Sports talk personality Skip Bayless is reportedly leaving FS1’s ‘Undisputed’

Skip Bayless has hosted “Undisputed” since he left ESPN in 2016.

After co-host Shannon Sharpe left last summer, FS1 sports talk show “Undisputed” may be undergoing an even more seismic change.

On Monday, Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post reported that Skip Bayless, who has hosted the show for the last eight years, will be leaving the network with his last show set for later this summer.

Bayless, one of the biggest names in sports media, left ESPN in what was seen as something of a coup back in 2016. He had previously hosted the show “First Take” for the network from 2007-16.

Now, he’s reportedly a free agent again.

Glasspiegel reports that the show has seen a dip in ratings since Sharpe’s departure following the 2023 NBA Finals. After taking several months off, the program returned with a new format that featured a rotating panel of guests joining Bayless.

Bayless was reaching the end of his current deal with Fox Sports, which the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported in 2021 to be worth $32 million over four years.

According to Glasspiegel, “Undisputed” is expected to continue without Bayless.

Skip Bayless on Commanders’ hire: ‘I don’t fear Dan Quinn’

Bayless and Michael Irvin say they don’t fear Dan Quinn. That’s probably good news for Washington.

Skip Bayless and Michael Irvin are not worried about Dan Quinn in Washington.

Friday on “Undisputed.” along with Keyshawn Johnson, Bayless did not offer much praise for the hire. He did begin praising the new ownership, “Right now in Washington, I fear Josh Harris because he’s a much smarter and better owner than the previous. That’s not hard to be, but it just is.”

But Bayless sang differently regarding Dan Quinn. “I don’t fear Dan Quinn, and I am amused by the fact that both Philly and Washington have now made recent hires that are Dallas-driven hires. Trust me on this, those two franchises live to beat the Dallas Cowboys. By the way, we are the defending champions in the division.”

“I respect Dan Quinn’s charisma…he is easy to be around, he’s inspirational, pulls his cap around backward, is fiery, a good motivational speaker, as opposed to our current head coach (Mike McCarthy).”

Bayless credited the Seahawks’ talent for why Quinn became the Falcons head coach. Then added he believed it was because of Kyle Shanahan that Atlanta won the NFC, and not Quinn. He pointed to Tom Brady passing for 246 yards after being down 28-3 as the Patriots stormed back, defeating Quinn’s Falcons in that Super Bowl.

Irvin had earlier stated he was “not worried about Dan coaching the Washington Commanders…everybody can run on Dan’s defense, so we are ok with that.”

Johnson countered, “He has been successful in the NFL both as an assistant and as a head coach. I understand you (Irvin) want to pound your chest and say you are not worried about that… but he is a coach that has done this before.”

Irvin then claimed he had the opportunity to leave Dallas as a free agent to join Norv Turner’s Redskins, but he never took the opportunity. Irvin stated he was so close to leaving Dallas for Washington. Perhaps Charley Casserly, then Washington’s general manager, could confirm or deny whether that was the actual case?

Bayless concluded that he does give it to the Commanders because they did not hire a man “that is completely unproven. He is proven to some degree, and yet I don’t think Michael nor I are all that intimidated by this hire.”

Fox Sports 1’s ‘Undisputed’ to air live from Boulder ahead of USC-Colorado

This is one part of the media circus enveloping Boulder before the Trojans face the Buffaloes.

Fox announced that its morning debate show Undisputed will hit the road this week. The show will air live from Boulder, Colorado, ahead of the Pac-12 matchup between Colorado and the USC Trojans.

“We’re taking the show on the road!” The show’s account on X, formerly Twitter, posted a few days ago.

This continues the recent and dramatic increase in national coverage of the Buffaloes. Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, is the coach everyone wants to talk to — and about. The Pat McAfee Show was in Boulder and was marked by an appearance from “The Rock,” Dwayne Johnson, who also appeared on ESPN’s “College GameDay” show. Fox’s “Big Noon Kickoff” will also be at USC-Colorado, after appearing on the Colorado campus in Boulder earlier this season for the Week 2 game (September 9) between the Buffaloes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

“Undisputed” is hosted by Skip Bayless and staffed by two former players: former Seattle Seahawks star and future Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Sherman and USC football legend Keyshawn Johnson.

Dan Lanning addresses backlash after pregame speech vs. Colorado goes viral

Dan Lanning addressed the backlash that came from his pregame speech against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.

Midway through the first half of the Oregon Ducks’ dominant 42-6 win over the Colorado Buffaloes, the ABC broadcast teased “unprecedented access” from Dan Lanning and his team that was given to their cameras before airing part of the pregame speech that Oregon’s coach delivered before kickoff.

It’s a video that you’ve likely seen by now unless you are completely tuned out of the sports media news cycle.

“They’re fighting for clicks, we’re fighting for wins,” Lanning said to his players. “There’s a difference. This game isn’t going to be played in Hollywood, it’s going to be played on the grass.”

When the speech was originally aired, social media went crazy for it, admiring the passion that Lanning showed while firing his team up for a marquee matchup.

[lawrence-related id=48555]

Unsurprisingly, though, the narrative has shifted over the last couple of days, and Lanning found himself as the center of many sports talk show debates on Monday because of his remarks. Some — including Fox Sports’ Skip Bayless on his show Undisputed — labeled Lanning as a bully, saying that he was filled with “venomous vengeance” when targeting Colorado coach Deion Sanders in his speech.

