New York Knicks at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s New York Knicks at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Knicks (24-29) head to Salt Lake City Monday to play the Utah Jazz (32-21). The tip-off at Vivint Arena is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Knicks vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

New York lost for the fifth time in its last six games Sunday in a 122-115 overtime defeat at the Los Angeles Lakers as a 5-point road underdog. The Knicks is 23rd in net rating and 2-4 against the spread (ATS) over the last two weeks.

Utah has won back-to-back home games over the Denver Nuggets (108-104 Wednesday) and the Brooklyn Nets (125-102 Friday) in G Donovan Mitchell‘s first game back from a stint in the concussion protocol. The Jazz are 2-4 straight up (SU) and ATS in the last 14 days.

These teams split last season’s two meetings 1-1 SU and ATS with the home team winning and covering each contest.

Knicks at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 116, Knicks 110

Money line

PASS.

I slightly “lean” towards the Knicks (+330) because of the fat payout and because I “lean” towards New York plus the points.

However, the Knicks are 6-17 SU as underdogs and the Jazz are 31-16 SU as favorites. New York is also 8-21 SU versus teams with a winning record and Utah is 16-9 SU versus teams with a losing record.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the KNICKS +8.5 (-115) for a half-unit wager because the Jazz give up too many easy buckets with Gobert out of the lineup.

Gobert has missed Utah’s previous six games and, over that span, the Jazz are 25th in defensive rating, 26th in fastbreak points per game (PPG) allowed and 24th in paint PPG allowed.

The Jazz also have played down to their competition recently: Utah is 0-5 ATS in its last five games versus teams with a losing record.

However, I only “LEAN” to the KNICKS +8.5 (-115) since I prefer the Over in this game.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 218.5 (-115) for a three-fourths unit because both teams are top-four in free-throw attempt rate and top-seven in 3-point attempt rate.

We’ve already discussed Utah’s defensive troubles with Gobert out of the lineup but New York is 4-1 O/U in its last five games.

Sharp money is on the Over as the total for the Knicks-Jazz has been steamed from 213.5-point opener up to the current price.

The OVER 218.5 (-115) is my favorite wager in the Knicks-Jazz game.

Brooklyn Nets at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Brooklyn Nets at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (29-22) head to Salt Lake City Friday for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off with the Utah Jazz (31-21) at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. Below, we look at the Nets vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Brooklyn lost its sixth consecutive game Wednesday after being upset 112-101 at the Sacramento Kings as 5-point road favorites. The Nets are just 1-4-1 against the spread (ATS) over the past six games. SG James Harden (hamstring) has been ruled out tonight.

Utah snapped its 5-game losing skid by squeaking past a Nikola Jokic-less Denver Nuggets 108-104 as 6.5-point home favorites Tuesday. Over the past two weeks, the Jazz are 2-5 straight up (SU) and 1-5-1 ATS. Clearly the loss of C Rudy Gobert (calf) has them compromised.

Nets at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 121, Nets 119

Money line

PASS.

I only “lean” to Brooklyn plus the points and don’t like it enough to sprinkle on the Nets (+180). But if you’re feeling frisky and want to double up, the price is ripe.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the NETS +5.5 (-108) as more of a fade against this version of the Jazz -5.5 (-112) who shouldn’t this big of a favorite over anyone.

Utah is 8-18 ATS as a home favorite with a minus-4.1 ATS margin and 2-9 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record.

On the other hand, Brooklyn is 5-4 ATS as a road underdog and 7-4 ATS in away games versus winning teams.

Kyrie Irving is averaging 28.2 PPG on 48.6% shooting (38.2% from deep) in five career meetings with SG Donovan Mitchell.

Furthermore, Utah’s defense has taken a nosedive since losing Gobert, who has missed the previous five games. Over that span, the Jazz rank 25th in defensive rating.

However, it’s only a “LEAN” to the NETS +5.5 (-108) because they have been terrible lately as well, and most of the market is betting Brooklyn.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 229.5 (-112) for 1 unit because Brooklyn’s defense has been even worse than Utah’s recently. In fact, over the past two weeks, the Nets have the third-worst adjusted defensive rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

On top of that, both teams have a top-10 offensive FT/FGA rate, and we have a very Over-friendly officiating crew assigned to this Nets-Jazz game. All three referees officiate more to the Over, and they have a combined 62-44 O/U record.

