Myrtle Beach Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (6-6) and UTSA Roadrunners (6-6) meet Monday in the Myrtle Beach Bowl at Brooks Stadium in Conway, S.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Chanticleers used both QBs Ethan Vasko and Noah Kim this season, but both players are in the transfer portal, and unlikely to play. Coach Tim Beck said that redshirt freshman QB Tad Hudson is the probable starter, with fellow freshman QB Alex Walker also available.

In addition, CCU will be without top defensive players LB Clev Lubin, who is off to the Auburn Tigers via the portal, while CB Matthew McDoom has already signed with the Cincinnati Bearcats. In addition, offensive line starters T Zovon Lindsay and G Anthony Walton have been dealing with injuries, and appear unlikely to go.

UTSA has a handful of players in the portal, too, but coach Jeff Traylor told the media he expects most players on the roster to be available, with some portal players traveling with the team.

The best defensive player for the Roadrunners, LB Jimmori Robinson, was nicked in the season finale against Army. The AAC Player of the Year has elected to opt out of Monday’s bowl game to get ready for the 2025 NFL Draft.

UTSA is 1-4 in 5 previous bowl games, while Coastal Carolina has managed a 2-2 all-time record in postseason games.

Coastal Carolina vs. UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 33, Coastal Carolina 16

Moneyline

UTSA (-450) will cost you 4 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s quite a bit of risk for a team which was 0-6 SU this season on the road.

While the Roadrunners catch a break against a depleted and banged-up Chanticleers team, that fact remains UTSA hasn’t won off campus since a 35-17 win in the Frisco Bowl last season against Marshall for its first-ever bowl win.

PASS, as a standalone wager.

Against the spread

BACK UTSA -11.5 (-110) lightly laying the points in Myrtle Beach.

The Roadrunners haven’t won on the road, but Coastal Carolina +10.5 (-110) will be starting a redshirt freshman under center with no prior playing history. There are going to be some ugly moments for the Chants offense.

The Roadrunners are without Robinson on defense, so that’s going to help the young pass throwers for CCU, but expect UTSA to be a lot better on offense.

Over/Under

UNDER 55.5 (-105) might be the best play on the board.

It’s hard to imagine the Chanticleers moving the ball up and down the field with a redshirt freshman QB who has never played at the collegiate level. CCU figures to lean on RB Braydon Bennett, the experienced rusher. Running the ball runs the clock, which Under bettors love.

The Under finished 3-1 in the final 4 games for CCU with a full squad, while the Under hit for UTSA in the season finale at Army. That halted a 6-0 Over run, though, so don’t get carried away. With this Roadrunners offense is rolling, it can score plenty.

UTSA at Arkansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UTSA at Arkansas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The UTSA Roadrunners (3-4) and Arkansas Razorbacks (6-2) meet Saturday. Tip-off from Bud Walton Arena is set for 2 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the UTSA vs. Arkansas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

UTSA was handed an 82-74 OT loss Tuesday by the St. Mary’s Gaels while covering as a 23-point underdog. The Roadrunners held St. Mary’s to just 14.3% shooting from 3-point range in the loss, but their downfall was allowing a whopping 31 points at the free-throw line to the Gaels.

Arkansas escaped with a 76-73 win over the Miami Hurricanes Tuesday as a 4.5-point favorite. The Razorbacks shot a very efficient 47.8% from deep en route to outscoring Miami 44-33 in the second half of Tuesday’s contest to complete the comeback win. Arkansas has allowed fewer than 75 points in all of its 6 wins this year.

  • Against the spread (ATS): UTSA +20.5 (-115) | Arkansas -20.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 155.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

UTSA at Arkansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Arkansas 92, UTSA 70

Moneyline

PASS.

Arkansas will pick up the win and cover here as a -5000 favorite, but the Razorbacks are not worth the risk of backing here as betting on a favorite this heavy is never wise. Pass here, and bet on the spread and/or O/U instead.

Against the spread

LEAN ARKANSAS -20.5 (-105).

Arkansas is the much better team on both sides of the ball, and its defense that holds opponents to 64.8 ppg will be crucial to the blowout win here.

UTSA is also 0-3 on the road so far this season and is terrible defensively, allowing 79 points per game, so Arkansas should be able to blowout the Roadrunners here.

This is a lean because Arkansas is only 2-5-1 ATS this season.

Over/Under

BET OVER 155.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in all of UTSA’s last 4 games and is 6-1 for the Roadrunners this season. The Over is also 3-2 in Arkansas’ last 5 games.

Arkansas scores 80 points per game, nothing special for the SEC or for a team that was ranked not long ago, but combined with UTSA’s 77 points per game average and UTSA’s bad defense that will allow the Razorbacks to score at will, and you see that the Over is a safe bet.

