Army at LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Army at LSU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Army Black Knights (2-4) visit the LSU Tigers (5-2) Saturday. Kickoff from Tiger Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Army vs. LSU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Army lost 19-0 to the Troy Trojans last Saturday en route to a 3-game losing skid, failing to cover as a 6.5-point home underdog. QB Bryson Daily has completed 42 of his 77 passes for 712 yards, 6 TDs, and 4 INTs while also leading the team in rushing. Daily has totaled 412 rushing yards and 3 TDs on 100 carries. The Black Knights struggle to generate offense through the passing game, generating 143.5 yards per game, while the run game generates 196 YPG.

LSU has won back-to-back games vs. SEC opponents. The most recent of which came Saturday in a 48-18 home win vs. the Auburn Tigers, covering as an 11.5-point favorite. QB Jayden Daniels has completed 152 of his 208 passes for 2294 yards, 22 TDs, and 3 INTs. The Tigers have a very explosive offense that averages 550.4 yards per game, but their defense that allows 423.9 yards per game is vulnerable.

LSU is No. 19 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Army at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 31, Army 14

Moneyline

PASS.

LSU will pick up the win here, but a -8000 favorite is never worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET ARMY +31.5 (-104).

The Tigers have not beaten an opponent by 30 or more points since their 72-10 Week 2 victory vs. the Grambling Tigers. Similarly, Army has not lost a game by more than 19 points this season. Army does face its toughest test vs. this LSU squad, but LSU’s weakness defensively will help Army keep this one within 31.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 58.5 (-105).

Both LSU and Army struggle defensively, but I don’t expect Army’s offense to generate enough points to help this game hit the Over number of 57.5. LSU’s main defensive weakness lies in the passing game, but Army does not have a good enough passing attack to exploit that weakness. I do expect Daily to have a solid outing, especially on the ground, but I don’t see Army putting up more than 17.

Army at UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Army at UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Army Black Knights (1-1) and the UTSA Roadrunners (1-1) meet Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Army vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Black Knights were tripped up 17-13 in the season opener at UL Monroe, losing outright as an 8.5-point favorite as the Under (46.5) cashed. Army bounced back by drubbing Delaware State of the FCS 57-0, cashing as a 38.5-point favorite as the Over (44.5) connected. However, the loss at ULM carries a lot more weight than a win over a poor FCS team.

The Roadrunners played Houston tough in the opener Sept. 2, falling 17-14 as a 2-point favorite as the Under (59) cashed. UTSA came home and topped Texas State, who was brimming with confidence after a win at Baylor in Week 1. The Roadrunners won 20-13 over the Bobcats, although TSU covered the 14-point number as the Under (65.5) cashed a 2nd straight game.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Army +8.5 (-110) | UTSA -8.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 44.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Army at UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 23, Army 16

Moneyline

UTSA (-350) will cost you 3 1/2 times your potential return. That’s just too much for a singular bet, or as part of a multi-team parlay. While the Roadrunners have played better football, that’s still too much risk for not enough reward.

PASS.

Against the spread

ARMY +8.5 (-110) has a strong rushing attack, and that will keep it in the game. But the Black Knights have started to come into the 21st century a little, passing the ball a bit more. It is averaging 172.5 passing yards per game, which isn’t a lot, but it isn’t your dad’s Army football, either.

UTSA -8.5 (-110) has done a good job shutting down the run early on, so Army will have to continue to go to the air to stay in this game. The good news is that both sides play pretty good defense, and it’s unlikely UTSA wins by more than single digits.

Over/Under

UNDER 44.5 (-110) is a rather low number in this day and age of college football, but defense will win the day in the Alamodome on Friday.

In Army’s only game against an FBS foe so far, it mustered just 13 points against a mediocre ULM team. Meanwhile, UTSA has yielded just 15.0 PPG, while averaging 17.0 PPG on offense.

When these teams met last Sept. 10 in Michie Stadium in West Point, UTSA won a 41-38 game in OT. We won’t come anywhere close to seeing that kind of offense in this one.

