With the major win over OSU, Texas jumped five spots to No. 30 in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank. Oklahoma State dropped nine spots to No. 15.
Tom Herman more or less kept his job for the rest of the season when the Longhorns went up to Stillwater and beat No. 6 Oklahoma State. Heroic play from senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger saved Texas in the final drive of regulation and in overtime.
With the major win, the Longhorns jumped five spots to No. 30 in the USA TODAY Sports re-rank. Oklahoma State dropped nine spots but remains the highest-ranked team in the Big 12 at No. 15.
Here is how the rest of the conference looks:
- No. 21 Iowa State
- No. 22 Oklahoma
- No. 26 Kansas State
- No. 41 West Virginia
- No. 54 TCU
- No. 70 Texas Tech
- No. 83 Baylor
- No. 125 Kansas
Only one team jumped Texas in the re-rank in the Auburn Tigers. Gus Malzhan’s squad had a solid victory in the Plains against LSU on Saturday, winning 48-11.
Currently sitting with a 4-2 record and shooting up 10 spots, having Auburn as a near top 25 team is suspect. They do not have a victory against a team currently ranked inside the top 40 of the re-rank.
Even then, do not let their four victories against average teams fool you. The Tigers could easily be well below .500 after the SEC admitted Auburn had crucial calls in both the Arkansas and Ole Miss matchups go their way.

It is safe to say Auburn has had a fairly lucky season. Maybe some things do not change in 2020.
Putting Auburn and Texas on a neutral site bowl game to end the season would favor the Longhorns. Poor offensive line play for the Tigers would struggle against Joseph Ossai and company, while a plethora of receivers could have a big day against a young Auburn secondary.
