FC Cincinnati vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s FC Cincinnati vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (8 wins, 10 losses, 8 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (8-6-11) to TQL Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the FC Cincinnati vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati has fallen out of playoff position with this being a huge Eastern Conference battle. FCC has 8 games left. They sit tied for 8th, but 5th and 13th place in the East is separated by 6 points.

While it has been a drastic change from years past, FCC is earning points, just not at a quick enough pace. They have drawn 8 of their last 10 matches. FCC is led by F Brandon Vazquez, who has 15 goals on the season.

As for the Crew, they are in playoff position, barely. The Crew sit 7th, 1 point higher than FCC. Columbus is led by M Lucas Zelarayán with 8 goals and 5 assists.

Cucho, a 23-year-old Columbia forward from EPL’s Watford, has scored 8 goals in 8 games (6 starts). He’s averaging 1.23 goals per 90 minutes and is primed to play a good chunk of Saturday’s match.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 1, Columbus Crew 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW (+265).

You really cannot be smart and play anything but a draw when FCC is on the pitch.

They’ve played at both an ultra-high level, drawing the Red Bulls 1-1 in their last outing, and at a low level, drawing Atlanta United 2-2 at home the matchup prior. FCC has drawn 4 of their last 5 and 8 of their last 10.

Similarly, the Crew have been a draw-heavy side as well. They have drawn 7 of their last 12. Given the value, this is a strong play. Two of the last 3 times these teams have met in Cincinnati the result has been a draw as well.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+115).

FCC plays with pace, but considering this value, the Under 2.5 (+115) has good value. Both teams have gone under 2.5 combined goals in 3 of their last 6 games.

The last time these two teams met the result was a 2-0 Columbus win.

The Crew are allowing just 1.19 goals per game and haven’t had either side (Columbus or its opponent) have more than 2.0 expected goals in a match since July 13th battle with D.C. United.

Also, FCC just brought in a key defender in D Matt Miazga. He should help bring some stability to their backline. Considering the value and how both teams have played down the stretch, I’ll take the Under here.

D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

D.C. United (5 wins, 10 losses, 2 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (6-5-7) to Audi Field Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After a tough start to the season, losing 3 of their first 7 and going on a 4-match scoreless streak, the Crew are starting to figure it out and have not lost since May 21. They’ve won 2 of their last 3 and are 3-0-1 in their last 4 road matches.

Columbus is led in scoring by F Derrick Etienne with 5 goals while 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayan also helps balance the attack, having scored 3 on the season.

D.C. United is looking to rebound after a 7-0 road loss to Philadelphia. The Union were up 5-0 at the half. United is 3-5-1 at home this season. They have lost 4 of their last 5 and 2 of their last 3 home matches.

United just hired EPL legend Wayne Rooney as their manager, but that shouldn’t help their near-term woes. United is led in scoring by F Taxiarchis Fountas, who has 9 goals on the season.

D.C. United vs. Columbus Crew odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 11:38 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: D.C. United +145 (bet $100 to win $145) | Columbus Crew +180 (bet $180 to win $180) | Draw +250
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[tipico]

Prediction

Columbus Crew 1, D.C. United 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW +250.

Both teams have been equally bad in their current situation. United has lost 2 of its last 3 home matches, one to Nashville and the other to NYCFC. A 7-0 loss doesn’t instill confidence either.

However, United is 4-0-0 against teams other than Columbus that also sit 5th through 9th on the Eastern Conference table. The Crew did beat United 3-0 earlier in the season, but United had more expected goals in that match.

Also, United’s weakness has come defensively, and that will be shadowed by a horrible Crew attack, tied for the 3rd-fewest goals in the conference.

Add it all together, and these sides don’t have much splitting them given this situation. I’ll play a draw given that.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+100).

If it were up to Columbus, this would be a slow-paced game. It ranks in the bottom half of the league in total passes and total attacking assists.

Those are a few reasons why they have just 23 goals in 18 matches. Columbus has scored multiple goals in just 3 of their last 8 matches and has topped this total in just 3 of those as well.

D.C. United, which has allowed 10 goals in their last 2 matches, have scored multiple goals just once in their last 5 matches.

While their defense has struggled, their opponents’ expected goals have eclipsed 2 just 4 times. Considering they’ll be at home as well, I expect a better effort.

Combine it all, and I’ll take the Under 2.5 (+100).

Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (5 wins, 5 losses, 6 draws) welcome the Philadelphia Union (7-2-8) to Lower.com Field Sunday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew will return home after an unbeaten 2-game road trip. They drew Salt Lake City 0-0 and then beat Toronto FC 2-1. They haven’t lost in 4 straight matches.

Columbus has been led this season by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán. While he leads the club with 4 goals, Columbus has 3 other players who have scored 3 times this season. The Crew have scored 20 goals and allowed 18 in 16 matches.

Philadelphia has 1 of the best defenses in the MLS. Captained by GK Andre Blake, they’ve allowed a league-low 13 goals in 17 matches this season. F Dániel Gazdag has scored a team-high 7 goals.

The Union’s 2 losses have been on the road. Philadelphia has had fewer expected goals than its opponent in 4 of 8 road matches this season.

Columbus Crew vs. Philadelphia Union odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:41 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Columbus Crew +130 (bet $100 to win $130) | Philadelphia Union +225 (bet $100 to win $225) | Draw +225
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +110 | U: -135)

[tipico]

Prediction

Philadelphia Union 2, Columbus Crew 0

Money line (ML)

LEAN PHILADELPHIA (+225).

The Crew have been hit or miss at home. They’ve played 7 home games, losing 3 of them, and against the team sitting tied for first in the Eastern Conference, they’ll be up for a tough challenge.

The Union rank second in interceptions and first in save rate. They’re a side that’s well-coached defensively. Considering Columbus isn’t a strong attacking side, it will likely struggle to break the Union down.

Columbus sits tied for the 9th-most goals in the East. It could easily be shut out against a dominant Philadelphia defense. Similarly, Philadelphia has scored in all but 1 road game.

The Crew are 0-3-0 at home against opponents in playoff position.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-135).

As mentioned, the Union are a top defense but have barely averaged over a goal per game offensively. They’ve gone under this total in 6 of their last 7 games.

Columbus has gone under this total in 9 of its last 13 matches.

Both teams rank in the bottom half of the league in total attacking assists. With 2 clubs both with above-average defenses and below-average attacks, expect a low-scoring match.

Atlanta United vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Atlanta United vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Atlanta United (4 wins, 4 losses, 4 draws) welcome the Columbus Crew (3-5-4) to Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Atlanta United vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Both Atlanta and Columbus have disappointed so far this season with United sitting 8th in the East and the Crew 12th. Three points separate the 2 sides. As for United, they’ve drawn 2 straight games, both 2-2.

One was at home against New England, and the other, more recently, was a loss on the road against Nashville. Atlanta is led by F Ronaldo Cisneros, who has 4 goals on the season. It’s allowed 18 goals in 12 games.

As for the Crew, they’ve lost two straight and have failed to score in 6 of their last 8 games.

Columbus has scored 15 and allowed 15 through its 12 games this season. It is led in scoring by 2021 M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 4 goals on the season. The Crew are a pitiful 0-4-2 on the road this season.

Atlanta United vs. Columbus Crew odds, lines, picks and predictions

  • Money line: Atlanta United +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Columbus Crew +280 (bet $100 to win $280) | Draw +250
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

[tipico]

Prediction

Atlanta United 2, Columbus Crew 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN ATLANTA UNITED +100.

The Crew just haven’t played up to par on the road, and their struggles over the last 8 games are real.

The Crew were unbeaten through the first 4 games of the season and have lost 5 of their last 8. Columbus must figure things out, and at a rowdy Mercedes-Benz Stadium won’t be where that happens.

There’s a chance star F Josef Martinez makes his return from injury as well. Martinez won the league’s Golden Boot in 2018. Even without Martinez, United has been playing better as of late. They’ve also not lost at home.

Combine United’s 3-0-3 home record with how bad Columbus has been away from Lower.com Field along with the potential return of Martinez, and I’ll take Atlanta at this value.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-115).

The United defense has been terrible the last few games, which is why the OVER 2.5 (-115) is my favorite bet of the game. United has allowed 18 goals in 12 games and would have combined to top this total in their last 5 games.

The Crew would’ve hit this total in 2 of their last 4, having allowed 2 goals to their opponent in 3 straight games.

Columbus has one of the most experienced midfielders in the MLS. Zelarayan should be able to help the Crew break down a susceptible Atlanta defense.

