Georgia OT to enter the NCAA transfer portal

Georgia offensive tackle, former four-star recruit enters the transfer portal ahead of spring practice

Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Chad Lindberg plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal when it opens on April 15. Lindberg, a former four-star recruit, played in 12 games throughout the 2023 college football season.

Lindberg is entering the transfer portal ahead of spring practice, which begins on March 12. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound senior offensive tackle has played in 22 career games for the Bulldogs. Lindberg projected as Georgia’s back-up right tackle for the fall.

Now, Georgia will likely rely on Monroe Freeling as the second-string right tackle. The Dawgs also have Daniel Calhoun, Bo Hughley, and Jamal Meriweather as depth at offensive tackle.

Lindberg announced his plans to transfer via social media. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Lindberg’s likely departure is a blow to Georgia’s offensive line depth. Lindberg has the talent to start right away at another Power Five program.

Let’s take a look at how UGA football transfers performed during Week 1 of the college football season

Georgia football lost 15 players to the NCAA transfer portal in the 2023 offseason alone. The Bulldogs lost additional talent in the 2021 and 2022 transfer windows.

Former Georgia defensive tackle Bear Alexander actually leads the nation in pressures, at the defensive tackle position, according to Pro Football Focus. Of course, USC is one of the few teams that has already played in two games.

Let’s take a look at how Georgia football transfers performed during Week 1 of the college football season:

Former Georgia WR Justin Robinson named MVP of Mississippi State’s bowl win

Former UGA receiver Justin Robinson had a standout performance in Mississippi State’s bowl will over Illinois

Former Georgia receiver Justin Robinson had a standout performance in Mississippi State’s bowl win over Illinois. Robinson earned the MVP award of the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida.

The sophomore receiver had seven receptions for 81 yards and scored Mississippi State’s only offensive touchdown. The Bulldogs honored late head coach Mike Leach in their 19-10 victory over Illinois. Mississippi State finished the season 9-4.

Robinson, who transferred from Georgia following last season’s national championship, is playing more at Mississippi State. Robinson finishes the 2022 college football season with a career high in receptions, yardage and touchdowns. Robinson recorded 30 receptions, 326 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season.

Mississippi State throws the ball more than any other team in the country. Next year, Robinson is expected to have a larger role for the Bulldogs after star receiver Rara Thomas transferred to Georgia earlier this offseason.

Robinson, during his final year at the University of Georgia, finished the 2021 season with two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound wide receiver is a former four-star recruit out of Eagles Landing Christian in McDonough, Georgia.

Robinson, who wears No. 18 for Mississippi State, was a notable piece of Georgia’s top-ranked class of 2020. Kirby Smart and Georgia football signed five receivers in the class of 2020. Jermaine Burton and Justin Robinson transferred after the national championship. Ladd McConkey, Arian Smith and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint remain with the Georgia football program.

2022 All-SEC wide receiver Dominic Lovett has transferred from the Missouri Tigers to the Georgia Bulldogs

2022 All-SEC wide receiver Dominic Lovett has transferred from Missouri to Georgia. Lovett recorded 56 receptions for 846 receiving yards and three touchdowns last season.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound receiver is a former four-star recruit from East St. Louis High School. Lovett and Mississippi State transfer Rara Thomas will help improve Georgia’s wide receiver room for the 2023 college football season. The duo has already signed with the Bulldogs.

Lovett is 247Sports’ No. 7 player in the transfer portal and the top-ranked wide receiver. Thomas is 247Sports’ No. 16 player and the second-ranked wide receiver.

Here’s a look at one of Lovett’s top plays from the 2022 college football season:

Dawgs to face former Georgia WR against Mississippi State

The Georgia Bulldogs will face former UGA receiver Justin Robinson when they travel to play Mississippi State.

The Georgia Bulldogs will face former Georgia receiver Justin Robinson on Nov. 12. Robinson, a sophomore, is playing more at Mississippi State after transferring to Mike Leach and company following the national championship.

Mississippi State throws the ball more than any other team in the country. The Mississippi State Bulldogs have 448 passing attempts this season. To put that into perspective, Mississippi State already has more passing attempts through nine games this season than Georgia had in 15 games (407 passing attempts) during the 2021 college football season.

Robinson has played a larger role for the Bulldogs in recent weeks. The sophomore receiver has 15 catches for 154 yards and a touchdown this season.

Robinson is one of six Georgia class of 2020 signees to transfer from UGA. Georgia’s top 10 signees from the class of 2020 are still with the program. That’s impressive retention in the current transfer portal era.

Mississippi State coach Mike Leach demands a lot from his receivers. Mississippi State throws the ball a great deal, and he expects his receivers to be on the same page as the quarterback.

Taking a look at how Georgia transfers are performing following Week 4

The Georgia Bulldogs have a lot more players that transfer away from the football program than transfer into it. Why is that?

A large number of Georgia players are unable to get as much playing time as they’d prefer. Additionally, some players want to transfer closer to home or to somewhere that will give them a full scholarship. Georgia has had several walk-on players that have transferred to other programs and earned much bigger roles with their new teams.

Let’s take a look at how several former Georgia Bulldogs performed through the first four weeks of the 2022 college football season.

Numerous former Georgia Bulldogs are making big impacts at their new schools. Former Georgia receiver Matt Landers is Arkansas‘ leading receiver. Florida cornerback Jalen Kimber had a critical pick-six last week for the Gators.

Tons of former University of Georgia standouts are making plays at their respective schools. Kirby Smart coaches up his talented players well and it translates to production almost regardless of where they end up.

Here’s an update on how 11 former Georgia football players are doing with their new teams:

Georgia Bulldogs OL transfers to SMU

The Georgia Bulldogs lost some depth along the offensive line when Owen Condon announced his transfer to the SMU Mustangs football program.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Owen Condon has transferred to the SMU Mustangs football program. Condon has played in 22 career games for Georgia across four seasons.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound senior out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, should have more opportunities for playing time at SMU. Condon faced stout competition along the offensive line at Georgia.

He played in 14 out of 15 games for UGA in 2021, but primarily had a reserve role after starting the 2020 season opener against Arkansas. Condon will hope to start for SMU. Condon is a former three-star recruit from Bishop McGuinness High School.

The Bulldogs are losing a pair of offensive line starters in Jamaree Salyer and Justin Shaffer to the 2022 NFL draft. Georgia will reload with elite offensive line talent like Broderick Jones, Amarius Mims, and more.

Owen Condon announced his transfer to SMU via his Twitter account:

We wish Condon luck at SMU. He is transferring a little bit closer to home and should have a big role for the Mustangs in the American Athletic Conference.
