Women’s basketball odds: USC at UConn picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s USC at UConn women’s basketball odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 7 USC Trojans (10-1) and the No. 5 UConn Huskies (10-1) meet Saturday at XL Center in Hartford, Conn. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s women’s college basketball odds around the USC vs. UConn odds, and make our expert women’s college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

USC blasted Elon last time out by an 88-30 score to easily cash against the spread, while belting Fresno State last Tuesday 89-40 in another cover. In the win over Elon, JuJu Watkins managed a game-high 26 points.

The Trojans are facing a ranked team for the first time since meeting Notre Dame at home Nov. 23. USC lost to the Irish 74-61 in that one, and USC is just 1-1 SU in 2 games against ranked opponents.

UConn roughed up Iowa State 101-68 Tuesday, as Sarah Strong went for a game-high 29 points with 9 rebounds. The Huskies also fell to Notre Dame Dec. 12, losing 79-68 despite 25 points from superstar Paige Bueckers.  UConn is 3-1 SU against ranked teams this season.

USC at UConn picks and predictions

Prediction

UConn 76, USC 71

Moneyline

UConn (-350) will set you back 3 1/2 times your potential return, if you want to bet the Huskies straight up. That’s just a little bit too expensive, either as a straight bet or as part of a multi-leg parlay.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

USC +7.5 (-110) is a strong play in the cross-country trip to Hartford in this marquee battle against UConn -7.5 (-110).

Watkins and her Trojans teammates should be able to keep this one within 4 buckets. This is quite a bit of points for the underdogs in a huge matchup between 2 of the bright stars in the women’s college game.

Over/Under

OVER 139.5 (-110) is an outstanding play in this nationally-televised marquee game Saturday night in Hartford. Look for JuJu and Bueckers to put on a show. UConn has scored 79 or more points in each of the past 5 games, while USC has gone for 84 or more points in 5 of the past 6 outings.

Oregon at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Oregon at USC odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 10 Oregon Ducks (8-0) and the USC Trojans (5-3) meet Wednesday at Galen Center in Los Angeles. Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Oregon vs. USC odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Oregon has shot up the rankings thanks to 3 straight wins against the Texas A&M Aggies, San Diego State Aztecs and Alabama Crimson Tide at the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas. The win over Alabama was as a 7-point underdog as the Under (164.5) cashed. That halted a 3-game Over streak, while the Ducks are 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in the stretch.

USC covered Nov. 4 against the Chattanooga Mocs, and it has failed to cover since. The Trojans are on an 0-7 ATS skid heading into this Big Ten opener. USC has dropped consecutive games against the Saint Mary’s Gaels and New Mexico Lobos, including just 36 points scored against the Gaels in a neutral floor battle at Acrisure Arena.

Oregon at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon 76, USC 65

Moneyline

Oregon (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your battle in this historic matchup between these teams in their first-ever BigTen battle after facing each other for years in the Pac-12.

USC (+200) enters on a 2-game skid, including that ugly loss to Saint Mary’s, so the Trojans just cannot be trusted.

PASS.

Against the spread

OREGON -5.5 (-120) is a strong play on the road against this familiar foe from the Pac-12.

The Ducks steam in with their chests puffed out after securing some hardware in Vegas, topping 2 ranked teams along the way.

USC +5.5 (+100) has dropped 2 in a row, and just doesn’t seem up to the task of cooling off the red-hot Ducks.

Over/Under

UNDER 146.5 (-105) is a solid play, but don’t get carried away.

The Under did cash for Oregon last time out, but that came on the heels of a 3-0 run to the Over. The Ducks have piled up 78 or more points in each of their 8 games to date.

USC has cashed high in 3 of the past 4 games, but that 36-point effort at Saint Mary’s sticks out like a sore thumb.

Notre Dame at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Notre Dame vs. USC odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-1) visit the USC Trojans (6-5) Saturday during college football’s Week 14. Kickoff from the Los Angeles Coliseum is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Notre Dame vs. USC odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Notre Dame climbed one spot in the Coaches Poll (US LBM Coaches Poll) following its 49-14 drubbing of former No. 17 Army on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.  Following its surprising Week 2 loss versus Northern Illinois, Marcus Freeman’s team is on a 9-game win streak (+293 scoring margin), and the Fighting Irish are a win away from clinching a likely first-round home game in the College Football Playoff.

