Chiefs OL Kingsley Suamataia reacts to his bizarre avatar on ‘Madden 25’

#Chiefs OL Kingsley Suamataia was underwhelmed by his avatar in Madden 25, which doesn’t look like him in the slightest.

Most players in the NFL probably look forward to seeing their digital likeness appear in yearly releases of the video game Madden Football, but Kansas City Chiefs rookie Kingsley Suamataia was hit with a surprise upon seeing a screenshot of himself in the game’s newest release.

It appears that Suamataia is a player whose image hasn’t yet been rendered in the digital world, so the rookie tackle looks like a generic avatar that bears no resemblance to him in real life.

Kingsley Suamataia reacted to the image of himself in the video game on Twitter with just three emojis, perhaps the only reaction necessary.

His image on the virtual field may not match real life. Still, Kingsley Suamataia impressed on the actual field versus the Jacksonville Jaguars in his first preseason appearance in the NFL and is expected to make his second outing tomorrow when the Chiefs face the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium.

See how you can catch tomorrow’s game live.

Wisconsin Badgers ranked as a top team in EA Sports College Football 25

Top 25 team rankings for EA Sports College Football 25

EA Sports unveiled the team power rankings for its soon-to-be-released College Football 25 video game on Saturday.

The release included deep dives into every top 25 team in the video game, plus an exclusive look at some of its gameplay features. Those deep dives were also complete with the ratings of every team’s top players, their offensive and defensive schemes, and what to expect from each group during the 2024 season.

Wisconsin was one of those top 25 teams. EA Sports partnered with 247Sports college football analyst Josh Pate for a first look at the Badgers in the video game. He discussed the team’s top players on both sides of the football and the 2024 team’s potential under head coach Luke Fickell.

The Badgers are not expected to crack any preseason top 25 ranking after finishing both 2022 and 2023 with 7-6 records. But EA Sports College Football is somewhat high on the Badgers, and actually has the program ranked comfortably within the previously-mentioned top 25.

Here is a look at that complete top-25 power ranking:

Wohler is the No. 84 overall player in the game, given a 90 player rating. He is the No. 3-ranked strong safety, behind only Virginia’s Jonas Sanker (92 OVR) and Penn State‘s Kevin Winston Jr. (91 OVR).

Hallman, meanwhile, is up at No. 62 overall with a player rating of 91. He is the No. 9 overall cornerback, trailing only Michigan star Will Johnson (96 OVR), Notre Dame‘s Benjamin Morrison (94 OVR), Arizona’s Tacario Davis (92 OVR), Louisville’s Quincy Riley (92 OVR), Ohio State‘s Denzel Burke (91 OVR), Virginia Tech’s Dorian Strong, Oregon‘s Jabbar Muhammad and Kentucky‘s Maxwell Hairston (91 OVR).

The best players in the game are Johnson, LSU star LT Will Campbell (96 OVR), Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II (96 OVR), Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce Jr. (95 OVR), Ohio State safety Caleb Downs (95 OVR) and Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter (95 OVR).

Arch Manning stars in commercial for ‘EA Sports College Football 25’

Arch Manning — Peyton’s nephew — delivers a pre-snap cadence that features ‘Omaha’ in his commercial for ‘EA Sports College Football 25.’

This spring, a report emerged that Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning had opted out of EA Sports College Football 25.

Either that report was inaccurate or EA Sports found a way to make Manning reconsider because the 19-year-old quarterback released a commercial for the video game on his Twitter/X page on Tuesday.

In the ad, Arch’s uncle, Eli, reads a play to the QB that includes “Z rizz.”

“Are you sure about this?” Arch asks after hearing the play call from Eli.

“Absolutely! I mean this is the best way to focus on football, all right?” Eli exclaims. “So get your eyes on the safety, be vocal out there!”

“Yes, coach! I mean — uh, Uncle E,” Arch says.

Arch then delivers a cadence that includes “Omaha” (of course) before throwing a virtual touchdown pass.

The sophomore quarterback wrapped up the commercial with a twist on the company’s signature tagline: “EA Sports, I’m in the game.”

You can view the complete video below:

Arch, of course, is the nephew of Peyton and Eli and grandson of Archie. Arch’s dad, Cooper, was a star wide receiver in high school before his football career was cut short by spinal stenosis.

Arch is currently the backup at Texas behind Quinn Ewers, but football fans will be able to make him a (virtual) QB1 when CFB25 hits stores on July 19. The video game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Story update: Pete Nakos of On3Sports has reported that Arch was paid between $50,000-$60,000 to promote the video game as part of an NIL deal. The QB also gets $600 and a copy of the game, which is the standard payment for opting in.

EA Sports College Football 25 video game overall power rankings for 2024 season

EA Sports College Football 25 overall power rankings for 2024 season

EA Sports College Football 25 finished its unveiling of the team and unit rankings for the soon-to-be-released video game on Friday.

