Twitter reacts to Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney’s latest drop that led to interception vs Patriots

Twitter didn’t hold back in its criticism of Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney after he dropped a pass that led to an interception against the Patriots

The Kansas City Chiefs have a serious issue with their receiving corps, which seems wholly unable to keep from ruining games for reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes.

One player, mercurial pass catcher Kadarius Toney, is the easiest member of the group to single out as the primary issue for the offensive unit.

After his now-infamous offensive offside penalty that wiped out a potential game-winning play against the Buffalo Bills last week, Toney dropped a well-thrown pass from Mahomes against the New England Patriots that was intercepted and led to a touchdown that cut Kansas City’s lead to 10 points.

To say that Toney’s performance in 2023 has been disappointing would be an understatement. At times, it seems like he is actively keeping the Chiefs from scoring points, and after this latest gaffe, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Andy Reid should bench him.

Check out Twitter’s top reactions to Toney’s dropped pass against New England:

WATCH: Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire makes incredible TD catch vs. Patriots

#Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire made an incredible leaping touchdown catch against the #Patriots in Week 15.

The Kansas City Chiefs offense finally got into gear against the New England Patriots in Week 15 when Patrick Mahomes found running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a touchdown in the third quarter of the hotly-contested matchup.

Edwards-Helaire had to make a spectacular play on the ball to reel in the score, jumping high in the air to secure the catch before falling in the end zone for six points.

Check out his remarkable effort here, and notice the body control he displayed to come down with the ball:

With star running back Isiah Pacheco out for this game, Mahomes and Andy Reid have relied on Edwards-Helaire for some serious production, and the former first-round pick hasn’t let them down.

With a little more than a quarter remaining in the Week 15 tilt, Edwards Helaire should be considered the prohibitive favorite to earn a game ball for his outstanding efforts against New England.

WATCH: Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. intercepts Patriots QB Bailey Zappe

Watch #Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. intercept #Patriots QB Bailey Zappe to set Kansas City up in scoring position.

The Kansas City Chiefs are starting to pull away from the New England Patriots in a Week 15 tilt that could have huge implications for the AFC playoff race.

After Kansas City was forced to settle for a field goal in the third quarter, New England took possession of the ball and tried to test the Chiefs’ defense with a pass near the sideline.

Budding linebacker Willie Gay Jr. made his move after Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe targeted Pharaoh Brown, intercepting the ill-advised pass before making a long return that set up Kansas City in the red zone.

This play may have been all the Chiefs needed to put this game away. Patrick Mahomes would find running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a touchdown on Kansas City’s second offensive play after the pick to take a 14-point lead at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusets.

Expect Andy Reid to get conservative now that the Chiefs are in control of this crucial late-season matchup.

WATCH: Chiefs Patrick Mahomes hits Jerick McKinnon for TD vs. Patriots

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes hit Jerick McKinnon for a touchdown against the #Patriots in Week 15.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a halftime lead over the New England Patriots in Week 15 after a pretty pass from Patrick Mahomes to Jerick McKinnon scored a touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the second quarter.

The score was McKinnon’s second touchdown of the day after he flipped a pass to Rashee Rice earlier in the game to get Kansas City on the board in the first quarter.

While the Chiefs’ four-point lead may seem safe to casual observers, the Patriots have proven to be a worthy adversary for the defending Super Bowl champions. Kansas City is set to receive the second-half kickoff when play resumes and could start to pull away in the box score if they can put together more scoring plays in the third quarter.

Expect Mahomes and Andy Reid to get creative late in this game as they look to guide the Chiefs to their ninth win of the 2023 season.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s huge gain vs. Patriots

Twitter was talking about #Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s 48 yard pickup against the #Patriots in Week 15.

The Kansas City Chiefs are without star running back Isiah Pacheco for their Week 15 matchup against the New England Patriots, and veteran Clyde Edwards-Helaire has proven to be up to the task of filling in during his absence.

The former first-round pick made his presence felt early in the game when he caught a screen pass from Patrick Mahomes and scampered 48 yards downfield to set up Kansas City in the red zone.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid would get creative near the goal line to punch the ball into the end zone, calling on Jerick McKinnon to flip the ball to rookie receiver Rashee Rice for a touchdown.

While Edwards-Helaire wasn’t involved in the scoring play, his magnificent effort to get Kansas City downfield didn’t go unnoticed on social media, where fans across Chiefs Kingdom made their thoughts on his huge gain known.

Check out some of Twitter’s best reactions to Edwards-Helaire’s huge pickup:

WATCH: Chiefs WR Rashee Rice scores tricky touchdown vs. Patriots

#Chiefs rookie receiver Rashee Rice scored a touchdown on this tricky play in Week 15 against the New England #Patriots.

The Kansas City Chiefs have earned an early lead over the New England Patriots in Week 15 after veteran running back Jerick McKinnon found rookie receiver Rashee Rice for a touchdown on one of Andy Reid’s signature trick plays near the goal line.

The scoring play occurred late in the first quarter after a long gain by Clyde Edwards-Helaire on a screen got Kansas City into the red zone. Set up near the goal line, McKinnon received a direct snap from center Creed Humphrey, faked a run to the left, and flipped the ball to Rice who was working against the grain back to the right.

The Chiefs have struggled in the red zone at times this season, and plays like this will serve to get the team back in rhythm ahead of January’s AFC playoffs.

Expect Reid and the rest of Kansas City’s coaching staff to continue getting creative in crucial situations to get points on the scoreboard.