Colgate at Army odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Colgate at Army odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colgate Raiders (9-7, 3-0 Patriot League) and Army Black Knights (9-7, 3-0) battle Monday in a key conference game in West Point. Opening tip at Christl Arena is at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Colgate vs. Army odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Colgate has won 3 straight games straight up and against the spread (ATS), averaging 88.0 points per game in the process. The senior-laden Raiders lead the Patriot League in scoring at 80.9 PPG. Their effective field-goal (eFG) mark of 59.6% ranks 1st in NCAA-I.

Army ranks 20th in that eFG category, and it enters this home game on a 4-game win streak (3-1 ATS). During their win streak, the Black Knights have shot a robust 47.6% from beyond the 3-point arc. The 5-1 at-home Knights are playing just their 2nd game in West Point since Dec. 7.

Colgate at Army picks and predictions

Prediction

Colgate 78, Army 70

Moneyline

PASS. Look to the play against the number for a bit more value on the lean, Colgate.

Against the spread

The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. Their overall road record is 5-3. The Black Knights are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games against foes with winning road records. In this series, Colgate has won 4 in a row ATS and is 6-1 ATS over the last 7 meetings.

Colgate has several losses by small margins against much higher-quality foes (Vermont, Penn, Duquesne and Buffalo.  The Raiders take better care of the basketball, and they figure to prevail in this game by 2 or 3 possessions. Shading that margin even higher seems more likely than a 1-possession game. The figure here is open for a back-door cover, but the risk/reward here is worth a play on COLGATE -7.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Both teams have played weak schedules. There isn’t much chance of scoring bloat due to transition play, offensive rebounding or an abundance of free throws. This game comes down to shooting, and both sides seem ripe for some double-sided regression, heling the defenses and hurting the offenses.

Both the Raiders and Black Knights have logged slower pace numbers over recent games.

BACK THE UNDER 151.5 (-105).

Army vs. Navy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Army vs. Navy odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Navy Midshipmen (4-7) take on the Army Black Knights (5-6) Saturday in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Army vs. Navy odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The final game of the college football regular season has arrived and the Army-Navy game is always special. Everyone loves this fast-moving, run the ball every down game between 2 great institutions. Always a hard game to call, the best part comes at the end when the opposing teams sing the school songs facing each other’s cadets.

Air Force has already locked up the Commander-in-Chief trophy after beating both teams. But there is only one Army-Navy game. It is not about hatred like Ohio State vs. Michigan. It is simply about pride, honor, respect, and competition. After this game is over, many of these men will be deployed overseas together. But for one day, they are combatants facing off against each other on the playing field. This is not life, it is sports. But what a special sports event it is.

Army vs. Navy picks and predictions

Prediction

Army 16, Navy 13

Moneyline

BET ARMY +120.

Army started off strong before slipping in the middle of the season. After a 10-9 loss to Troy, the Black Knights trounced Connecticut 34-17 and UMass 44-7 to enter this game 5-6 and hoping to get to .500 for the season.

After a terrible start including a 14-7 loss to Delaware, the Midshipmen have tried to fight until the end. A close 35-32 loss to Notre Dame was followed by a 17-14 win against UCF. A team which landed in the American Athletic Conference Championship game against Tulane.

This game will be a struggle for both teams, but Army is the better side, and they should win this game. As +120 underdogs, I will take the Black Knights moneyline over the spread.

Against the spread

PASS.

With my feeling that Army will win this game, I will not make a wager on the spread. Instead, I will save .30 and take the moneyline for the Black Knights.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 32 (-110).

Service academy games consistently go Under the posted total. According to  CBS Sports, since 2005 the service academy games have a record of 43-9-1 to the Under the posted total. While this is not a certainty, it is a trend I am willing to trust. Under 32 (-110) is my favorite play.

Air Force at Army odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Air Force at Army odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Air Force Falcons (5-3) visit West Point to battle the Army Black Knights (3-4) Saturday at 11:30 a.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. Army odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Air Force comes into this game against Army looking to win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy after already beating Navy at home 13-10.