Alex’s best bet: UTSA at Army prediction

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White likes a side in Saturday’s college football game between UTSA and Army.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White heads into the final full weekend of the college football regular-season with a 9-3 record for her best bets.

After looking at Saturday’s slate, Alex sees an opportunity to cash winning tickets on an American Athletic Conference matchup in West Point when the UTSA Roadrunners (6-5, 4-3 AAC) visit the first-place Army Black Knights (9-1, 7-0). Kickoff from Michie Stadium is set for noon ET and will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

As of Friday at 10:53 p.m. ET, BetMGM Sportsbook lists Army as a 6.5-point favorite — the Black Knights were -7 earlier in the day.

UTSA enters on a 3-game win streak, covering the spread in each victory. The Roadrunners are 4-1 straight up and 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 5 games. For the season, they’re 5-6 ATS.

Army, which already clinched a spot in the AAC Championship Game, suffered its first loss of the season a week ago — 49-14 at No. 5 Notre Dame. The Black Knights are 7-3 ATS this season. (Rankings: US LBM Coaches Poll)

Army won last season’s meeting 37-29 in San Antonio as a 7-point underdog.

UTSA at Army picks and predictions

Prediction

Army 31, UTSA 28

Moneyline

PASS.

There is minimal value on Army (-250) to win Saturday.

Against the spread

LEAN UTSA +6.5 (-110).

UTSA has covered the spread in 4 of its last 5 games, scoring 38 or more points in each outing. It faces an Army squad that has failed to cover 3 of its last 4 games while scoring 20 or fewer points in 3 straight. In a game featuring 2 teams that can score in droves, expect the Roadrunners to stick around.

Over/Under

BET OVER 54.5 (-110).

UTSA has scored 44 or more points in 3 straight games and 27 or more in 7 of its last 8. It has hit the Over in 8 of its last 10 games.

Memphis at UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis at UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The UTSA Roadrunners (3-5, 1-3 AAC) welcome the No. 25 Memphis Tigers (7-1, 3-1) to the Alamodome Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Memphis vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Memphis beat the Charlotte 49ers last Saturday 33-28, closing as a 17-point favorite. Memphis has rattled off 4 straight wins and has closed as a double-digit favorite in each, but covered just once. The Tigers are 4-4 against the spread (ATS) after starting the season 3-0 straight up and ATS. They are led by RB Mario Anderson, who has 780 rushing yards on the season.

The Roadrunners have struggled for much of the season. They won their opening game, but are just 2-5 since. UTSA is both 0-3 SU and ATS as an underdog. It is coming off a 46-45 shootout loss against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Saturday, closing as a 9.5-point favorite. The Roadrunners are 1-3 SU and ATS in their last 4 games. They are led by QB Owen McCown, who has 16 TD passes in 8 games.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Memphis -7.5 (-105) | UTSA +7.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 61.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Memphis at UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

Memphis 42, UTSA 31

Moneyline

PASS.

The Tigers should come out on top against a struggling UTSA side; however, at -275, they aren’t worthy of any size play on the moneyline. Similarly, UTSA isn’t worth a play to pull off the upset.

Against the spread

BET MEMPHIS -7.5 (-105).

UTSA has been blown out when it is an underdog this season. As an underdog, it lost by 10 points to ECU in Week 5, by 49 to No. 6 Texas, and by 39 to Texas State, failing to cover in each of those. The Roadrunners defense has been laughable the last few weeks as well, allowing 35 points per game over the last 2 weeks.

Memphis is 2-1 ATS on the road and 2-1 ATS as either an underdog or a favorite of 10 points and under. The Tigers have scored 85 points over its last 2 weeks, so it has the offense that can pull away with ease. With those trends in mind, back MEMPHIS -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 61.5 (-105).

Memphis has gone Over in 2 straight games, scoring 33 points or more in both and allowing at least 28 points in both. The Tigers are 3-2 O/U in their last 5 games. They have scored 38 or more points in 4 of 8 games.

The Roadrunners take those issues to the next level, having a dynamic offense and a static defense. They have scored 27 points or more in 4 of their last 5 games yet have allowed at least 29 points in 3 of their last 4. They are 3-0 O/U in their last 3 and 5-2 O/U in their last 7.

That said, take OVER 61.5 (-105).

UTSA at Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UTSA at Texas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The UTSA Roadrunners (1-1) visit the Texas Longhorns (2-0) Saturday. Kickoff from DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the UTSA vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

UTSA was smacked 49-10 by the Texas State Bobcats Saturday while failing to cover as a 2.5-point underdog. The Roadrunners’ offense struggled as QB Eddie Lee Marburger threw for only 147 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT on 14-of-27 passing and RB Robert Henry picked up only 26 yards on 9 carries.