Finally, I’m expecting bounce-back performances from both offenses, which struggled in their previous games. The Nets put up a 101-point dud versus a lowly Kings team while the Jazz get back their best offensive player.

Utah Jazz at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Utah Jazz at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (24-25) host the Utah Jazz (30-20) Sunday at Target Center for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Timberwolves odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Timberwolves return home after a 1-2 road trip. They are coming off back-to-back losses at Golden State (124-115 Thursday) and at Phoenix (134-124 Friday).

Utah has lost six of its past seven games – going 1-5-1 against the spread (ATS) – including four straight with the most recent being a 119-109 loss at Memphis Friday.

This will be the fourth and final regular-season meeting between the two teams. The Jazz won the first three with a 1-1-1 ATS record.

Jazz at Timberwolves odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 121, Jazz 111

Money line

BET TIMBERWOLVES (+100) for 1.25 units because this is a terrible matchup for the Jazz with Gobert out of the lineup. Utah is 1-7 in games Gobert misses, and T-Wolves C Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best big men in the NBA.

KAT ranks in the top 20 of PER and effective field-goal shooting (eFG%). Gobert was awesome in the first three Jazz-Timberwolves meetings this season, averaging 15.7 points and 14.3 rebounds per game with a plus-28 net rating.

Utah’s defense falls off dramatically when Gobert isn’t in the game. He grades in the 97th percentile of bigs in adjusted on/off defensive rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Utah allows 10 fewer points per 100 possessions when Gobert is on the floor but 5 more points per 100 possessions when backup C Hassan Whiteside is on the floor.

Gobert’s absence will allow easier access to the bucket for T-Wolves second-year SF Anthony Edwards, who’s one of the best athletes and penetrators in the Association.

Utah opponents are shooting 4.0% worse at the rim when Gobert is in the game and 2.2% better when Whiteside is in, per CTG. Edwards should have no problem scoring.

BET 1.25 units on the TIMBERWOLVES (+100).

Against the spread

PASS. I’m confident enough to just bet Minnesota SU.

Over/Under

BET OVER 226.5 (-107) for a three-fourths unit only because I like the Minnesota sides more than the total in this game.

However, the T-Wolves are second in adjusted-offensive rating in January and the Jazz are 25th in adjusted defensive rating.

Also, Utah is one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the NBA and Minnesota is 19th in defensive eFG%.

The T-Wolves play at the fourth-fastest pace in the league and the Jazz play a higher frequency of transition basketball when Gobert is off the floor.

BET OVER 226.5 (-107).

Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The slumping Utah Jazz (30-19) head to the FedExForum Friday to play the surging Memphis Grizzlies (33-17) at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Grizzlies odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Utah has lost five of its past six games including three straight, but the three consecutive losses came against the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns (twice). The Jazz are 2-8 straight-up (SU) and 2-7-1 against the spread (ATS) in the last 10 games.

Memphis has alternated wins and losses over the past seven games with the latest being a 118-110 victory at the San Antonio Spurs as a 4-point road favorite Wednesday. The Grizzlies are 7-3 SU/ATS over the last 10 games.

The Grizzlies (+11) upset the Jazz 119-119 in their first meeting this season (Nov. 22). Memphis PG Ja Morant, SG Desmond Bane and PF Jaren Jackson Jr. scored a combined 86 points and the Grizzlies won three of the “four factors” in that meeting.

Jazz at Grizzlies odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 117, Jazz 109

Money line

PASS.

Memphis is the right side, especially with the absence of Gobert, but the Grizzlies (-205) are too expensive.

The Jazz are just 1-6 SU in games Gobert has missed, so the Grizzlies should have a lot of success attacking the rim and scoring in the paint.

Against the spread

BET the GRIZZLIES -4.5 (-122).

They are in much better form than the Jazz heading into Friday, and the absence of Gobert looms large for Utah in this matchup.

Memphis attempts the sixth-highest rate of field goals at the rim and the highest volume of short mid-range shots, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

However, Utah’s opponents shoot 4.4% better at the rim and 4.1% better in the short mid-range when Gobert is off the floor. So, the Grizzlies will be able to exploit this obvious flaw in the Jazz’s defense.