Army, coming off a bye week following a dominant 48-24 home victory over Louisiana-Monroe Oct. 22, looks to get back to a .500 record with a W.

More importantly for Army, it looks to keep its hopes alive for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy if it can win and then beat Navy at the end of the season.

The real message of this game is not what happens on the field, it’s what happens afterward. The sportsmanship shown by the military academies is impressive. Not only supporting the loser as they sing their fight song. But in the losers supporting the winners in the same manner as they perform theirs. This is truly what college football is meant to be.

Air Force at Army picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 17, Army 13

Moneyline

PASS. Air Force (-320) is too risky of a wager.

Against the spread

BET ARMY +7 (-108).

These games are always close. This is what happens when 2 option teams face each other.

Army has won 4 of the last 5 meetings, including last year’s 21-14 overtime victory as 2.5-point road underdogs.

This is also an early kickoff for Air Force with it starting at 11:30 a.m. ET. The Falcons will start off slow and the game should continue to be slow throughout.

For those who like quick games, this one should be done in about 2 hours and 30 minutes. So, enjoy. Few points will be scored, which is why I’ll TAKE THE POINTS WITH ARMY at home.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 40.5 (-112).

Service academy gams have gone Under more than 80% of the time in the last 50 meetings. This includes the 13-10 Air Force vs. Navy game this season which had an O/U line of 38.

Both teams can score when needed. In these games they don’t have to … and normally don’t. UNDER 40.5 (-112) is my FAVORITE PLAY in this game.

Army at Wake Forest odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Army at Wake Forest odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Army Black Knights (1-3) bring their option attack down to Winston-Salem to take on the 15th-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-1) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN3). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Army vs. Wake Forest odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Army is coming off a 31-14 home loss to Georgia State last Saturday. For a team many had pegged to go over their 8.5 season win total, the 1-3 record is disappointing. If Army coach Jeff Monken is truly up for the Georgia Tech position in Atlanta, the cadets of West Point might just let him go there in hopes both parties can be rejuvenated.

For coach Dave Clawson and the Demon Deacons, last week’s 31-24 upset victory at then-No. 22 Florida State was the perfect way to come back from a heartbreaking 51-45 loss to Clemson in double overtime the prior week.

If last season’s Army-Wake Forest matchup is any indication of how this game will play out, expect a lot of points. The Demon Deacons claimed a 70-56 road victory last October – in regulation; there were no overtimes. They eclipsed the Over/Under line of 54 by 72 points.

Army, despite playing the option can score quickly, especially against a defense in Wake Forest which is near the bottom of the ACC.

Army at Wake Forest picks and predictions

Prediction

Wake Forest 51, Army 24

Moneyline

NO BET. Backing any favorite at -700 is not wise sports wagering. Do not burn money by betting moneylines that are this high.

Against the spread

BET WAKE FOREST -17.5 (-105).

Not only is Army not as good as last season, but the Black Knights are also on the road for this game. Wake Forest lost their last home game to Clemson in double OT. The Demon Deacons followed that up by beating FSU on the road last week to get back on track. They will remain on track with an easy victory over the Black Knights Saturday.

WAKE FOREST -17.5 (-105) IS MY FAVORITE PLAY in this game.

Over/Under

BET OVER 66.5 (-108) for the win.

I love the Over here. Last season went Over by 72 points as both teams racked up points and yards. While the same score is not likely, getting to 66.5 is. The game will not fly past 100, but it will easily reach 70.

Armed Forces Bowl: Missouri vs. Army odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Missouri Tigers vs. Army Black Knights odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Missouri Tigers (6-6) and Army Black Knights (8-4) battle in the Armed Forces Bowl Wednesday. Kickoff from Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Missouri vs. Army odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Missouri sports an average offense, ranking 59th in the nation with 412.1 total yards per game and 55th in the nation with 29.7 points per game. However, that’s with senior RB Tyler Badie who averaged 6.0 yards per carry and logged a 14-touchdown season, but he’ll be held out of this game. Mizzou aalso heads into this contest after holding a bowl-prep audition for quarterback since their last outing.