Texas is coming off a 31-12 blowout victory over the Michigan Wolverines Saturday while covering as a 6.5-point favorite. The Longhorns outgained the Wolverines 389-284 and forced 3 turnovers while committing none.

Texas is No. 3 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports

UTSA at Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 51, UTSA 3

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no line available for a reason — it would be unplayable. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET TEXAS -35.5 (-115).

Texas beat a very solid Colorado State team 52-0 in Week 1 and then dispatched the defending champion Wolverines, so the Longhorns should have no problem covering as -35.5 favorites in this matchup. UTSA also was just blown out by 39 by a much inferior team than this Texas squad, so look for that to continue here. Texas should not have much difficulty in this game.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 55.5 (-110).

Texas will blow out the Roadrunners, but I am not sure that I trust the Longhorns to score enough to carry this game to hit the Over. They have not hit an Over number this high yet. The Texas defense will also enjoy plenty of success vs. UTSA, so you can’t count on the Roadrunners to be able to push this game to hit the Over.

UTSA at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UTSA at Tennessee odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 20 Tennessee Volunteers (2-1) welcome the UTSA Roadrunners (1-2) to Neyland Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UTSA vs. Tenneessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Tennessee lost 29-16 at Florida last Saturday, losing outright as a 4.5-point favorite. The Vols are led by QB Joe Milton III, who has 716 passing yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception through 3 games. Tennessee is No. 20 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports and is 1-2 against the spread (ATS) and 1-2 Over/Under this season. The Volunteers’ lone cover was a 49-13 blowout over Virginia as 27.5-point favorites on Sept. 2.

UTSA is 0-3 ATS on the season and 1-2 O/U, losing 37-29 to Army last Friday as a 7-point home favorite. The Roadrunners are just 1-2 overall despite being favorites in all 3 games this season. Starting QB Frank Harris is a game-time decision against Tennessee after missing last week with a toe injury. He leads the team with 423 passing yards with 2 touchdowns against 3 interceptions through 2 games.

UTSA at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 41, UTSA 17

Moneyline

PASS.

Keep it rollin’. There’s no value on the moneyline either way.

Against the spread

LEAN TENNESSEE -21.5 (-110).

UTSA sits 102nd of 133 FBS programs in the nation in opponents passing yards per completion according to TeamRankings.com. It hasn’t performed well in the aerial defense game, and Milton III should be able to eat them alive. He is averaging over 225 yards per game.

Couple that with the Vols’ defense, which has allowed fewer than 15 points in 2 of 3 games, and Tennessee should be able to drive the ball well and halt the UTSA offense — particularly if Harris isn’t able to play or isn’t at 100%.

UTSA hasn’t hit its preseason expectations, and it may continue to struggle against an SEC powerhouse on the road. Take TENNESSEE -21.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 59.5 (-110).

Both teams are 1-2 O/U this season, and Tennessee’s lone Over was when it blasted Virginia for 49 points. It has scored 30 or fewer in both of its other games.

UTSA has yet to score 30 points in any game and has allowed fewer than 20 in 2 of 3 games as well. It may be able to get a few stops and keep Tennessee under 40. The Roadrunners have allowed just 22.3 points per game.

They may get blown out, but as their season-long numbers will suggest, it may be their offense that struggles the most. Take UNDER 59.5 (-110).

Army at UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Army at UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Army Black Knights (1-1) and the UTSA Roadrunners (1-1) meet Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Army vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Black Knights were tripped up 17-13 in the season opener at UL Monroe, losing outright as an 8.5-point favorite as the Under (46.5) cashed. Army bounced back by drubbing Delaware State of the FCS 57-0, cashing as a 38.5-point favorite as the Over (44.5) connected. However, the loss at ULM carries a lot more weight than a win over a poor FCS team.

The Roadrunners played Houston tough in the opener Sept. 2, falling 17-14 as a 2-point favorite as the Under (59) cashed. UTSA came home and topped Texas State, who was brimming with confidence after a win at Baylor in Week 1. The Roadrunners won 20-13 over the Bobcats, although TSU covered the 14-point number as the Under (65.5) cashed a 2nd straight game.

Army at UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 23, Army 16

Moneyline

UTSA (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return. That’s just too much for a singular bet, or as part of a multi-team parlay. While the Roadrunners have played better football, that’s still too much risk for not enough reward.

PASS.

Against the spread

ARMY +8.5 (-110) has a strong rushing attack, and that will keep it in the game. But the Black Knights have started to come into the 21st century a little, passing the ball a bit more. It is averaging 172.5 passing yards per game, which isn’t a lot, but it isn’t your dad’s Army football, either.