Columbus ranks 9th in scoring attempts while Atlanta sits 4th in on-target scoring attempts. The 2 attacks combined should be able to net at least 3 goals.

New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The New England Revolution (3 wins, 5 losses, 1 draw) host the Columbus Crew (3-3-3) Saturday. Kickoff from Gillette Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After an atrocious 1-4-1 start to the season, the Revolution have played much better lately, 2-1-0 in their last 3. New England is led by M Carles Gil and F Adam Buksa, both with 3 goals scored.

The Revolution have scored 14 goals in their 9 games and allowed 16. Their 14 goals scored ranks 5th in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit 10th on the East table.

The Crew snapped a 4-game scoreless streak with a 3-0 home win over D.C. United. The Crew are 1-3-1 in their last 5 games and have drawn 3 of their 4 road games.

Columbus is led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 4 goals in 7 starts. The Crew have scored 13 goals and given up just 9, the fourth-fewest goals allowed in the East. They currently sit in 7th place.

New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 3:48 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: New England -106 (bet $100 to win $106) | Columbus +285 (bet $100 to win $285) | Draw +265
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -117 | U: -103)

[tipico]

Prediction

New England 1, Columbus 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to the DRAW +265.

The Crew haven’t necessarily been their typical top-tier club this season, but they have managed to hang with opponents. They’re tied for the second-most draws in the East and have drawn 3 of 4 road games.

The Revolution lost F Tajon Buchanan who was key in producing goal-scoring opportunities last season. F Gustavo Bou also hasn’t played up to last season’s level yet.

The regression set to happen for New England was obvious. This should be a high-competitive battle, one that could end in a draw. It’s risky, but at this value, it’s worth a small unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-103).

The Crew scored 3 goals last game against Minnesota United, but had just 1.3 expected goals.

They had gone under 2.5 goals in the previous 5 games and were held without a goal in 4 of them. Columbus may have run it up on United, the club last on the East table, but its core offensive issues are still there.

As for the Revolution, they’ll be taking on a defense that’s allowing just a goal per game. Its lone battle with an East team that’s allowed single-digit goals resulted in a 1-0 home loss to the New York Red Bulls.

Given the Crew’s dominant defense, having allowed just 2 multi-goal games, it wouldn’t be shocking to see New England struggle to get shots on target.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

Sporting Kansas City (2 wins, 6 losses, 0 draws) hosts the Columbus Crew (2-3-2) at Children’s Mercy Park Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew made a season-changing trade with the Colorado Rapids Friday, sending F Gyasi Zardes, who had 1 goal on the season. After a 2-0-2 start, the Crew have lost 3 straight games.

Its offense has taken a significant hit recently, getting shut out in its last 3 games. All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán leads the Crew in scoring with 4 goals. The Crew sit 9th in the East and are 0-1-2 on the road.

Sporting KC has played far worse than a season ago. It has also lost 3 straight and 5 of its last 6. M Rémi Walter leads the team with 2 goals.

Sporting sits 12th in the West and has scored just 6 goals in 8 games. However, it has won 2 of its 3 home games.

Sporting Kansas City vs. Columbus Crew odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:12 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sporting KC +160 (bet $100 to win $160) | Columbus +180 (bet $100 to win $180) | Draw +225
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +102 | U: -125)

[tipico]

Prediction

Sporting KC 1, Columbus 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to the DRAW (+225).

Both teams are coming in on 3-game losing streaks and have not played anything like they did a season ago. With that in mind, the Crew have scored 10 goals in 7 games while Sporting has allowed 14. That’s concerning.

Sporting does rank in the top half of the league in interceptions. It has had just 29 shots against it as well, so it’s not quite as bad as the 14 goals in 6 games sound.

Sporting is also 2-1-0 at home, while the Crew have drawn 2 of its 3 road games. At the +225 value the Draw has, it’s the best way to play the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-125).

As noted, Sporting KC’s save rate is awful, and given how well its defense has played at limiting shots, it should be able to force Columbus into a low-scoring game.

That’ll be what it wants as Sporting has scored just 6 goals and ranks in the bottom 10 clubs in shots on goal. Columbus ranks first, yet hasn’t scored in 3 games.

After 7 goals in its first 2 games, the Crew have scored just 3 in its last 5. The dynamic offense has taken a hit, and without Zardes, it may struggle again Saturday night.

