Where do the Broncos rank in the NFL’s waiver wire order?

The Broncos rank 12th in the NFL’s waiver wire order this year. Do you think they’ll add any players today?

After sitting initial 53-man rosters on Tuesday, NFL teams will now look to add talent from the waiver wire.

Players with fewer than four years of experience who were cut this week are subject to the waiver wire. The waiver wire is ranked by reverse order of the previous season’s standings. So the Carolina Panthers (2-15) are No. 1 and the Kansas City Chiefs (11-6) are No. 32.

When a player is waived, teams can put in a waiver claim to add that player to their roster. Of the teams that put in a claim, the highest team in the waiver order will be awarded the player.

For example, if the Denver Broncos (No. 12) and Los Angeles Rams (No. 19) put in a claim for the same player, Denver would be awarded the player. Here’s a look at the NFL’s waiver wire order ahead of claims today.

Where are the Chargers in the waiver wire order?

The Chargers are near the top.

Now that the Chargers’ roster is set to the mandatory 53 players, they will begin reviewing the waiver wire for potential additions.

Every player with fewer than four years in the NFL is subject to the waiver wire, and teams can submit claims on players until 9 a.m. PT on Wednesday.

Waiver claims are then awarded based on the order of the waiver wire, which is determined by the finish of the 2023 season. The Chargers sit at No. 5.

Given the Bolts’ high ranking on the list, there is a good chance they can land a good player.

NFL waiver wire order following Tuesday’s roster cuts

The Panthers will get the first crack at Wednesday’s waiver claims.

Well, at least the Carolina Panthers are No. 1 in something.

Now that every team is down to their initial 53-man roster, there is a plethora of players just waiting to be pounced on. Those who have been waived by Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline can be claimed off waivers by 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

Leading the pack with the first crack at every player from now through the third week of the regular season are the Carolina Panthers and general manager Dan Morgan, who has made his intentions of taking advantage atop the list quite clear this offseason.

“So I think the pretty cool thing about us right now, we don’t want this to be every year, but we’re first in the waiver wire transactions,” Morgan said back in May. “So anybody that gets cut, we’re gonna have first dibs to be able to claim them. I think we’ll be aggressive there. I think if the right opportunity presented itself, the right player presented themself—that we’d have the opportunity to claim ’em and get ’em on our roster.”

But what about the rest of the league?

Here is the full waiver wire order ahead of Wednesday’s claims:

View the NFL’s waiver wire order after roster cuts

The Broncos are fifth overall in the NFL’s waiver wire order this week.

The Denver Broncos finalized an initial 53-man roster on Tuesday, but the roster moves are not over just yet.

After the team’s preseason finale last week, Broncos coach Sean Payton explained that roster shuffling will continue, starting with waiver claims on Wednesday morning.

“It takes a minute [to sort out the roster],” Payton said. “Then we’re evaluating everyone else’s cuts. We claim fifth this year which is high. That’s a good spot to be in.”

The NFL’s waiver wire order is the same order the NFL had for the draft earlier this year. Before trades, Denver was set to pick fifth overall in the 2023 draft, so the team will be fifth in the waiver wire order this week.

Here’s a look at the NFL’s complete waiver wire order.

After waiver claims are processed, teams can begin building 16-player practice squads. After that, attention will turn to the regular season.

NFL Waiver Wire Order

Broncos are 9th in the NFL’s waiver wire order

The Broncos are ninth in the NFL’s waiver wire order after roster cuts.

The Denver Broncos set their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday, but the team might not be done making moves just yet.

Players who were waived Tuesday will hit the waiver wire Wednesday morning and teams will be able to make claims. Every claim will be finalized by 10:00 a.m. MT. One hour later at 11:00 a.m. MT, Denver can begin building a 16-player practice squad.

Before assembling a practice squad, though, the Broncos will have opportunities to claim players off waivers. Denver is ninth in the waiver wire order going into the regular season. If the Broncos claim any players, the team will have to make corresponding roster moves to make room for the new additions.
