Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, Ciara author ‘Why Not You?’ book for kids

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara just released a new book for children, named after their “Why Not You?” foundation.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, can now add one more accolade to their already-impressive resumes.

The super couple teamed together to write a book for children called “Why Not You?” The book carries the same name as their charitable foundation – by no coincidence. The picture book, which was released on March 1, was illustrated by Jessica Gibson.

Here’s what Amazon has to say about the new release:

Why not you? Amazing you! You’re a winner! You’re so strong! You are perfect and important—you and all your gifts belong!

We all have big dreams! Sometimes it’s hard to imagine our big dreams coming true. But what if someone saw all the amazing and spectacular parts of us—our winning smiles, our fancy feet, our warm hearts—and asked, “Why not you?”

Whether it’s becoming a football player or a pop star or the president or a scientist: Why not you?

In this picture book debut, superstars Ciara and Russell Wilson encourage readers to see themselves achieving their dreams, no matter how outrageous they may seem. It’s a lyrical celebration of self-esteem, perseverance, and daring to shoot for the stars.

The Wilsons appeared live on the Today show on Tuesday to do a little self-promotion.

Seahawks nominate Russell Wilson as team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year

The Seattle Seahawks have announced quarterback Russell Wilson as the team’s nomination for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award.

The Seattle Seahawks made a very important announcement Thursday morning, nominating quarterback Russell Wilson as the team’s Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

The prestigious honor recognizes an NFL player for “outstanding community service activities off the field, as well as excellence on the field.”

Each team around the league can nominate one player for the award.

Wilson is widely known for his philanthropic and charitable efforts, especially through his Why Not You Foundation and weekly visits to Seattle Children’s Hospital.

“It’s been really important for Ciara and me, especially with everything that’s happened in 2020, to step up and try to make a difference in areas like racism, social injustice, and food insecurity and to be able to impact a family that is facing tough challenges,” Wilson said via the press release.

“Since I got here in 2012, I understood there was an opportunity to use my platform to love, serve, and give back,” Wilson continued. “That’s been one of the core principles of life that my parents taught me. It’s a principle that Ciara and I want to be able to teach not only our kids, but their kids one day.”

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson files trademark for phrase ‘Let Russ Cook’

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has filed a trademark for the commonly uttered phrase “Let Russ Cook.”

Russell Wilson recently filed a trademark for the phrase “Let Russ Cook,” a phrase commonly uttered by Seahawks fans over this past offseason.

“The listing on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s website indicates the trademark would cover cooking utensils, cookware and cooking attire such as chef’s hats and aprons,” writes ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “The application was filed Oct. 6.”

It is safe to say that the Seahawks have heeded the call, as the coaching staff has consistently put the ball in Wilson’s hands. Though Wilson’s interception count has increased, the Seahawks are 6-1 and on top of the NFC West largely as a result of the new pass-heavy offensive approach. The Seahawks still have a few challenging opponents on their schedule, so they cannot let up.

Wilson’s agent Mark Rodgers stated that the proceeds from the trademark will go to Wilson’s Why Not You Foundation.

Russell Wilson, Ciara will be executive producers on new movie

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and Ciara’s production company Why Not You will executive produce the movie ‘Not Without Hope’ .

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Grammy award winning singer Ciara, are set to executive produce a new movie called ‘Not Without Hope’ through their production company Why Not You.

The film will star Miles Teller, who plays the lone survivor of a real-life boating tragedy that occurred in 2009 and involved a pair of former NFL players, Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith, who both tragically passed away in the Gulf of Mexico.

The movie will be directed by Rupert Wainwright and is going to be featured at Cannes upcoming virtual market.

‘Not Without Hope’ is based on a 2014 novel of the same name, written by Nick Schuyler, who Teller will be portraying in the film.

Schuyler and three friends, Will Bleakley and former NFL players Cooper and Smith, took off on a fishing trip back in 2009. Severe storms capsized the boat and left the four of them attempting to survive in frigid waters.

Cooper, Smith and Bleakley unfortunately all passed from hyperthermia, but Schuyler was rescued after 46 hours in 60 degree water.

This will be Wilson and Ciara’s first foray into feature films with Why Not You productions.

Russell Wilson remembers the naysayers when he was drafted

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson used Twitter to share some old tweets from 2012, doubting his ability to play QB at the NFL level.

When the Seattle Seahawks selected Russell Wilson with the 75th pick in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft, the selection was met with widespread criticism.

Many felt Wilson was not tall enough to be an NFL-caliber quarterback, and that his style of play was not conducive to success in the NFL – with some even suggesting he should stick with baseball, where he was a fourth round pick by the Colorado Rockies out of college.

Wilson obviously proved everybody wrong, and then some, becoming one of the league’s most elite signal-callers and earning the biggest payday for a quarterback in league history.

And while his genial nature may be a sign of someone who is over it, Wilson took to Twitter to let this weekend’s draft picks know that he has not forgotten what the doubters said about him.

Wilson’s message to the next crop of NFL draft picks is clear: don’t let the naysayers get you down – they can’t stop you from reaching your peak.

Wilson’s success is proof of this, and he has helped pave the way for many undersized, mobile quarterbacks to get chances at the next level – many who have had tons of success.

The NFL draft will begin at 5:00 p.m. PT on Thursday, April 23 and will resume on Friday and Saturday.
