Chiefs HC Andy Reid reveals lesson learned from loss to Bills: ‘We’ve got to take care of business’

Kansas City #Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reveals lesson learned from loss to the Buffalo #Bills: ‘We’ve got to take care of business’ | @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs won’t go undefeated this year as they suffered their first loss on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters after the game, describing the first loss as a learning experience.

“Things you can learn, the main thing is that they’re a good team and, if you have a few mistakes in there, they can capitalize on them, but you keep battling, and normally good things will happen,” said Reid. “They did a nice job on that last drive, so we’ve got to take care of business on those.”

Reid pointed out another miscue on the sidelines from Xavier Worthy, which eliminated a big play from the stat sheet.

“Yeah, he’ll (Worthy) get better at those,” said Reid. “Then we’ll give the ball a little quicker as we go, so I’ve got to see it and look at it on tape and see exactly if, if he was able to drag his foot, if that was possible, if that’s the case, then he can learn from.”

Worthy was the team’s leading receiver on Sunday, so there were positives; however, Reid believes he still should have called more running plays.

“I probably could call some more runs; when it was all said and done, we had opportunities,” said Reid. “We did a pretty nice job with it, with the exception of the short yardage.”

Leading rusher Kareem Hunt had 60 yards on 14 carries, a far less workload than he’s become used to since signing with the team.

How the Justin Fields package became the Steelers’ secret weapon

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have unlocked their ultimate offensive weapon with the debut of the Justin Fields rushing-package in Week 11.

In what can only be described as a purely defensive contest, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 11 victory over the Baltimore Ravens paved the way for the debut of the long-awaited ‘Justin Fields package’ on offense.

Russell Wilson struggled against the Ravens’ defense, throwing for 205 yards while completing 63.9% of his passes and producing his lowest QBR of the season: 67.5. However, much of the blame should be placed on Pittsburgh’s pass protection, as the Ravens constantly had Wilson under pressure and sacked him four times.

Where the offense looked promising, however, was in several Justin Fields packages that featured three plays: one QB-power play and two QB-RB option plays that sealed the Steelers’ Week 11 victory.

Wilson’s ‘moon ball’ is a deep threat unlike anything the NFL has seen this season, but Pittsburgh’s implementation of Fields’ rushing abilities will make opposing defenses second-guess every meeting with the Steelers.

Wilson and Fields can tear through defenses in their own unique ways, and it was refreshing for fans to see what the Pittsburgh Steelers will be capable of moving forward when utilizing both talented QBs.

Steelers fans react to Chris Boswell’s incredible Week 11 performance

Chris Boswell shines again, leading the Steelers to an 8-2 start in 2024 going six for six on field goals in Week 11’s victory.

The ‘Wizard of Boz’ strikes again. While fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers anticipated QBs Russell Wilson and Lamar Jackson to create a high-scoring Week 11 contest, they were instead treated to another Chris Boswell masterclass.

Boswell has achieved accolade after accolade to begin the 2024 season, being named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in both September and October, as well as kicking his 1,000th career point in the Steelers’ Week 3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

His best performance in 2024 came all the way back in Week 1, kicking a perfect six-for-six field goals from 57, 56, 51, 44, 40, and 25 yards.

Boswell matched his season-best six field goals made in the Steelers’ Week 11 victory over the Ravens, kicking for 57, 52, 50, 32, 32, and 27 yards.

The Steelers’ kicker is putting together one of his best seasons to date, with his confidence, accuracy, and consistency rallying his team to an unbelievable 8-2 start in 2024.

Von Miller shared perfect message to Broncos fans after beating Chiefs

Von Miller shared a perfect message to Broncos fans after the Bills beat the Chiefs on Sunday.

The Denver Broncos suffered a heartbreaking 16-14 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week after the Chiefs blocked a last-second field goal attempt that could have been a game-winner for the Broncos.

One week later, Denver rebounded in a big way with a big 38-6 victory over the Atlanta Falcons at home. The Broncos might have also got some satisfaction when they looked up scores after the game and saw that the Chiefs fell to the Buffalo Bills 30-21, marking KC’s first loss of the season.

Former Denver pass rusher Von Miller played a role in Buffalo’s win with two tackles (one behind the line), one quarterback hit and one sack for a nine-yard loss.

With that sack, Miller passed Derrick Thomas to rank 17th on the NFL’s all-time sack list with 127.5 career sacks. Miller, of course, wore No. 58 with the Broncos because Thomas was the player he grew up idolizing.

After beating the Chiefs, Miller took to social media with a perfect message to fans in Denver.

“Broncos Country … I gotchu!!!! 😉🐴” Miller wrote on his Instagram story.

He’s no longer a Bronco, but Miller’s still a thorn in the side of Kansas City’s offense, and he’s still beloved in Denver.

Ravens kicker blames Week 11 field conditions for missed field goals

Justin Tucker says the field surface in Pittsburgh “wasn’t ideal” after missing two field goals in Week 11, while Chris Boswell was perfect.

Sorry, Justin Tucker: no one is buying the excuses you’re trying not to make for your lackluster Week 11 performance. For fans unaware of the recent developments behind Tucker’s post-game comments, the Ravens kicker initially accepted fault for his two missed field goals during the contest but ultimately pointed to poor field conditions in Pittsburgh as a contributing factor.

