Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (63-17) play their final road game of the regular season Friday when they take on the Utah Jazz (48-32) in their final regular-season home game. Tip-off is 9:30 p.m. at Vivint Arena. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Suns have locked up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and home-court advantage throughout the postseason. They have lost three of their last four games but have rested multiple starters in two of those games. Phoenix is coming off a 113-109 road loss to the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday and is 2-1 against the Jazz this season.

The Jazz have a two-game win streak and have won three of their last four outings. They are fifth in the West but hold only a half-game lead over the sixth-place Denver Nuggets.

Suns at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 125, Jazz 119

Money line

The Suns are gearing up for the postseason and rested four of their five starters in their loss to the Clippers, but should play at full strength against the Jazz. They have the league’s best road record at 31-9, although they have dropped their last three away from home (but two of those came with their starters rested).

The Jazz are trying to avoid dropping to sixth place in the West and have to face the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. They have won their last five home games. Utah lost 105-97 at home to Phoenix in their only other matchup there this season.

This should be a good game as both teams will be at full strength. It will feel like a playoff game. I LEAN SUNS (+130).

Against the spread

This again is where I LEAN SUNS +3.5 (-112).

The Suns have not been playing with the same urgency as Utah as they have chosen instead to rest starters in some of the final games before the playoffs. However, it doesn’t appear they will rest guys tonight, opting to stay in rhythm before resting starters in the regular-season finale.

The Jazz are 4-4 ATS when favored between 3-4.5 points this season. They have only covered the spread twice in their last 10 games.

The Suns are consistently a good bet on the road at 24-16 ATS, while the Jazz are 17-20-3 ATS at home.

Over/Under

Excluding their two recent losses when they rested their starters, the Suns have averaged 125.2 points per game in 11 contests. They scored 114 or more in two of three games against the Jazz.

The Jazz have scored 120 or more points in three of their last four games.

Take OVER 225.5 (-107).

Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The first-and second-best teams by net rating meet Wednesday when the Phoenix Suns (37-9) visit the Utah Jazz (30-18) for the second of their home-and-away back-to-back. The tip-off at Vivint Smart Home Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Phoenix beat a depleted Utah team, 115-109, Monday in the first of this back-to-back, but the Suns failed to cover as 12-point home favorites. The Jazz were without all five starters Monday.

The Suns have won seven straight games and have covered the spread in four of those contests. The Jazz have lost eight of their last 10 games and are 2-7-1 against the spread (ATS) over that span.

Suns at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Jazz 109

Money line

BET the SUNS (-130) for 1 unit even though there has been a sharp line move toward the Jazz (+105) since Phoenix was a -180 money line (ML) favorite on the look-ahead line, according to Pregame.com.

I’d anticipate this line movement is due to Phoenix being without its starting and backup bigs and Utah PG Mike Conley being active for this game whereas he missed Monday’s Suns-Jazz meeting.

However, Suns floor general Chris Paul said a couple of things in his on-court postgame interview following Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, which gives me confidence in Phoenix despite the scary reverse line movement.

CP3 pointed out that he needed to be more aggressive versus Utah because the Jazz are playing drop coverage without Gobert on the floor when Phoenix runs it’s pick-and-roll (PnR) action.

Also, CP3 mentioned how impressed he was with recent signee big Bismack Biyombo‘s hustle and screen-setting skills. Biyombo has given the Suns good minutes and has a plus-12.4 adjusted on/off net rating, which grades in the 94th percentile for bigs, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Lastly, I’d expect the Suns to pick up the pace since they play awesome fast-break basketball and are missing a couple of bigs.

For instance, Phoenix plays the 10th-highest frequency of transition offense and has the third-best fast-break offensive efficiency. This is an area of weakness for the Jazz, who have the third-worst defensive efficiency in transition.

BET the SUNS (-130).

Against the spread

PASS since Phoenix’s ML is only 15 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Suns -1.5 (-115). For what’s it worth, I’d bet Phoenix’s spread up to -3.5 and the Suns 12-6 ATS as a road underdog and the Jazz are 8-16 ATS at home.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-107) for a small wager, if at all, because of Phoenix’s aforementioned offensive edges over Utah.

I gave out the Over in Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, but that only cashed because Utah’s backups were 45.2% from behind the arc, and I don’t know how sustainable that is.

Plus a majority of the market is taking the Over in this spot as well, and I hate following a crowd in sports betting.

Suns at Jazz: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 109, Jazz 99

Money line (ML)

The Jazz have absolutely dominated this series. While the Suns picked up a win in February, Utah has beaten them in 15 of the last 17 matchups. The last game was in Utah, though.

Phoenix is allowing the fewest points in the league so far this season and have really played fantastically for the last game and a half. The Jazz lost their home opener and will struggle against a healthy Suns squad. This is the first time all season Phoenix are underdogs. Take the SUNS (+145).

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns are 3-1 ATS, covering the spread in all three of their victories and losing when they were favored once. The Jazz are 1-2 ATS so far. Both are in the top-10 in point differential. Phoenix is No. 3 and the Jazz are No. 9. Look for a fun matchup between Utah’s Donovan Mitchell and the Suns’ Devin Booker. Take the SUNS +3.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns allow the fewest points in the league, giving up only 98.5 points per game, and the Jazz allow 108.3 PPG. Between the two teams, in seven games this season, only one game has gone Over. All four of the Suns’ games this season have gone Under. Take UNDER 219.5 POINTS (-110).