USC’s first season in the (huge) Big Ten has them ranked in the middle-of-the-pack in the 18-team super-conference and 1-2 against ranked opponents. Still, the Trojans look to solidify their position for a late-December bowl game under the direction of new starting QB Jordan Maiavia, who’s undefeated in his first 2 games in the lead spot.

In the most recent chapter of this rivalry last season (and their first clash since 2018), Notre Dame stymied eventual No. 1 NFL Draft pick Caleb Williams during a 48-20 win over the visiting Trojans. Notre Dame leads the all-time series 51-38-5.

Notre Dame at USC odds picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 31, USC 20

Moneyline

While the road setting prices Notre Dame’s ML as one of the most favorable figures all season, the best use of this wager is as part of a parlay.

USC is getting too much home hype in its price to justify a straight-up upset bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

Notre Dame sits 9-2 ATS (7-0 since their loss). USC is not far behind at 7-4 ATS.

Behind run-first QB Riley Leonard and RB Jeremiyah Love, the Irish haven’t stopped stepping on the gas since their surprise loss to NIU and will continue to push the pace in order to register a convincing win in the regular-season finale.

Bettors should consider betting this up to -10.5 on an alt-line prop bet. (FanDuel Sportsbook lists it at +124. BetMGM didn’t list the option.)

BET NOTRE DAME -7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Both schools are hovering around .500 in eclipsing sportsbook totals this season. Notre Dame is 6-5 (6-3 since their loss), and USC is 5-6.

In the most difficult decision among these 3 categories, lean Under. Notre Dame’s defense is playing lights-out, with many points being let up when the team has already been winning big.

USC should hold its own with Maiavia but will eventually struggle to pull away against Al Golden’s defense.

It’s not a true “BET,” but consider fading the total for the potential that the running games, with USC’s Woody Marks (1,421 scrimmage yards, 9 TD on the ground) contributing in keeping ND off the field as much as possible.

LEAN UNDER 51.5 (-110).

USC at UCLA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s USC at UCLA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The USC Trojans (5-5, 3-5 Big Ten) are on the road on Saturday facing the UCLA Bruins (4-6, 3-5). Kickoff from the Rose Bowl is at 10:30 p.m. ET (NBC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the USC vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Trojans have won 2 of their last 3 games and are coming off a 28-20 home win over Nebraska last week, covering the 6.5-poimt spread as favorites. The Under (51) cashed in.

The Bruins had a 3-game winning streak snapped Friday last week, losing 31-19 to Washington on the road as 4.5-point underdogs. The Over (46.5) cashed in.

USC at UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 31, USC 28

Moneyline

The road team has won the last 4 matchups between the 2 teams.

USC averages 30.3 points per game, allowing 22.0 per game, while the Bruins only score 18.8 points per game and allow 27.1.

USC hasn’t won on the road this season and UCLA has only 1 win at home.

USC beat Nebraska by 8, UCLA beat them by 7. UCLA lost to Washington by 12, USC lost by 5. Both beat Rutgers. Both lost to Minnesota.

All 4 road losses for USC have been close, by 3 or fewer points. This will be another.

BET UCLA (+165).

Against the spread

Both teams have identical records against the spread at 6-4.

But with UCLA on the moneyline with plus odds as the best bet, no need to play the spread at all.

PASS.

Over/Under

The last 6 meetings have had totals higher than this game’s projection, with the winner scoring at least 31 points each time.

Expecting a close game, this should be a shootout.

The Trojans have not had more than 2 consecutive games have the Under cash in and have seen the Under win in each of their last 2,

Cal at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Cal at USC odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cal Golden Bears (2-1) take on the USC Trojans (3-0) Sunday evening. Tip-off from the Galen Center is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Cal vs. USC odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Cal stepped into a bear trap in an 85-69 defeat at the Vanderbilt Commodores Wednesday. They failed to cover as 7.5-point dogs in the affair. G Andrej Stojakovic had 17 points and 6 boards. If that name looks familiar, that’s because he’s the son of Sacramento Kings legend Peja Stojakovic.

USC was pushed to its limits in its last 2 games. They failed to cover as 24-point and 16-point favorites in home wins over the Idaho State Bengals (75-69) and UT-Arlington Mavericks (98-95). G Desmond Claude had 26 points, 8 assists and 5 boards Wednesday against UTA.