Army is coming off a heart-breaking loss to Navy, and the Black Knights figure to have their 15th-ranked defense that allows 320.8 yards per game in high-energy mode as they look to put that loss and a 2020 bowl loss (24-21 to West Virginia, Liberty Bowl) in the rearview mirror.

Army held the Midshipmen to just 283 total yards on Dec. 11, and a stingy Knights defense has allowed just 279.8 total yards per game since Nov. 13.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Prediction

Army 34, Missouri 24

Money line

Redshirt freshman QB Brady Cook is the reported to have won the Mizzou quarterback competition. With the Tigers being a bit of a disappointment compared to prognostications, Army may well have more to play for and be more at full energy and talent capacity for this game.

BACK ARMY (-240).

Against the spread

During the regular season, the Black Knights went 5-3 against bowl-eligible teams. Their five wins had an average margin of victory of 14.2 points per game.

Army can stop the run and Mizzou doesn’t figure to have the aerial game to leverage an advantage there. Defensively, the Tigers rank 124th against the run (allowing 229.3 yards per game), and the Knights will likely build an advantage there into a two-score, game-control opportunity.

Service academies (Army, Navy, Air Force) have gone a 37-14 ATS (72.5%) in bowl games since 1980. That includes a 24-4 ATS (85.7%) mark when listed at -186 or better on the money line (65% implied odds).

TAKE ARMY -6.5 (-120).

Over/Under

PASS: much gray area on the pace of this one.

Army vs. Air Force odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Army Black Knights vs. Air Force Falcons odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Army Black Knights (4-3 Independent) and Air Force Falcons (6-2, 3-2 Mountain West) meet Saturday in a neutral-site battle at Choctaw Stadium (formerly known as Globe Life Park) in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET. Below, we look at the Army vs. Air Force odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The good news for the Black Knights is that they scored 56 points in their last game when they hosted Wake Forest Oct. 23. The bad news is that they lost as the Demon Deacons scored 70 points in a wild game at Michie Stadium in West Point. Looking to Saturday, Army has had two weeks to prepare for this neutral-site affair.

The Falcons also had two weeks off after suffering a 20-14 home loss against San Diego State Oct. 23 to snap a 4-0 SU/ATS run. The Under has hit in three in a row, and six of eight overall for the Falcons. They are aiming for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy after already securing a 23-3 win at Navy back on Sept. 11.

Army vs. Air Force odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Air Force 31, Army 23

Money line

AIR FORCE (-145) is a good play on the money line if you want to avoid the points and just pick a winner straight up. Air Force, already bowl eligible, had won four in a row before running into a buzzsaw from San Diego State. Look for the Falcons to bounce back, especially against an Army defense that was drummed by Wake Forest last time out.

Against the spread

AIR FORCE -2.5 (-117) is the play in this neutral-site affair. The Falcons have been steady on offense, going for 395.9 total yards per game, while registered 318.4 rushing yards per outing to rank No. 1 in the nation. That triple-option attack is difficult to stop. Occasionally, Air Force can pass it, going for 77.5 passing yards per contest to just keep opposing defenses on their toes.

Army was roughed up for 70 points against Wake Forest two weeks ago, and it allowed 180 yards on the ground. If it couldn’t stop the Deacs, Army will have a whale of a time trying to corral Air Force’s rushing attack.

Over/Under

OVER 37.5 (-110) is the slam-dunk play in this one. Again, Army was involved in a game with 126 total points last time out. Yes, both teams are rushing teams, so the clock will continue to run. But the thought process of the books seems flawed, and this should be an easy Over result. A significant bet is warranted.

Army at Wisconsin odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Army at Wisconsin odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

As part of an action-packed football Saturday, the Army Black Knights (4-1) will travel to take on the Wisconsin Badgers (2-3). The game is set to kick at 8 p.m. ET at Camp Randall Stadium Below, we look at the Army at Wisconsin odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Wisconsin’s record may not indicate that it’s entering as heavy favorites, but when noticing losses to Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan, all top-15 teams, the record becomes more respectable.

