Denver Broncos Foundation contributed more than $5 million to local nonprofits in 2023

The Denver Broncos Foundation contributed more than $5 million in financial and in-kind support to local nonprofits in 2023

While the Denver Broncos on the field have produced enough turmoil to have a documentary, their work off the field hasn’t garnered much attention but it has been noble nonetheless.

Through the Denver Broncos Foundation, the franchise contributed more than $5 million in financial and in-kind support to local nonprofits in 2023, an impressive number.

The Foundation would also more than double its financial commitment to grantees and program partners in some key focus areas: youth health and wellness initiatives, youth and high school football, dynamic in and out of school programming and equitable access to career pathways.

With the Broncos’ vision, more than 200 organizations and more than 175,000 youth in Colorado have been positively impacted by this outreach.

As aforementioned, the Broncos will end this season in chaos for what has transpired on the field between Russell Wilson and Sean Payton. But what they have done off the field is making an impact on our youth.

Denver Broncos Foundation donates $1 million to Café Momentum

The Broncos donated $1 million to Café Momentum, a restaurant and culinary training facility that hires youth exiting juvenile detention.

The Denver Broncos Foundation just took a huge step in terms of helping the social climate for our youth. Earlier this week, the Foundation donated $1 million to Café Momentum, an award-winning restaurant and culinary training facility.

Café Momentum makes an effort to hire youth exiting juvenile detention and employs them as paid interns. In this internship, the youth have the opportunity to run all aspects of the business.

“We are thrilled to announce this strategic partnership with Café Momentum in an effort to comprehensively serve justice-involved youth in the Metro Denver Area,” Denver Broncos Foundation Executive Director Allie Engelken said in a statement.

“With the dedicated support of Owner and Board Chair Carrie Walton Penner, the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group and entire board of directors, the Foundation is committed to deepening educational and economic opportunities and pathways for all youth beyond high school.”

With the donation, this will help Café Momentum provide more services including case management, education, mental health and workforce development. Congrats to all parties involved in this partnership.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, Ciara author ‘Why Not You?’ book for kids

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and his wife Ciara just released a new book for children, named after their “Why Not You?” foundation.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, can now add one more accolade to their already-impressive resumes.

The super couple teamed together to write a book for children called “Why Not You?” The book carries the same name as their charitable foundation – by no coincidence. The picture book, which was released on March 1, was illustrated by Jessica Gibson.

Here’s what Amazon has to say about the new release:

Why not you? Amazing you! You’re a winner! You’re so strong! You are perfect and important—you and all your gifts belong!

We all have big dreams! Sometimes it’s hard to imagine our big dreams coming true. But what if someone saw all the amazing and spectacular parts of us—our winning smiles, our fancy feet, our warm hearts—and asked, “Why not you?”

Whether it’s becoming a football player or a pop star or the president or a scientist: Why not you?

In this picture book debut, superstars Ciara and Russell Wilson encourage readers to see themselves achieving their dreams, no matter how outrageous they may seem. It’s a lyrical celebration of self-esteem, perseverance, and daring to shoot for the stars.

The Wilsons appeared live on the Today show on Tuesday to do a little self-promotion.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ foundation announces legacy brick project for Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park

A cool way for the entire community to get involved in the renovation of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park.

Back in September, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, pledged to support the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Square Park renovation on Swope Parkway and Woodland Avenue. The goal was to create a state-of-the-art and all-inclusive playground for children and families in Kansas City to enjoy.

Now, Mahomes and his foundation have announced a way that everybody can get involved in supporting the park. On Monday, they announced a legacy brick project which will allow members of the community to create a personalized brick that will be featured in a special section of the park.

“I’m really excited about this project because it perfectly aligns with the mission of the foundation to bring all kids together in a healthy and safe way to just be kids,” said Patrick Mahomes, via a press release. “I hope this is a project that the Kansas City community can rally around and enjoy for a long time.”

Supporters who purchase a brick will be able to inscribe a custom message, with five different styles of bricks available for purchase. 15 and the Mahomies envision this as a great way to get the entire community involved in the project.

“We want this play site to truly be a community project that individuals, families and organizations can be a part of and will be proud of for generations,” Marques Fitch, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Director said, via a press release. “We created this legacy brick project to help encourage full community participation, in addition to Patrick Mahomes’ personal commitment and the foundation as a whole.”

There is a limited supply of bricks available and the deadline to be a part of this legacy project is May 26, 2021.

Broncos OLB Von Miller launches campaign to ‘sack COVID-19’

“With your help, we will achieve our goal of providing 5,800 meals to students in need,” Von Miller said.

After recovering from the coronavirus, Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller has started a fundraising campaign to help “sack” COVID-19.

“What we have seen over the past two months is unprecedented,” Miller says in a video posted on his foundation’s Twitter page. “The coronavirus has affected everyone in some way. I have spent the past few weeks social distancing as I recovered from the virus myself.

“But there are thousands of kids in my home states of Colorado and Texas who are unable to get daily meals because schools are closed for the foreseeable future. In fact, one in seven kids already live with hunger. To help these kids out, I’m launching the ‘Von Sacks COVID’ campaign. With your help, we will achieve our goal of providing 5,800 meals to students in need. To support my campaign, please visit vonsackscovid.org today.”

Miller tested positive for the coronavirus in mid-April and tested negative two weeks later. He is the only current member of the Broncos’ organization to have had a known case of COVID-19.

Broncos players to wear special cleats in Week 14

Broncos players will wear special cleats in Week 14 to show support for special causes.

Denver Broncos players will participate in “My Cause, My Cleats” this week when they face the Houston Texans on the road.

The NFL has been doing this once a season since 2016 to give players an opportunity to “showcase the charitable cause that is most important to them for a national audience” through custom-designed cleats.

“A lot of people have something they have a cause for and something that they have aspirations to help or bring awareness for,” Broncos cornerback Chris Harris said Tuesday.

“This is just a great job by the NFL being able to allow us to do this and allow us to have something to stand for and something to represent this weekend. I’m glad they started doing that, for sure.”