Cal at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 85, Cal 81

Moneyline

The way that USC has played down to its opponents, I would be scared to risk -150 on them. So -375 is not even a question. I look for Stojakovic to put on a show in SoCal. He hasn’t shot for a great percentage from beyond the arc, but he has 2 triples in each of the last 2 games. To offer up plus-money for him to do it here feels really in the wheelhouse. He’s a 6-foot-7 sophomore with the pedigree from downtown. This could be the spot he introduces himself.

Take ANDREJ STOJAKOVIC OVER 1.5 THREE-POINTERS (+110).

Against the spread

It’s a little off-putting that they couldn’t hang with Vandy, but I read more into USC unable to put lesser teams away. This 8.5-point cushion is more than enough. Cal won the last meeting 83-77 in OT last February.

Take CAL +8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Both teams are 2-1 O/U. USC allowed UT-Arlington to shoot 16-for-24 (66%) from downtown in its last game. And that supports my Stojakovic take and tells you all you need to know about this OVER 152.5 (-115) hitting.

Alex’s best bet: Penn State at USC prediction

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White likes a side in Saturday’s NCAA football game between Penn State and USC.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White looks to continue her hot streak Saturday. She likes a side in the “new” Big Ten matchup featuring the Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) at the USC Trojans (3-2, 1-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET with the game on CBS.

Penn State — No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll — is favored by 3.5 points, per BetMGM Sportsbook as of Friday, 5:51 p.m. ET — the Nittany Lions opened as 6-point favorites.

USC fell out of the rankings — conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports — after last weekend’s 24-17 loss at the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Listen below to why this is Alex’s best bet.

Penn State at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Penn State at USC odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) meet the USC Trojans (3-2, 1-2) Saturday. Kickoff from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Penn State vs. USC odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Penn State picked up a 27-11 win over the UCLA Bruins Oct. 5, but failed to cover as a 29.5-point favorite. QB Drew Allar had his best game of the season, throwing for 237 yards with a TD while rushing for another. This is the Nittany Lions’ 1st road game in their last 4 outings. Penn State is No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

USC was stunned 24-17 by the Minnesota Golden Gophers Oct. 5, failing to cover as a 9.5-point favorite. USC turned the ball over 3 times in the loss while only managing to force 1 turnover on the other end. The Trojans dropped out of the rankings after being ranked No. 15 before the Oct. 5 loss.

Penn State at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

Penn State 27, USC 17

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Nittany Lions (-200) to pick up the win here and stay undefeated, but their ML is too expensive. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN PENN STATE -4.5 (-110).

The Nittany Lions are the better team and have yet to allow an opponent to finish within 5 points of them this year.

Penn State’s defense allows only 233.2 yards per game, good for 2nd in the Big Ten, and should help the Nittany Lions cover vs. a USC offense which is not as potent as what we have become accustomed to under coach Lincoln Riley.

This is a lean because Penn State is only 2-3 ATS this year and the Trojans have gone 1-1 straight up/ATS vs. ranked opponents (LSU and Michigan).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 50.5 (-110).

The Under is 3-2 for USC this season, has hit in each of Penn State’s last 3 games, and is 4-1 for the Nittany Lions this year.

Penn State’s defense allows just 11.4 points per game, while USC’s unit allows just 18.4 PPG. Penn State does have an offense that can attack in both the passing and rushing games, but this will be a game where Penn State will rely on its run game and defense, and that will help the Under hit here.

USC at Minnesota odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s USC at Minnesota odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten) welcome the No. 15 USC Trojans (3-1, 1-1) to Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (BTN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the USC vs. Minnesota odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

USC is No. 15 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. It beat No. 12 LSU 27-20 on a neutral field in its first game of the season, covering as a 4-point underdog. The Trojans are coming off a 38-21 win over the Wisconsin Badgers at home, a week after picking up their first loss in a 27-24 defeat to No. 10 Michigan. USC is 3-1 straight up and 3-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

The Golden Gophers lost at home to UNC 19-17 to kick off the season, closing as a 2-point underdog. They won their next 2 but are coming off back-to-back losses, the former to the Iowa Hawkeyes by 17 and the latter to Michigan by 3. They are 3-1-1 ATS on the season and are 1-1-1 ATS as an underdog.

USC at Minnesota picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 31, Minnesota 24

Moneyline

PASS.