With that in mind, I’ll take the UNDER 2.5 (-125) with ease.

Columbus Crew vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In an MLS opener, the Columbus Crew welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to Lower.com Field Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we preview the Columbus vs. Vancouver odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After having 2 club friendlies canceled – against Louisville City and Inter – the Crew will finally take the pitch to commence their regular season.

Columbus finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last season with a 13-13-8 (W-L-draw) record. The Crew were 10-4-3 at home. 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán is still with Columbus and should be a major factor.

The Whitecaps were just 12-9-13 last season, finishing sixth in the Western Conference. They didn’t make much noise in the playoffs, losing to Sporting KC 3-1 in the first round.

They will be returning their leading scorers in F Brian White, who had 12 goals a season ago, and F Cristian Dájome, who finished with 10 goals.

Prediction

Columbus 2, Vancouver 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLUMBUS (-140).

The Crew were almost unstoppable at home last season with most of their struggles coming on the road. Similarly, the Whitecaps won just two games in 17 away matches last year.

For the Crew, Zelarayán is one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, and he should continue his dominant MLS career Saturday. They’ll also have F Gyasi Zardes, who played some with the USMNT in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying this past winter.

While the Crew didn’t put it together a year ago, they have the talent to get back to the MLS Cup-contending level they’ve been the last few seasons.

I’d bet on the CREW (-140) making a good first impression Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the OVER 2.5 (-110).

The Crew averaged 1.35 goals per game and allowed 1.32 goals per game last season, while the Whitecaps averaged 1.32 goals and yielded 1.32 goals. With both teams topping 2.6 combined goals per game, betting Over 2.5 is a good value.

As mentioned, Vancouver returns its two-leading, goal-scoring threats, making the ‘Caps just as lethal as a year ago. Expect them to get on the board in this one.

Prediction

Seattle Sounders 2, Columbus Crew SC 0

Money line (ML)

SEATTLE SOUNDERS (+155) is the play in the MLS Cup, as the host Columbus Crew SC (+175) will be without two key players – Nagbe and Santos.

It’s a battle of the titans, and the Crew might have still been able to pull this off if they had a raucous crowd on their side. But the crowd will be muted, and so will be their performance.

Seattle has won three in a row, and is coming off a rousing 3-2 comeback victory over the Minnesota United in the Western Conference Final. The Sounders will ride the wave of that emotion to another title, their third in the past five years.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-105) is the lean here. We only have one head-to-head matchup to go off of this calendar year as these sides played to a 1-1 draw back in Seattle March 8, before a lively crowd at Century Link Field pre-COVID. Three of the past five matchups in this series have seen a total of two or fewer goals.

Prediction

Columbus Crew SC 2, New England Revolution 1

Money line (ML)

COLUMBUS CREW SC (+160) is a solid value in regular time for the match result. In their past three home matches against the New England Revolution (+170) they have two wins and a draw. While the Revs have won their past three matches, the Crew have won three in a row against New England. Losses by Orlando City SC, the Philadelphia Union and FC Toronto have opened the door for the Crew in the East.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-118) is the play for the total. While the Crew have kept a clean sheet, or posted a shutout, in six of the past eight against the Revs across all competitions, New England has scored at least two goals in each of their past three. They’ll find the back of the net at least once but will come up short. We’ll at least get a total of three goals on the board.

For a nice added bonus, play the CREW TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (+310) to help build your bankroll.

Prediction

Columbus Crew SC 2, New York Red Bulls 1

Money line (ML)

COLUMBUS CREW SC (-106) hasn’t won consecutive matches since picking up back-to-back wins against Nashville SC and Minnesota United Sept. 20-24, both at home. They Crew won the regular-season finale against Atlanta United 2-1, so now is just as good a time as any to snap that consecutive victories drought.

The New York Red Bulls (+260) wrapped up the regular season with just one loss in the final seven, posting three wins and three draws. Their most recent match against Columbus resulted in a 2-0 setback on July 17. In addition, New York has picked up wins in just three of its past 11 road matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-139) is the way to go in this one. In New York’s past six road matches, it has seen a total of 23 goals, nearly four total goals per match. Columbus has seen a total of at least three goals in each of the final three games in the regular season, good for an average of 3.0 goals per match.

This won’t be a track meet with end-to-end action all night, but at least three goals is a great bet.