The Badgers are led by sophomore QB Graham Mertz, a former four-star recruit. Rushing the ball 61 times in its last game (24-0 win vs. Illinois Oct. 9), it’s clear where Wisconsin would like to focus moving forward.

As for Army, it has held its opponents to under 50 yards on the ground in three of its five games this season. It only lost to Ball State so far this season.

Wisconsin and next week’s matchup against Wake Forest will truly test this Army side. While an underdog, Army is nearing 35 points per game, so this shouldn’t be an easy steamrolling at home for the Badgers.

Army at Wisconsin odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Wisconsin 24, Army 13

Money line

PASS. While I like Wisconsin to win at home, it hasn’t proven enough for the -650 to even be close to worthwhile. I’d stay far away from its money line and look toward a better value.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to ARMY +13.5 (-102) as the better of the two options on the spread.

Army has been playing well this season, and its defense should limit Wisconsin’s run game. Army ranks fourth in the nation in opponents’ yards per rush, while Wisconsin ranks first.

While many of Army’s wins haven’t been overly impressive, like not completing a single pass against Miami (OH), the Badgers have a banged-up Mertz and will be playing right into Army’s style of play.

Given the strong run defense and heavy reliance on the run by both programs, I’d expect a low-scoring game, one in which Army should be able to hang close.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 37.5 (-105) as the no-brainer gamble of the game. What Wisconsin’s defense did to Illinois’ offense last week was mightily impressive.

The Badgers held the Fighting Illini scoreless. Earlier in the season, they held Penn State to just 16 points. They allowed the least yards per rush in the entire CFB. That’s a recipe for success against Army.

It’s vice versa as well, making this a run-heavy matchup. Expect a ton of rushing against two good rushing defenses. That has all the makings of an Under, even at this already-low total.

Liberty Bowl: West Virginia vs. Army odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s West Virginia Mountaineers vs. Army Black Knights Liberty Bowl sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (5-4) and Army Black Knights (9-2) meet in Memphis, Tenn., for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Thursday at 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the West Virginia-Army college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

West Virginia vs. Army: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:28 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: West Virginia -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Army +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: West Virginia -7 (+100) | Army +7 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 41.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

West Virginia vs. Army: Three things to know

  1. The Mountaineers played just once since Nov. 14, and that was a 42-6 loss at then-No. 9 Iowa State Dec. 5. Against ISU, West Virginia managed just 263 yards of total offense. WVU averaged just 338.3 yards per game since piling up 544, 438 and 485 yards over three straight games in October. For the season, the Mountaineers are averaging 26.8 points per game (78th FBS) while allowing 20.4 PPG (22nd).
  2. Army’s 14.0 points allowed per game ranks second in the nation. Albeit against a weak schedule, the Black Knights have allowed more than 27 points in a game just once this season. That was in a 38-12 loss at Tulane Nov. 14.
  3. The Black Knights have yielded just 149.9 passing YPG, which ranks No. 1 in the country. But in 11 games, Army has played three FCS squads; the average passing rank (yards) of the other eight teams is 94th. West Virginia ranks 27th in the nation, averaging 277.2 passing YPG.

West Virginia vs. Army: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 27, Army 17

Money line (ML)

PASS. Figure on the true odds being bracketed, but a bit of swing back toward the Mountaineers (-250) may make them a decent play for bettors who want to take that side and avoid the full 7 points on the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

Army has been solid in two of its last three games against Power Five opponents. But we need to go back three seasons to find those games. The Black Knights aren’t going to creep up on the Mountaineers the way they did Michigan last season and Oklahoma the year before.

Peg WVU as having the best passing attack that Army has seen this year. Look for QB Jarret Doege and the Mountaineers offense to find enough of a rhythm to get the game into two-score territory.

TAKE WEST VIRGINIA -7 (+100).

Over/Under (O/U)

The 41.5 total here is awfully low, but there isn’t enough possible-blowout/WVU-being-rusty gray area to chip away at any value. PASS.