Those rankings have recently included the stadium atmospheres, as well as the top 25 offensive and defensive units. Wisconsin ranked favorably in two of the three — No. 7 overall in toughest stadium environments and No. 15 in the defense ranking.

Those slots, plus the low ranking of the team’s offense, all make sense entering the upcoming football season. Wisconsin has high expectations after a poor 7-6 2023 season. Its defense should take another step forward in year two under head coach Luke Fickell and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel, while the offense remains a question as the program transitions to Phil Longo’s air raid.

In all, Wisconsin should be competitive with every team it faces this season — even with top-ranked Oregon, Alabama and Penn State. But the program may be a year or two away from breaking through and defeating those teams.

That sentiment is reflected in where Wisconsin ranks in the overall team ratings for the upcoming release of EA Sports College Football 25:

The 2024 Wisconsin Badgers are the No. 18-ranked team in EA Sports College Football 25 with an overall rating of 87.

The ratings release follows the video game sharing its offense and defense power rankings. The Badgers boast one of the best defensive units in the game, which is a big reason why the team as a whole is up at No. 18.

The video game’s ranking of best overall teams is unsurprisingly led by No. 1 Georgia (95 OVR), No. 2 Ohio State (93 OVR), No. 3 Oregon (93 OVR), No. 4 Alabama (92 OVR) and No. 5 Texas (92 OVR).

Wisconsin is down in the 16-20 range that also includes Colorado, Oklahoma, USC and Virginia Tech.

The Badgers enter the 2024 season with expectations of a resurgence in year two under head coach Luke Fickell and offensive coordinator Phil Longo. While most preseason rankings have the team outside of the top 25, the game developers at EA Sports seem to be somewhat high on what the Badgers can accomplish.

The EA Sports Love-Fest with Colorado Buffaloes is Laughable

Stop trying to make Buffs happen.

“Stop trying to make fetch happen!”

Except change “fetch” to “Colorado football” and the quote from the hit movie Mean Girls that featured Lindsay Lohan back in 2004 would be on to the upcoming new college football video game from EA Sports.

Colorado finished last year with a 4-8 overall record, going just 1-8 in the final year of the Pac 12.  Sure, they hit the transfer portal hard and could possibly go as far as to qualify for a bowl game this year, but EA Sports thinks they’re a top-20 team entering 2024.

EA Sports released their team ratings on Thursday, at least the top 25 offenses and defenses and guess what.

The Colorado Buffaloes, fresh off that 4-8 campaign, checked into the top-20 in both.

EA Sports ranked Colorado’s offense an 89, which tied them for the fifth-highest rating in the game.  In case you were curious, Colorado’s offense averaged the 99th most yards per play in 2023.

Defensively, Colorado gave up 30 or more points seven times in 12 games last year.  Despite that the Buffaloes were given an 84 overall rating, good for the 20th best in the game.

Seeing as EA Sports ranked Colorado to have both a top-20 offense and defense, one would think when the team rankings come out that they’ll be a top-20 team in the game.

With Coach Prime, Deion Sanders at the controls (figuratively) and stars like both-way standout [autotag]Travis Hunter[/autotag], it’s certain that many of the casual college football fans who play the game will pick Colorado.  It’s just too bad they’ll get a very wrong idea of the Buffaloes as a whole entering a season that they might just get crazy, finish .500, and make a bowl game.

For whatever its worth, Notre Dame checked in with the 17th best offense and sixth best defense.

WATCH: EA Sports College Football 25 has actors recreate Wisconsin winning Paul Bunyan’s Axe

EA Sports College Football 25 is focusing on the important parts of the sport:

EA Sports College Football 25 is certainly focusing on the sport’s important details.

Its latest teaser includes a deep dive into the sights and sounds of the soon-to-be-released video game, and how the game’s artists recreated college football’s most important traditions.

Among that long list of traditions is Wisconsin and Minnesota’s battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe, and the winning team “chopping down” the opposing goalposts.

The Badgers won this honor in 2023 with a 28-14 road win over the Gophers. As is custom, departing upperclassmen Tanner Mordecai, Braelon Allen and others took turns “chopping down” the goalposts at Huntington Bank Stadium.

EA Sports was sure to include that tradition in the video game. It even hired actors to mimic the actions, seen specifically in its latest video on X:

July 19 is the release date for the much-anticipated video game. I’d bet on EA Sports staying in the news until that date, especially with its recent ranking of the toughest places to play in college football.

Believe it or not, fanbases across the sport have opinions on where their stadium should rank. Those views are being expressed, as Ross Dellenger’s post sharing the rankings reached more than 100,000 views in its first 25 minutes of existence.

Calling EA Sports’ marketing job a success would be an understatement. College football fans from across the country are predictably enthusiastic about getting to play the first college football video game in more than a decade. The EA Sports team has done an effective job of building up that excitement.

Before we finally reach the release date of July 19, let’s take a look the video game’s ranking of the toughest places to play in college football. The rankings, according to Dellenger, ‘factor in historical home win percentage, home attendance’ and more.
