media availability. Flores told the media that Fuller suffered a setback in his recovery that will likely end his season.

With his deal being for just one season, this will likely end his tenure with the Dolphins as well, as he finishes his year with four receptions for 26 yards. This will be remembered as one of the worst contracts signed by this regime, and maybe even in the organization’s history.

Where exactly is Texans WR Will Fuller at in recovering from his groin injury?

Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien says wide receiver Will Fuller’s groin injury is “progressing” amid postseason practice time.

The Houston Texans could use all the speed they could get when facing the Buffalo Bills’ talented pass defense.

Though they have that in receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Kenny Stills and DeAndre Carter, they would like a bit more. They can get that with injured wide receiver Will Fuller.

Fuller, who sustained a groin injury in Week 16 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is presumed to be out of the playoffs. Early reports indicated that he would not play for three weeks. However, that may not be the case, as the Texans see progress with his recovery.

“I think he’s progressing and we’ll know better as the week goes on,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said of Fuller on Monday. “I wouldn’t be able to tell you that right now but I would say he’s headed in a good direction, but we’ll have to see as the week goes on.”

Fuller either did not finish or did not play seven games in the 2019 regular season. Though a game-changer for the Texans’ offense with his precision route-runner and speed, he’s unreliable due to his health.

The Notre Dame product dealt with hamstring injuries before suffering the groin one against the Buccaneers. Despite so, he had a career-year in 2019, tallying 49 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns. The Texans are 7-2 in games that he starts and finishes.

If he plays, Houston will be at an advantage. Deshaun Watson is a better quarterback when he has Fuller’s speed on the field, as it allows him to take advantage of his deep-ball accuracy and aggressiveness. The Bills could be in trouble if No. 15 trots onto the field on Saturday.

If he doesn’t, the Texans have a plan in place. Stills will take over the No. 2 receiver duties alongside Hopkins. Carter will play a slot role while Keke Coutee and Steven Mitchell project as backups.

Report: Texans WR Will Fuller out for three weeks

Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller is sidelined for the next three weeks due to a groin injury.

Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller will not play in the Week 17 season finale against the Tennessee Titans after suffering a groin injury in Saturday’s win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Fuller’s injury likely has a three-week recovery time. There is an outside chance he plays in the Texans’ first playoff game and a greater one that he returns if they were to advance.

Fuller suffered the injury in the first half of the 23-20 win in Tampa Bay. He previously missed Week 14’s loss to the Denver Broncos with a hamstring injury; an ailment that sidelined him from Week 7 to Week 12 before.

By missing the game, Fuller will have either not finished or not played in seven games in 2019. In games that he does start and finish, the Texans are 7-2.

He has never played a complete season, which, for the Texans, is concerning.

“He’s a great guy, love coaching him, but it’s hard for him to stay healthy,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said of Fuller on Saturday. “That’s the bottom line. Hopefully, we can help him stay healthy because this team is a very good team when we have him in the lineup.”

On the season, Fuller has 49 receptions for 670 yards and three touchdowns. His speed and precise route-running open up the offense for quarterback Deshaun Watson, who benefits from defenses giving attention to him.

Fuller has never played a full season in his four-year career. The closest he got to doing so was in 2016, when he played in 14 games, missing times for hamstring and knee injuries.

Throughout his career, Fuller has struggled with lower-body injuries specifically. In 2018, he played in just seven outings due to a torn ACL. In 2019, his crux is the hamstring and now groin.

In the meantime, expect wide receiver Kenny Stills to receive an uptick in snaps.

Ka’imi Fairbirn’s 29-yard field goal sealed the deal for the Houston Texans in a 24-21 victory over division rival Tennessee as they put up 10 straight points in the final quarter of the game. It also gave Houston control of the AFC South with two weeks remaining in the regular season. Deshaun Watson completed 19 of 27 passes for 243 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Carlos Hyde took the pressure off of Watson with 26 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins looked like an All-Pro at wide receiver, hauling in six catches for 114 yards, while Kenny Stills was on the receiving end of two Watson touchdown passes.

Tennessee compiled 432 yards of offense in the game and was equally dangerous in the passing game and with the run. Ryan Tannehill threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns, while the Titans tallied 163 yards rushing.  Fortunately for Houston, Tampa Bay will be without some key offensive weapons. The Texans defense has had trouble with the run the last several weeks and has also given up some big plays in the passing game. Zach Cunningham has been a key player in the absence of J.J. Watt and had 14 tackles and half a sack last weekend. How will this defense show up after a short week and can it focus on the Buccaneers knowing that they have a rematch with Tennessee right around the corner?

Meanwhile, the Bucs have been red hot and are looking for their fifth consecutive win. Jameis Winston set a single-season record for passing yards with the team’s 38-17 victory in Detroit. Winston threw for 452 yards, four touchdowns and one interception to bring his total to 4,573. He also leads the league in interceptions, so the question remains which Winston will you see at game time? Mike Evans had a season-ending hamstring injury two weeks ago and this week the hamstring bug caught Chris Godwin, who had a standout season with 1,339 yards receiving. That means Breshad Perriman, who scored three touchdowns in the win against the Lions, could be poised for another productive game.

The defensive unit is playing better and better each week as well. The Buccaneers rush defense is ranked first in the league and holding opponents to an average of 73.3 yards per game. Shaq Barrett picked up another sack against the Lions, which tied him for the most in a season (16.5) with Warren Sapp. Sean Murphy-Bunting and Lavonte David led the team with eight tackles. Bunting, part of a young secondary, recorded his first interception of the year, which he returned 70 yards for a touchdown.