Also, Utah can get kind of careless with the rock and. The Jazz are 21st in offensive-turnover rate (TOV%) and 25th in points off of turnovers allowed per game. This should be trouble against a Memphis team, which is fourth in defensive TOV% and third in points off of turnovers per game.

BET the GRIZZLIES -4.5 (-122) for 1 unit.

Over/Under

PASS since my prediction isn’t too far from the projected total and there’s not a lot of value in this number for me.

Utah is 10-13-1 O/U on the road and Memphis is 12-13-1 O/U at home, but the Over has cashed in nine of the last 10 Jazz-Grizzlies meetings.

This total is too tough to call.

Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The first-and second-best teams by net rating meet Wednesday when the Phoenix Suns (37-9) visit the Utah Jazz (30-18) for the second of their home-and-away back-to-back. The tip-off at Vivint Smart Home Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Phoenix beat a depleted Utah team, 115-109, Monday in the first of this back-to-back, but the Suns failed to cover as 12-point home favorites. The Jazz were without all five starters Monday.

The Suns have won seven straight games and have covered the spread in four of those contests. The Jazz have lost eight of their last 10 games and are 2-7-1 against the spread (ATS) over that span.

Suns at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Jazz 109

Money line

BET the SUNS (-130) for 1 unit even though there has been a sharp line move toward the Jazz (+105) since Phoenix was a -180 money line (ML) favorite on the look-ahead line, according to Pregame.com.

I’d anticipate this line movement is due to Phoenix being without its starting and backup bigs and Utah PG Mike Conley being active for this game whereas he missed Monday’s Suns-Jazz meeting.

However, Suns floor general Chris Paul said a couple of things in his on-court postgame interview following Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, which gives me confidence in Phoenix despite the scary reverse line movement.

CP3 pointed out that he needed to be more aggressive versus Utah because the Jazz are playing drop coverage without Gobert on the floor when Phoenix runs it’s pick-and-roll (PnR) action.

Also, CP3 mentioned how impressed he was with recent signee big Bismack Biyombo‘s hustle and screen-setting skills. Biyombo has given the Suns good minutes and has a plus-12.4 adjusted on/off net rating, which grades in the 94th percentile for bigs, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Lastly, I’d expect the Suns to pick up the pace since they play awesome fast-break basketball and are missing a couple of bigs.

For instance, Phoenix plays the 10th-highest frequency of transition offense and has the third-best fast-break offensive efficiency. This is an area of weakness for the Jazz, who have the third-worst defensive efficiency in transition.

BET the SUNS (-130).

Against the spread

PASS since Phoenix’s ML is only 15 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Suns -1.5 (-115). For what’s it worth, I’d bet Phoenix’s spread up to -3.5 and the Suns 12-6 ATS as a road underdog and the Jazz are 8-16 ATS at home.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-107) for a small wager, if at all, because of Phoenix’s aforementioned offensive edges over Utah.

I gave out the Over in Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, but that only cashed because Utah’s backups were 45.2% from behind the arc, and I don’t know how sustainable that is.

Plus a majority of the market is taking the Over in this spot as well, and I hate following a crowd in sports betting.

Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (36-9) host the first of a home-and-away back-to-back set with the Utah Jazz (30-17) Monday at Footprint Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Suns odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Utah lost for the third time in its last four games Sunday when it fell 94-92 at the Golden State Warriors and pushed as a 2-point road underdog. The Jazz are 20-25-2 against the spread (ATS) and 23-23-1 Over/Under (O/U).

The Suns won their sixth consecutive game Saturday by beating the Indiana Pacers 113-103 in Phoenix but failed to cover as a 13.5-point home favorite. The Suns are 25-20 ATS and 19-25-1 O/U.

Phoenix won and covered in all three meetings last regular season with Utah and the total was 2-1 O/U in those games.

Jazz at Suns odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Jazz 111

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” towards the Jazz (+370) since I “lean” to Utah getting the points in this spot and generally will sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when betting them to cover.

However, this pricing suggests the oddsmakers think the Jazz could be without several key contributors. Mitchell missed Utah’s game Sunday against Golden State and Gobert was listed as questionable but ended up playing roughly 36 minutes versus the Warriors.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the JAZZ +9.5 (-122) since I’d prefer to wait closer to tip-off to see each team’s official starting 5, even if that means I got a worse price on Utah.

But, the Suns are mispriced. I see more value in fading Phoenix than following it because the Suns could be without two starters and don’t perform very well in this spot.

