Georgia football injury report ahead of Tennessee Tech

Georgia football has a lengthy injury report heading into the Tennessee Tech game

The Georgia Bulldogs are hurting a little bit ahead of their home opener against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. Georgia will be thin along the defensive line and has lingering concerns at running back.

“Warren (Brinson) did some things, was out there, moved around pretty good,” said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, who noted Georgia’s projected starting star defender, Joenel Aguero, is ahead of Brinson.

“I would say that Joenel’s ahead of Warren, but Warren’s got a shot,” Smart said.

Aguero missed the Clemson game due to an injury. Brinson is dealing with an ankle injury and suffered a contusion against Clemson. Brinson entered the Clemson game with an Achilles injury.

“I wouldn’t say he was 100%, but he practiced and did everything,” added Smart on Aguero’s status.

Georgia’s top pass rusher, Mykel Williams, suffered an ankle injury against Clemson. Williams probably will not be able to play against Tennessee Tech.

“(Williams) out there, you know, watching our guys, doing rehab, being in all the walk-throughs and things, but he’s not participating in them,” said Kirby Smart.

Georgia defensive linemen Jordan Hall (stress fracture) and Xzavier McLeod both missed the Clemson game. Both players are making progress, but aren’t expected to play against Tennessee Tech.

“They were running today, flying around, sideline running, not practicing, but running, straight line, cutting,” said Smart of Hall and McLeod.

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne could still be suspended against Tennessee Tech. The Bulldogs are without running back Roderick Robinson, who recently underwent toe surgery and was not putting weight on his foot during the Clemson game.

However, Georgia is not the only team with injury concerns. Tennessee Tech’s starting quarterback Dylan Laible will miss the Georgia game after undergoing surgery. His backup, Jordyn Potts, went 27 of 38 for 256 yards and three touchdowns in the Golden Eagles’ 32-25 road loss to Middle Tennessee in Week 1.

Updated Georgia football injury report ahead of Clemson

The Georgia Bulldogs enter the Clemson game with several injuries at running back and along the defensive line

The Georgia Bulldogs are a little bit banged up entering their 2024 season opener against the Clemson Tigers. Georgia has not suffered many major injuries thus far, but the Bulldogs have a few question marks.

Georgia’s top position questions are running back and defensive line. The Bulldogs are expected to be without defensive lineman Jordan Hall, who suffered a stress fracture. Fellow defensive lineman Warren Brinson is expected to play, but he could see limited snaps as he is recovering from an Achilles injury.

“Warren (Brinson) looks good. He’s practiced every day. We’ve practiced for Clemson. He’s done a good job. He’s been out there competing,” said Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart.

South Carolina defensive line transfer Xzavier McLeod is considered questionable with an abdominal strain.

Georgia’s other top position of concern is running back. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart refuses to comment on Trevor Etienne’s status. Etienne, a Florida transfer, is likely suspended after being arrested for driving under the influence this offseason. Georgia running back Roderick Robinson will not play due to turf toe.

“Rod did have surgery on his toe,” Smart said.

Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young, a Miami transfer is expected to play. He recently missed practice with a hamstring injury, but has been healthy recently.

“Yeah, Colbie (Young)’s been great,” Smart said. “He practiced ever since we started on Clemson full go (on Thursday of last week). He’s been great and should be ready to go.”

In addition to these injury concerns, the Bulldogs have a slew of players that could face suspensions for driving incidents this offseason. Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon is the other key Bulldog, aside from Trevor Etienne, that could face a suspension, but he is expected to play.