On Monday night, Lanning was able to speak to media members and address the backlash that has come from his comments. Here is what he had to say:

“I’ve watched him (Bayless) enough to know how often he gets it wrong. Ultimately, here’s what I say we’re playing to win the game and you saw a 15-second clip, from a window view outside the house, and what happens in the locker room,” Lanning said. “I know our locker room. I’m in the house 100 percent of the time. I know how our players felt going into that game. I know what it takes to motivate our players. That’s my job to motivate our players. He has a job, I have a job to, to get out there and perform on the field. But inside that house, they felt a certain way. They felt a certain way about a group stomping on the ‘O’, they felt a certain way about guys talking to him in the pregame. I’m proud of those guys, because what they decided to do is talk with their pads. They didn’t want to do anything extra afterward. They wanted to talk with their pads. and they did that on Saturday.”

Anyone who knows Lanning can feel certain that he did not make the comments with any hate towards Coach Prime.

“I’m also grateful and can clearly acknowledge that the attention that we got this Saturday, in large part was to Deion and what he’s doing to college football, and if anybody can’t see what he’s done for college football and how he’s bringing excitement to college football, you’re crazy,” Lanning said. “I said that last week as well. He’s done a lot for the game. He’s building something over there. I think that’s really really clear. There’s no secret there. But it wouldn’t matter if I was playing my 10-year-old son on the other sideline, I’m going to do everything I can to win. If I’m playing Bill Belichick I’m gonna do everything I can to win. Did I go for it on fourth down? Yeah, I have every game this year. I’ve gone for it nine times. Did I go for a two-point conversion? Yeah, I’ve done it three out of four games this year. And if we play again tomorrow, I’m gonna do the same thing. I’m gonna do everything I can to win a game and everything I can to motivate my team. So you know that to me is classless what he’s (Bayless) saying there but I’m not really worried about it.”

Obviously, the pregame speech worked to perfection. Oregon went on to dominate the game in every facet, and now they head into Week 5 with a 4-0 record ranked as one of the best teams in the nation.

Richard Sherman on why the Cowboys won’t hire Deion Sanders

Seahawks great Richard Sherman doesn’t see it happening.

The two biggest stories in football right now are the Dallas Cowboys – currently No. 1 in our Week 3 power rankings – and their former superstar DB Deion Sanders. These days Prime is the head coach at Colorado, where the Buffaloes have already exceeded their projected 2023 win total after putting together one of the most-talented teams in college football in one offseason.

Naturally, there’s been a lot of speculation about what might come next for Sanders. While Prime claims he doesn’t want to coach in the NFL, he might change his tune if a team were to offer him a more-money-than-God type of contract. There’s only one team that would do it – and while Mike McCarthy is doing very well right now running these Cowboys – it’s not hard to imagine them trying to hire Sanders in the coming years if Colorado continues to climb the ladder like this.

However, Seahawks great Richard Sherman doesn’t see it happening. In his most recent appearance on Undisputed, Sherman said that Sanders would overshadow team owner Jerry Jones too much. Watch.

The new Undisputed format is so ridiculously chaotic that is has no room for Skip Bayless

Skip Bayless went from being the Michael Jordan of Undisputed to being Steve Kerr.

After a lengthy two-month hiatus following Shannon Sharpe’s departure from FOX Sports’ Undisputed with Skip Bayless, everyone was wondering what the show would look like moving forward.

Who would Bayless get to be his co-host now? What would the format be? What type of changes should we all be thinking about?

It turns out we finally have our answers.

Who would he get to co-host now? EVERYONE. What would the format be? CHAOS. What type of changes should we all be thinking about. ALL OF THEM.

Bayless announced his “Dream Team” of co-hosts on Monday’s episode of Undisputed like they were the 96 Bulls. Richard Sherman, Michael Irvin and Keyshawn Johsnon were all brought into the fold. And, with how loud everyone got, they certainly acted like it.

It was so wild to watch. Bayless couldn’t even get a word in, y’all.

Shannon Sharpe’s reported move to ESPN’s First Take had fans ready for wild debates with Stephen A. Smith

Shannon Sharpe. Stephen A. Smith. First Take. It’s happening.

It looks like two of sports media’s major personalities are going to be teaming up on television’s flagship sports debate show.

The New York Post reported on Thursday that NFL veteran and former Undisputed co-host Shannon Sharpe will begin appearing alongside Stephen A. Smith on ESPN’s First Take two days a week.

The Post shared that Sharpe will reportedly join Smith on Mondays and Tuesdays, which sets the duo up to discuss plenty about the NFL week that was.

The two have already given hints that they were interested in linking up on-air, and it looks like those hopes will turn into broadcast realities.

Sharpe will now go from debating Skip Bayless to Smith on whatever is going on in the sports world that day.

Who’s replacing Shannon Sharpe on Undisputed? 5 names who could potentially be in the rotation with Skip Bayless

Who could be on with Skip? A handful of names have been reported.

When Undisputed comes back on FS1 until late August, it may not be just one personality who replaces the departed Shannon Sharpe to debate Skip Bayless every day.

It’s shaping up to be a rotation of sorts — maybe a starting five? Maybe more than that? — which might change things up for the sports debate show, giving a few different viewpoints and styles for viewers to take in.

There are reports about who could be in that rotation, so we’ve decided to round up who’s been talked about as the show takes one more step forward toward coming back.

Let’s run through who’s been reported:

Richard Sherman to join Skip Bayless on Undisputed

We’re going to holdout for the Russell Wilson and Golden Tate podcast.

Up is down. Black is white. Richard Sherman and Skip Bayless will now be working together. According to a report by Adam Marchand, the former Seahawks great will be joining Bayless as a regular guest on FS1’s Undisputed show about 50-100 times a year, usually during football season.

Sherman of course once infamously ripped into Bayless in an interview on ESPN’s First Take early in Sherman’s playing career, claiming he was “better at life” than Skip.

Listening to these two debate will no doubt provide a lot of entertainment for some folks, but we’re going to holdout for the Russell Wilson and Golden Tate podcast.