When asked if the field conditions at Acrisure Stadium directly contributed to his two missed field goals, Tucker tried to avoid deflecting blame, but ended up doing just that: “I wouldn’t say the surface was an issue, but it wasn’t ideal.” He doubled down on the less-than-ideal field claims, adding, “Throughout the course of the game, the most action takes place between the hashes, and it naturally just gets chewed up.”

While some speculated that the field conditions could have been affected by the Panthers-Clemson CFB game on Saturday, Steelers kicker Chris Boswell had no issues. Boswell made all six of his field goal attempts in Week 11, including an impressive 57-yard bomb.

Chiefs owner might be more mad than fans after Week 11 loss to Bills

According to a report, Kansas City #Chiefs owner Clark Hunt was less-than-thrilled with his team’s loss to the Buffalo #Bills in Week 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs took their first loss of the 2024 regular season in Week 11 when the Buffalo Bills defeated the defending Super Bowl champions 30-21 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.

The Chiefs, who have developed one of the NFL’s most bitter rivalries with Buffalo in recent years, seemed to be on the verge of a perfect season before Sunday’s matchup against the Bills.

Despite its loss, Kansas City still holds the best record in the AFC.

But, according to a post by NFL reporter Darren Smith after the game, Chiefs owner and CEO Clark Hunt was reportedly livid after the Chiefs were defeated by Buffalo.

Though it remains unclear exactly what aspect of Kansas City’s performance miffed Hunt, Smith doubled down on his report when a fan questioned his reporting in the comments under his original tweet.

Stay tuned to see if this situation develops into a broader issue, or if Hunt’s rage is tamed before the Chiefs’ Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

Seahawks save their season, upset the 49ers 20-17

Seahawks save their season, upset the 49ers 20-17

In honor of the new Wicked movie coming out, let me be the first among the 12th Man to take after the Munchkins and declare “ding dong the witch is dead!” Of course, this is in regards to the Seattle Seahawks finally snapping their six-game losing streak to the San Francisco 49ers. On Sunday, the Seahawks claimed their first win over the Niners since December 5th of the 2021 season with a triumphant 20-17 victory.

It has been an incredibly frustrating two and a half years for Seattle in this rivalry, as San Francisco has had their number for far too long as of late. But in Week 11, the Seahawks finally struck back. This was not just a great moral victory, it may have actually saved Seattle’s season.

As of now, the Seahawks, 49ers and Rams are all tied in the NFC West with identical 5-5 records. The Rams won earlier on Sunday, improving to 5-5, which put extra pressure on Seattle to avoid falling to 4-6 and perhaps watching their playoff hopes fly too far out of reach.

The Seahawks were down only 7-6 at halftime, their most competitive first half against the Niners since the 2022 Wild Card game. Things seemed to be on the verge of spiraling out of control when Geno Smith threw his league-leading 11th interception on third down of Seattle’s opening drive of the third quarter. Thankfully, the Seahawks defense held the Niners to only a field goal.

Actually, Mike Macdonald’s defense was the story of the game for Seattle. Showing incredible improvement in the Rams game from Week 9, the Hawks carried it over in a massive way to Week 11. In the first meeting, the Niners had 358 yards of offense and scored 36 points. On Sunday, they were held to 277 and only 17 points. Actually, it is the first time since December 2018 that Seattle kept the 49ers under 20 points in any game.

The Seahawks’ defense gave their offense, which had struggled all day long, one final opportunity. Trailing 17-13, Geno Smith and Co. had their shot at redemption. Their shot to end this streak and rewrite the narrative on the season. It was a shot they took and landed, as Smith engineered an 11-play, 80 yard drive which was capped off by this 13-yard scramble to the end zone.

Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco are all technically tied, but due to the worst divisional record among the three, the Niners now currently occupy last place in the NFC West. Of course, with these teams all being so tight, anything can happen week to week. But the fact the Seahawks are in the mix and not climbing from the basement is nothing short of a monumental victory in the long run.

So sing loudly, 12’s. The witch is dead. At least, for now.

Final score: Bills end Chiefs’ perfect season with 30-21 win over Kansas City

The Buffalo #Bills defeated the #Chiefs 30-21 in Week 11 to break Kansas City’s undefeated record.

The Kansas City Chiefs had their hopes for an undefeated season dashed by the Buffalo Bills in Week 11.

The Bills, who entered the game with an 8-2 record, ended Kansas City’s nine-game winning streak in a game that ended in a 30-21 final score in Buffalo’s favor.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen put together an impressive performance, throwing for 262 yards and one touchdown against the Chiefs’ outstanding defense.

Patrick Mahomes threw two interceptions in the game but threw three touchdown passes in the game that kept Kansas City within striking distance of Buffalo.

The matchup’s most consequential play came late in the fourth quarter when Allen ran for a touchdown to put the Chiefs down by two scores.

Though this game didn’t end the way fans in Kansas City had hoped it would, the Chiefs showed outstanding effort on both sides of the ball and may get their chance for revenge against the Bills in the AFC playoffs.
