Why is Greg Norman’s logo on volunteers’ clothing at the Sanderson Farms Championship?

Greg Norman is everywhere.

JACKSON, Miss. — Volunteers are a vital part of any golf tournament.

They help with numerous aspects that can’t be seen on TV, like crowd control and helping to locate golf balls and keeping score. Volunteers are also given similar clothing so they can be located easily and look similar.

However, the volunteers’ clothing at this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi, has an interesting logo on it.

A shark.

Or to be more specific, Greg Norman’s shark featured on his clothing brand, the Greg Norman Collection.

Nicknamed “The Shark” during his playing career, Norman is now the CEO of the LIV Golf Series, which is currently in numerous legal battles with the PGA Tour.

Volunteers at the Sanderson Farms Championship were sporting jackets and shirts with Norman’s logo on them. There’s a good chance most have no idea what brand the apparel is, though considering what’s happening on a wide scope, it’s quite ironic.

So, how does Norman’s logo get spread throughout a PGA Tour event?

“You want to give the volunteers a good shirt at a reasonable price, and that’s what that is,” Sanderson Farms Championship executive director Steve Jent told Golfweek. “I can’t afford to outfit them, if we want to give more money to charity, in something really high end, but you want to give them something really good. It’s just kind of saved a few extra dollars there.”

Had a bad day? This shuttle assistant at the Valero Texas Open will make everything better

One of the tournament’s biggest hits is Thunder, an adorable Golden Retriever along for the ride.

SAN ANTONIO — Had a bad day? We all have, especially on a golf course.

But for a number of players at the Valero Texas Open, the shuttle ride between the 18th green and the first tee offered a chance to relax, settle the nerves and get a little fur between their fingers.

Wait, what about fur?

One of the tournament’s biggest hits is Thunder, an adorable Golden Retriever along for the ride with his owner, Clint Rodgers. When he first offered to volunteer at the event a few years back, Rodgers was worried how he’d get around without his support animal. He brought the mellow dog along and the rest is history.

Thunder is now so popular that players rush over to the cart to see him, remembering him from previous events.

“A number of the players seem to recognize him,” said Rodgers, who also has a cane to help stay more mobile. “And the wives who are here all want to ride with Thunder.”

When Rodgers started working the event at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course, he lived nearby. He’s since moved to his home state of Missouri but the response to Golden’s potential absence was so overwhelming that he commuted back to Central Texas for this year’s 100th anniversary event.

Sure, Ben Crenshaw, Lee Trevino, and others might be more closely tied to the tournament’s history, but Thunder has woven his way into the fabric of the event.

Shuttles are in high demand for the first two rounds as players who started on the back nine have a lengthy commute to the first tee box. The duo of Rodgers and Thunder were seen throughout the two days, with Thunder often resting his head on his owner’s shoulder while they plodded along.

The need for shuttles is lower on Saturday and Sunday, so how might Thunder spend his time?

“He’ll find something. He really likes to flirt with the pretty girls. He picks his head up as soon as he sees one,” Rodgers joked, and on cue, Thunder picked his head up and pointed toward an oncoming woman.

“OK, we’ve got to go!”

Risky tweets: Tennessee fans confident Vols will beat Georgia

Tennessee fans are feeling pretty confident about their chances of knocking off Georgia this weekend.

The No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (9-0) travel to Knoxville this weekend to take on the unranked Tennessee Volunteers (5-4) in an SEC East showdown.

The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on CBS.

Tennessee comes into this game feeling very confident after an impressive 45-42 Week 9 road win over Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Georgia, which boasts the nation’s best defense that has now allowed more than 13 points in a game this year, has its sights set on an undefeated season and the College Football Playoff.

This may be the best offense Georgia will face in the regular season, and that’s enough for Tennessee fans to think the Vols can pull off the upset over the Dawgs.

Georgia is favored by 20.5 points, yet the VolNation is still calling for an upset this weekend in what will be a hostile Neyland Stadium.

The fourth-ranked team in all of college football, Alabama, had a rough first half against the Tennessee Volunteers, but bounced back strong in the second half and finished the game 52-24.

Tennessee held a one possession lead in the second quarter, but the Crimson Tide answered quickly shortly after and went into the half with a one-touchdown lead.

Star quarterback Bryce Young had a stellar game, throwing 31 completions on 43 attempts for 371 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also managed to use his legs for 42 yards and two additional touchdowns.

Brian Robinson once again led the Crimson Tide ground game, rushing for 107 yards on 26 carries for three touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide defense did an amazing job containing a hot Hendon Hooker, who only completed 19 passes for 282 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

WATCH: Bryce Young uses his legs to tie the game against Tennessee

Alabama responds with a Bryce Young run to tie the game up!

Alabama football has had a bit of a hectic first half, which led to a Tennessee lead over the Crimson Tide 14-7. However, after a solid defensive stand, and some help from the student section, the offense starts the drive with some great field position.

Young made sure to capitalize on the great opening to the drive, and reached the end zone.

There has been criticism in the past regarding Young’s hesitancy to run the ball, but he didn’t have any reservations from just a few yards away from the goal line.

He ran it in, after seeing no available options, and ties the game at 14 a piece with plenty of time left in the second quarter.