UTSA -8.5 (-110) has done a good job shutting down the run early on, so Army will have to continue to go to the air to stay in this game. The good news is that both sides play pretty good defense, and it’s unlikely UTSA wins by more than single digits.

Over/Under

UNDER 44.5 (-110) is a rather low number in this day and age of college football, but defense will win the day in the Alamodome on Friday.

In Army’s only game against an FBS foe so far, it mustered just 13 points against a mediocre ULM team. Meanwhile, UTSA has yielded just 15.0 PPG, while averaging 17.0 PPG on offense.

When these teams met last Sept. 10 in Michie Stadium in West Point, UTSA won a 41-38 game in OT. We won’t come anywhere close to seeing that kind of offense in this one.

FAU at UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s FAU at UTSA odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The FAU Owls (17-1, 7-0 Conference USA) and UTSA Roadrunners (7-12, 1-7) meet Thursday at UTSA Convocation Center in San Antonio. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the FAU vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Owls aren’t ranked in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, but they did crack The AP Top 25 for the first time in school history this week. FAU kicked off the week with a 76-62 win at Western Kentucky Monday to cover as 4.5-point favorites, moving to 12-2-1 against the spread (ATS) across the past lined 15 games.

The Roadrunners have dropped 4 games in a row, going 0-3-1 ATS during the skid. The push came as a 7-point underdog last time out at home on Monday in an 88-81 loss in overtime against Rice. The Over also snapped a 3-0 Under run for the Roadrunners.

FAU at UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

FAU 81, UTSA 63

Moneyline

This line was off the board at the time of publishing, but even if there was a line, it would be too high and wouldn’t be worth pursuing anyway.

PASS.

Against the spread

FAU -15.5 (-115) is the lean on the road, although this is quite a large number for the Owls. FAU is still getting used to going from also-ran to contender, and feeling things out. The Owls are a solid 12-2-1 ATS in the past 15 games overall.

UTSA is just 1-5-2 ATS across its last 8 games and it is 1-4-1 ATS in the past 6 outings as a double-digit underdog.

Over/Under

UNDER 144.5 (-115) is the lean, but play it lightly.

While the Over is 4-1 in the past 5 games overall for FAU, the Under is 4-1 in its last 5 outings after a cover. The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 home games against teams with a winning road mark for UTSA.

Cure Bowl: Troy vs. UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Troy vs. UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 22 UTSA Roadrunners (11-2) battle the No. 24 Troy Trojans (11-2) in the Cure Bowl on Friday. Kickoff from Exploria Stadium in Orlando is set for 3 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UTSA vs. Troy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Trojans crushed Coastal Carolina 45-26 in their final game of the season, taking a 31-7 lead into the half and easily covering as 6.5-point favorites. Troy finished No. 1 in the Sun Belt and ended the season 10-3 against the spread (ATS), covering its last 3 in a row. Troy’s strength is its defense, ranking top 40 in opponents’ total yards (324.9), passing yards (207.4), and rushing yards (117.5).

UTSA dismantled North Texas 48-27, covering as 8-point home favorites, and ended its season atop Conference USA. It was just 7-6 ATS though. UTSA was 5-1 straight up on the road. Its strength is in its attack, ranking top 15 in total yards (486.2) and passing yards (308.6).

Troy vs. UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 34, Troy 28

Moneyline

BET UTSA (+100).

Troy’s defense is what sets them apart, but starting QB Gunner Watson has been far too turnover prone to back the Trojans. He has 13 TDs and 10 INTs  thise season.

Also, the weaker part of the Trojans’ defense is their pass game, and that’s where UTSA will look to exploit. QB Frank Harris has 31 TDs and 7 INTs. He has been intercepted just once in his last 5 games.

Couple that with UTSA being 5-1 on the road to Troy’s 4-2 road mark and I would back the team less likely to turn the ball over here.

Against the spread

PASS.

I’d back UTSA outright here. Only 1 game between both teams, a 10-9 win for Troy over Army, finished within a single point. Take the favorite on the moneyline.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 56 (-109).

UTSA is 8-5 O/U this season. Its offense has scored at least 30 points in every game this season aside from a 41-20 loss to Texas on Sept. 17. It has scored 40 or more in 4 of its last 5. The total is 3-2 O/U in its last 5 games as well.

The Troy offense is clicking as well. Despite being just 6-7 O/U this season, it has gone Over in its last 3 in a row. Troy has scored 46.5 points per game over its last 2 games and has scored 30 or more in 3 in a row.

Both offenses are clicking, and in a bowl game in warm weather, back the OVER 56 (-109).