The Trojans are a rightful favorite, and they should come out on top. However, playing them to win outright is too expensive to consider. Avoid playing the 2-3 Golden Gophers to pull off the upset as well.

Against the spread

BET MINNESOTA +8.5 (-115).

USC, through 4 games, doesn’t have a player with more than 350 rushing yards. It is a passing-heavy side, and it will be taking on a Golden Gophers side that has the 4th-lowest opponents average team passer rating. They’re going to be able to limit the USC offense to some degree.

Minnesota is 2-1-1 ATS at home this season as well. The Trojans are 0-1 ATS on the road and have allowed at least 21 points in 3 of 4 games this season while topping 27 in just 2 of 4. Couple it altogether and expect a reasonable close game.

Back MINNESOTA +8.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET OVER 47.5 (-110).

This will be the 2nd-lowest total of the season for the Trojans, and they are 2-0 O/U in games that have a total of 55 or under. USC has tallied 31 points per game in its last 2 as well. It is 2-0 O/U in conference games.

Minnesota is also 2-0 O/U in conference games and 2-1 O/U against Power 5 opponents. The Golden Gophers have tallied at least 24 points in 3 of their last 4. With those trends in mind, back OVER 47.5 (-110).

Wisconsin at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 35, Wisconsin 21

Moneyline

PASS.

USC will pick up the win here, but a -700 favorite is never worth the risk of betting on. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET WISCONSIN +15.5 (-105).

We know that USC struggles vs. the run, so this Wisconsin run game — which averages 172 yards per game and put up 149 rushing yards vs. Alabama — will give the Trojans problems.

This USC offense isn’t as explosive as what we’ve seen in the past 2 years, so the Trojans will struggle to win by more than 2 touchdowns, as their offense won’t be able to make up for their defensive lapses.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 51.5 (-105).

Wisconsin and USC both have bottom-7 defenses in the Big Ten in terms of yards allowed per game. Wisconsin also gives up 23 points on average, so this will be a game of offense where the Over will hit.

USC also averages 33 points per game, while Wisconsin averages 21.7, so based on averages alone, the Over should hit.

This is a lean because the Under is 2-1 for both squads this season and neither offense is extremely highly-powered, so this bet does come with a fair amount of risk.

USC at Michigan odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s USC at Michigan odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 17  Michigan Wolverines (2-1) welcome the No. 12 USC Trojans (2-0) for a Big Ten conference clash Saturday. Kickoff from Michigan Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the USC vs. Michigan odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Wolverines beat Fresno State 30-10 to open the season and then lost 31-12 to the No. 2 Texas Longhorns at home in Week 2, failing to cover as a 6.5-point underdog. It then took down Arkansas State 28-18. Michigan is 0-3 against the spread (ATS), having yet to play on the road as well.

USC opened its season with a neutral-field battle against the No. 16 LSU Tigers and won 27-20 as a 4-point underdog. It then throttled Utah State 48-0 in Week 2 as a 31-point favorite. The Trojans are 2-0 ATS and 0-2 O/U. They are led by QB Miller Moss, who has thrown for 607 yards and has a 72.7% completion rate.

USC at Michigan picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 24, Michigan 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s not great value here. The Wolverines haven’t been good enough, especially against weaker competition, to assume they can beat a surging USC side. Similarly, the Trojans are far too expensive to play.

Against the spread

BET USC -4.5 (-115).

Simply put, USC has covered this season and shown that upside of a top-15 team, and Michigan, even at home, hasn’t. The Trojans ended with 378 passing yards against LSU and have the ability to keep drives alive through the air. Michigan allowed 246 yards through the air to Texas, so it didn’t limit QB Quinn Ewers much. That could be problematic for the home side.

The Wolverines offense has been the main problem, struggling even in games which they were heavily favored. Against their lone ranked foe, they scored 12 points. USC isn’t at the level of Texas, but it is good enough to give Michigan problems.

Take USC -4.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 44 (-110).

The Wolverines are 1-2 O/U and have yet to score more than 30 points. They have allowed 31 to Texas, but have allowed fewer than 20 in both of their other matchups.

USC has an electric offense, but it is 0-2 O/U and put up just 27 points on the Tigers in what was expected to be an ultra-high-scoring battle. Considering the trends for both sides, take UNDER 44 (-110).