Phoenix is 1-6 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record and has a minus-7.7 ATS margin at home versus teams in the top-10 of adjusted net rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

While the Jazz are third in adjusted net rating (plus-6.4) and eighth in ATS margin (plus-3.8) against top-10 teams, per CTG.

“LEAN” to the JAZZ +9.5 (-122) that would be upgraded to a “like” if Utah gets some good injury news before tip-off.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 220.5 (-112) for 1 unit because it’ll probably be the least wagered side of the whole Jazz-Suns meeting and that’s typically where you find profit in sports betting.

A vast majority of the market is hammering the Under for all the obvious reasons according to Pregame.com. Utah has gone Under the total in four straight, Phoenix is 1-5 O/U in its last six games and both teams could be missing offensive firepower.

However, both teams have offensive edges they can exploit in this matchup. Phoenix likes to push the pace and get out in transition but Utah has the second-worst defensive efficiency versus fastbreak offense.

Also, the Jazz are an elite offensive rebounding team and are very efficient in pick-and-roll (PnR) action through the roll-man. Well, the Suns are 24th in second-chance points per game allowed and have the second-worst defensive efficiency versus the roll-man in PnR action.

The OVER 220.5 (-112) is my favorite wager in this game.

Utah Jazz at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Utah Jazz at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The NBA’s second-and third-best teams by net rating meet when the Utah Jazz (30-16) visit the Golden State Warriors (33-13) Sunday. Tip-off at the Chase Center is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Warriors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Utah snapped a two-game losing skid by defeating the Detroit Pistons 111-101 Friday but failed to cover as 14.5-point favorites.

In the last 14 days, the Jazz are just 2-4 straight-up (SU) and 1-5 against the spread (ATS) with a minus-0.3 adjusted net rating (ranked 18th) and the worst ATS margin at minus-11.4, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Golden State eked past the Houston Rockets 105-103 at home Friday thanks to a G Stephen Curry buzzer-beater but couldn’t cover as 13-point favorites.

Over the past two weeks, the Warriors are 4-4 SU and 3-5 ATS with a plus-2.1 adjusted net rating (ranked 12th) and the 25th-ranked ATS margin at minus-2.8, per CTG.

The Warriors have won and covered three straight meetings with the Jazz, which includes a 123-116 victory in Utah on New Year’s Day.

Jazz at Warriors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 111, Jazz 104

Money line

PASS since these are two of the most efficient teams in the NBA, so the Warriors (-165) is too expensive despite how poorly the Jazz (+170) have been playing recently.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the WARRIORS -5.5 (-105) for a half-unit, which would be upgraded to a full unit if Gobert misses this game.

The Jazz +5.5 (-120) are already going to be without their leading scorer in Mitchell and Gobert grades in the 94th percentile of bigs in adjusted on/off net rating, per CTG.

Furthermore, the Jazz run the highest rate of pick-and-roll (PnR) offense. Gobert is key to Utah’s PnR action. Also, the Warriors have the best PnR defensive efficiency versus ball handlers.

On top of that, Golden State has performed much better against top-10 teams in adjusted net rating than Utah.

The Warriors are second in adjusted net rating versus top-10 teams (CTG) and 13-6 ATS versus teams above-.500 (5-1 ATS at home).

Whereas the Jazz are 4-11 ATS versus teams above-.500 (2-4 ATS on the road) and have the 22nd-ranked ATS margin at minus-3.1 versus top-10 teams (CTG).

Finally, since the beginning of last season, Utah is an NBA-worst 2-5 ATS as a road underdog with the worst ATS margin at minus-4.6.

On the other hand, Golden State is an NBA’s best 28-15-1 ATS as a home favorite with a plus-3.4 ATS margin (ranked second) over that time span.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 219.5 (-107) for 1 unit as my favorite wager in the Jazz-Warriors game.

As previously mentioned, Utah is definitely without its best shot creator and could be without an elite rim runner and offensive rebounder (Gobert).

Also, Golden State is ranked 27th in adjusted offensive rating over the past two weeks but fourth in adjusted defensive rating (per CTG).

Lastly, the Under has cashed in three of Utah’s past four games, the Jazz are 9-12-1 O/U on the road and the Warriors are 7-15-2 O/U as a home favorite.
